  1. Great day at the Euros today. I especially enjoyed watching Slovenia equalize late. I like Denmark a lot, but Slovenia probably deserved to go through to the second round of the 2010 World Cup. Landon Donovan broke their hearts, as Ian Darke put it. I'm incredibly happy he did so, but I don't believe they've qualified for a major international tournament since. Or, if they have, I don't think they made any noise. So...they're owed a run, is what I'm saying. Their matches against Serbia and England (the team that beat them on the final group day in that 2010 World Cup) will be a lot of fun.
  2. I heard that Rock said something about the move to PR for Candelario. I was following on the radio and thought that was a mistake. You'd much rather face Espinal in that situation, and it made the decision to walk Elly a lot easier. Of course, Espinal got the hit, but it was for sure a soft-contact special. I thought Murphy managed this game quite well. He's been improving as an in-game manager, I think, and I appreciate his candor after Friday's loss. As others have mentioned, that just felt like about as big of a series win as June could give you. Reds come in smoking hot, Brewers blow a big opportunity in game one (though, really, it was more an opportunity to STEAL a win than a game they should have won), and then they come back and take the next two to go up 4-2 on the Reds in the season series. Love, love, love that we have a winning record against everyone in division about halfway through our divisional slate. Believe we are 18-9 against the NL Central. Let's rock the left coast just like we rocked the Mets on opening weekend.
  3. Good move to walk him. Should be over. Let's get it done anyway.
  4. It would be really nice to not have to face Elly in the ninth.
  5. I'd take Elly just so he doesn't annoy the Brewers as much for the next half decade.
  6. Man, Christian Yelich is a baseball player. So much fun.
  7. Man, some insurance would be great, especially with Megill looking a little hittable lately.
  8. I get trying to sneak Paredes through that inning, but he did not reward the show of faith.
  9. Great play from Sal. I'd guess that long Fraley AB ends Rea's day. Dude pitched really well again. It's the quality start almost no one likes (6 innings, 3 runs), but other than the mistake to Steer, he really controlled the game. Would love to a see a 3-spot to put him in line for the win.
  10. If the Reds have anyone in the two spot other than Elly, this is a 1-1 game. Still feel like it's going to take 5 or 6 to win this one somehow. Hope we can put together a big inning.
  11. Good picks. I love watching Austria. That high-press is fun. And Portugal is supremely talented.
  12. Lots of scoring at Euro 2024, which is nice to see. Teams so far seem healthy and aggressive. Not really any supercompetitive games so far, but I am guessing that changes with Group C getting underway tomorrow. It looks to me like a favorites kind of year, but I would fade England if I had the chance, mainly because I really, really don't trust their back line.
  13. Don't mind turning Gary loose 3-0, but that elevated fastball probably wasn't the pitch to do it.
  14. 0-4 start with RISP. So much randomness with that stat. Nice, quick inning for Wilson. Let's put up some runs please. I would like to not still be thinking about yesterday's game tomorrow.
  15. We've seen a lot of innings like that lately. Lots of really good ABs, runners on, dude throws 30 pitches, and no runs. Just got to keep at it because at some point it's going to pay off.
  16. I mean, the division is going to be tight at the end. We've been the best team, but we're not 6 games better than everyone else.
  17. His offspeed stuff is just completely noncompetitive. And the fastball isn't very consistent either. Someone suggesting he was maybe tipping again, but I think he's just really fighting it.
  18. Yup. Strike 1 was horrible too. Been a frustrating game. Lots of baserunners, no big hit, Freddy struggling. Reds are playing good baseball, but you have to take advantage of the Elly double error there, even if it's just getting to 5-3.
  19. He is a better pitcher than this. He cannot locate his offspeed pitches right now, and the fastball at 93-94 is leaking all over the place.
  20. Freddy walking a fine line tonight. Keeping them in it, anyway.
  21. If you had Freddy at 42 pitches through 3, Greene at 48 pitches through 2, and the Reds winning, hats off. Some good ABs from the Crew, so hoping they can build on that 2nd time through.
  22. Yeah, the soccer uniforms take some getting used to, though I don't notice the absurdity as much anymore. I think the reverse is stadium naming rights. There are exceptions, but most soccer clubs are playing at places called "Elland Road" or "Anfield" or "Goodison Park" instead of "American Family Field" or "LoanDepot Park" or "Guaranteed Rate Field." Maybe just a weird cultural quirk.
