There really hasn’t been a situation to do it. He isn’t going to use Narvaez, and this board would explode if he had Tellez hit for Hiura against a RHP. No situation crying out for Peterson either. The Brewers really haven’t had a scoring opportunity since the third inning so no point using up the bench early. Might be time to get Tellez in for defense if nothing else.

Nice efficient inning there. No reason not to let Burnes start the 8th. Caratini was a little nonchalant on that third strike.

Yeah, when was the last time a Brewers starter threw a pitch in the 8th inning? If Burnes can get through the 7th efficiently he could do it today.

I can’t really object to that call. To me it looked like he was trying to hold up and getting hit in the elbow caused his wrists to follow through.

I agree with that. Although given the third base coach’s track record on some recent plays at the plate, someone failing to look at him might not be a bad thing.

I’m not so sure he really could have gone to third on that throw. I’ve seen too many times when a runner thinks he can take another base and is gunned down by a bullet throw from 100 feet away. That would be an awful way to make the first out of an inning.

If you check the record, I didn’t say “certain loss”, I said “almost certain”. I recognize the 5-10% possibility that, despite the matchup disparity, the Brewers Sunday lineup could overcome the Curse of the Weekend 10 pack and pull out a win. I know all about what Berrios has been like this year because I have him on a fantasy team. While he has been generally bad, including his last start, he also has had several solid outings. A Sunday Brewers lineup could be just what he needs.

The Brewers really need a win today to avoid an almost certain series sweep. Gonzalez against the Jays big bats sounds like the recipe for an instant replay of last night’s snooze fest.

I was away all this week. Has there been any info on Renfroe (infroe)? Should we be expecting another IL stint because of recurring hamstring problems? ETA: I did some digging and found something on Yahoo that Renfroe is dealing with a “lingering calf issue”.

The good news for me is that I’m sitting at an airport waiting for a flight that has been delayed for 2 hours by thunderstorms. Now I won’t have to spring for the onboard WiFi to follow this “contest”.

If Monday’s game was a preview of how the Brewers can win a playoff game, tonight’s is a preview of what can happen when a team with a real offense faces a Brewers starter who isn’t a Cy Young candidate. Sunday is the next game in the Weekend 10 Pack and I can’t wait to see what this lineup will do to Chi Chi Gonzalez or his equivalent.
