The Pirates sure haven’t looked like one of the worst teams in the league against the Brewers. And they haven’t even played in the PNC House of Horrors yet.
I’m getting annoyed at announcers constantly saying “good take” on pitches that are nowhere near the strike zone. Are we supposed to praise hitters for not chasing terrible pitches?
A sweet series win. The Brewers did almost nothing against the Reds starters, but took advantage of their Achilles heel, and the pitching did a good job of cooling down the Reds bats after their sweep of the Cardinals.
Yeah, he really drilled that one. It looks as good as a line drive in the scorebooks! Put the bat on the ball, you’ll never know what’ll happen. So, are you saying that he’s the kind of hitter you want in the 6 spot on a regular basis? I doubt it.
Except that Castillo's results so far this season indicate that wheels could (and likely will) come flying off at any time. He's been pretty terrible this season. A lot of that is getting out of the first inning. Garcia battling him to get him out of the game was critical even though he struck out.
It is raining, so that may not be helping. True, but he hasn’t been very efficient today. At least he got through the fourth but I wont be surprised if he doesn’t come back after the delay with 75 mostly stressful pitches already
51 pitches for Peralta to get through 3 innings and then a double to lead off the 4th meaning more stress. He might not see the 6th today. Who would think that an offense with Jace Peterson batting 6th would have trouble scoring.
A preview of what it’s going to be like as the Brewers go to their 6 man rotation from now until the All Star break. Anderson and Lauer aren’t going to produce many wins for a team that doesn’t score much.
With the two walks that inning the Reds will be swinging back to the top of the order in the ninth. Hader will need a 1-2-3 inning or he’ll be looking at Winker and then Castellanos.
The Yelich DP could be the turning point in this game. A pitcher who can’t find the plate and a chance for a big inning down the drain. Now the Reds come into the heart of their order facing Hauser for the third time.
This could be a good break for the Brewers to get an unexpected early entry into the Reds middle relief. This is their weakest link and the Brewers have to take advantage of it.
