  1. Miller Park carry in policy prohibits musical instruments and other noisemakers.
  2. I’m sure Oakland will score again. Always a fairly safe bet with Albers pitching, sadly. If you bet on Albers to give up a run every time he pitched this year you’d have lost a lot of money.
  3. Does anyone else find it odd that Braun still gets booed wherever he goes while Alex Rodriguez has become a beloved celebrity on ESPN?
  4. Goldschmidt makes it 7 of his last 8 games with a HR. Tonight’s gives the Cards a 2-1 win over the Cubs.
  5. Shaw looks exactly like he has all season for the Brewers. He looks like he’s feeling for the ball instead of swinging at it. If he makes contact it’s going to be weak.
  6. Brewers playing from behind for the 37th straight game.
  7. One thing that worries me in this series (in addition to the Brewers pitching) is that the A’s park is not a good HR park, especially at night. The Brewers are going to have to find some ways to score without the long ball.
  8. I think you could get a guy like Lamet from San Diego. He's controllable for several more years and has big upside. But why would the Padres want Moustakas or Grandal for 2 months unless they want to win now?
  9. The problem with trading rentals like Grandal and Moustakas is that any team interested in them would be a contender that likely isn't going to want to part with useful pitching.
  10. Just noticed that Goldschmidt is 0 for 3 today as he bids to homer for the 7th straight game.
  11. With the off day tomorrow I think Counsell is just giving a bunch of the relievers a little work, knowing that one of Williams or Jackson might have to start Tuesday or Wednesday and the bullpen is going to be severely tested with 9 games in 9 days. He probably doesn’t want anyone in the pen pitching more than one inning today.
  12. So much for momentum. Aguilar and Hiura both messed up that play. Aguilar by not getting back sooner and Hiura by not throwing it a little sooner or, if he was going to wait, a little harder. Then Jeffress can’t pick them up.
  13. Even though it’s still likely that the Brewers will lose this game, there is some satisfaction in making the Scrubs fans sweat (literally and figuratively) just to salvage one game in the series.
  14. Which he proceeded to do. Now time to face the harsh reality that the Brewers have no starting pitchers for Tuesday and Wednesday against the A’s.
  15. At least Schwarber can only hit a 3 run HR this time.
  16. Have to get a run or two sooner rather than later. They’re not winning this game by waiting until the 7th or 8th inning to get their first runs.
  17. I’ll be careful I don’t offend anyone by suggesting that this game is over. But, I will say that the Brewers chances of coming back to win this one are pretty slim considering who is on the mound. The Brewers have pummeled Quintana a few times by getting him early, but otherwise he sails through them and this is looking more like the latter.
  18. Did we sweep them last September to get back into the division race or am I wrong about that The Brewers won two out of 3 from the Cubs twice in September but didn’t sweep them.
  19. Games like yesterday’s and Friday’s against a hated rival are memorable completely apart from how or whether they affect a playoff race. They reminded me of some games and weekend series the Brewers had against the Yankees in the 78-80 seasons. Those wins in front of big crowds were great even though they didn’t lead to the Brewers coming even that close to making the playoffs. Now, let’s make it really memorable by completing the sweep and sending the Cubs fans home with their tail between their legs. I don’t think the Brewers have swept a 3 game series from the Cubs since they began turning things around late in the 2014 season.
  20. Thumbs up to the OP. I find most attempts at this kind of parody to be pretty lame and forced, but this one really hit home for me.
  21. Haven’t seen anything like that since that game against the Cardinals last year when Yelich and Braun went back to back with 2 outs in the ninth. Don’t ever remember the Brewers having two guys with 15 game hitting streaks at the same time.
  22. They could do all of these things but it would be the equivalent of waving the white flag. The Brewers aren’t going to be able to stay with the teams that will be beefing up their rosters with pitchers with major league experience by calling up a bunch of minor leaguers, some of whom haven’t pitched above AAA. DFA’ing Albers, who has been one of the more effective relievers this year, would be the dumbest thing they could do from that list of moves. I have no doubt that other contenders would be happy to pick him up. With the injuries, picking up at least one starter with major league experience is a necessary (but hardly a sufficient) move for the Brewers to stay in contention.
  23. Correct. Having followed the Brewers since I attended their first opener in 1970 (that 12-0 loss to the Angels) while I was a senior in high school, I definitely remember the 2000’s, along with all 50 years of their existence. I am not advocating selling, but I also have been around long enough that to recognize that the Brewers pitching situation does not position them well for the stretch run.
