  1. Looks like Woodruff will be joining Peralta on the IL.
  2. I haven’t really looked at their odds, but I glanced at their methodology and it says that it creates a value for each team based on its last 100 games, including going back to the previous season. As a simple explanation, it looks like the Cardinals are getting a big bump from their closing surge last year.
  3. Wong 4 Urias 6 Yelich 7 McCutchen 9 Tellez 3 Taylor 8 Narvaez 2 Hiura DH Peterson 5
  4. That was a rhetorical comment, not something I expected you or anyone to be able to answer. Adames is not in tonight’s lineup.
  5. Is it the end of the week yet? Counsell said on Tuesday after Adames took batting practice and grounders that Adames wouldn’t be added to the roster “before the end of this week”.
  6. Is Burnes definitely scheduled for Sunday? The MLB app has the Brewers as TBD for that game. Are they thinking about using someone else Sunday and having Burnes go on his 6th day in one of the games of the Monday twin bill? I’m not sure the Brewers have a clear advantage tonight as Hudson has been pretty solid and Woodruff has not really hit his stride yet. Even if Burnes goes Sunday that’s an ace vs ace matchup that is basically a toss up. Liberatore tomorrow is a lefty, which by itself makes him a challenge. It might help if Adames could be back by then.
  7. Woodruff hasn’t hit that much since his famous HR off Kershaw. I vote for keeping pitchers out of the batters box and off the bases. I’ll take my chances with McCutchen or Hiura. What the Brewers really need from Woodruff is 6 or more innings to give the bullpen a little break. Hader had to work pretty hard last night and I would guess Williams could use another day after 3 straight stressful appearances against the Padres.
  8. I posted that after the second inning. Are you saying that Lauer was lying when he said after the game “My guys picked me up, I didn’t have my strikeout stuff, my command”?
  9. What do the underlying metrics say about who’s winning?
  10. Hader’s going to have his work cut out for him in the ninth.
  11. 3 walks and almost 60 pitches in 2 innings is a pretty good indication of a pitcher who isn’t in command.
  12. Pitchers can often have a role in preventing unearned runs too. Nobody gave me the ground rules for the discussion. If I’m off topic just ignore me instead of telling me I’m wrong for citing facts.
  13. Not true. According to Baseball Reference the Cardinals are allowing 3.86 to the Brewers 3.77. I’m more interested in runs allowed than earned runs allowed. If the Cardinals defense is better at helping their pitchers that’s part of the game too.
  14. I’m old fashioned. Scoring and preventing runs is still the name of the game and the Cardinals are very good at that.
  15. The Cardinals must have some decent pitchers for their runs allowed per game to be basically the same as the Brewers.
  16. I saw a quote from Counsell that Adames woukdn’t be activated “before the end of the week”. I took that as meaning before Friday, but maybe he meant a baseball week that would include the whole weekend series. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him activated over the weekend, but am not going to be surprised if it doesn’t happen until Chicago.
  17. It looks like he is on target to rejoin the team some time during the Cardinals series.
  18. Unless they know Hader is going to join the team in St. Louis Williams better save this one. The bullpen is not going to be in the best shape going into St. Louis. And the Cardinals have the day off today.
  19. So, when people say things out of frustration they shouldn’t be taken literally or seriously? Something you might want to keep in mind.
  20. Can’t really afford to pinch hit for Cain now, so have to take the automatic out. Need the defense.
