  1. So, 5 hits and 2 HRs. Does this mean Yelich has to sit out 5 games again like after his big game in Pittsburgh?
  2. I very much doubt Junior gets through the 14th unscathed much less more than that, so we need to take the lead again, preferably by 5+. Still need 3-4 more.
  3. I’m calling it. If a team can’t win when it gives up just 2 runs or when it scores 12, how is it going to win half of its games against contending teams. Hader appears to be done for this year.
  4. This is really feeling like a must win game to me. A big road trip against two playoff contenders and an 0-6 or 1-5 trip could be the beginning of the end. Then get a rare early 5 run lead. If this one gets away things could get ugly very fast.
  5. You’re going to have a really hard time convincing me that Yelich isn’t hurt. He looks even worse now than he did before he sat out the 5 games. Looks like they made a mistake not putting him on the IL last week.
  6. I said during the Cubs series that there was a 90 percent chance Yelich was hurting because of how bad he was looking at the plate. Two days later he was out of the lineup. He looks just as bad now.
  7. I think he’s still hurting. He hasn’t looked good at the plate either. He doesn’t have a strong arm but he usually does a good job tracking down fly balls.
  8. It's a ridiculous suggestion that would only be brought up by the same 3 guys over and over. However, if we're half-way through 2021 and sitting 39-44, I think it's something you have to do at that point. Your options are another Ryan Braun situation or capitalizing on what is probably the last bit of prime talent to get something back in return. I hate thinking about it, but if the team is not built to compete immediately I can't see them keeping him. Also, Yelich has been generational for the last two years. I wouldn't expect any prospect to be as good as he has been. I was only talking about advocating a trade of Yelich this offseason. Circumstances obviously change, especially as it gets closer to the end of his current contract. But today, the business side of the operation has to consider what message it’s sending to fans if they trade away a player who has become by far its best and most popular player and biggest drawing card.
  9. IMHO, anyone who advocates trading Yelich for prospects cannot and should not be taken seriously. When you trade for high level prospects you pray that you might hit the jackpot and get someone who turns into what Yelich is now. When you have one, you don’t flip him, you build around him.
  10. The numbers aren't meant to communicate that the Brewers are no worse vs LHP, they are meant to demonstrate that the sentiment of "OMG a lefty, we have no chance" are overblown. Before tonight... wRC+ vs RHP: 104 wRC+ vs LHP: 96 The Brewers have hit about 8% worse vs LHP this year, maybe after tonight it's up to 9%. Except that nobody has ever said anything close to “OMG a lefty, we have no chance”. It has always been, at least for me, that the offense has been disappointingly mediocre, and against lefties it’s even worse. This was supposed to be one of the top hitting teams in the league, and it isn’t close to that.
  11. That’s always how I can tell what my deep down expectations are. There have been times when I wouldn’t be able to sleep for an hour or two after a loss like that in a night game. Now it just makes me sad, not mad.
  12. He’s not the tying run so it’s not worth using the last player on the bench. They would have needed him to pinch hit with the pitcher coming up next. Moot point.
  13. I know I’m late to the party but I was watching on the DVR. It sounds like second guessing but I did not want to see Hader in that situation. It was like you could see what was going to happen before it happened. Another crushing loss like the one after the second Saladino grand slam. BTW, to change the subject, I hope nobody brings out the numbers again for awhile trying to convince me that the Brewers are no worse against lefties than righties. Tonight against a lefty who has been getting battered around by everyone for about 2 months, they manage one unearned run. Then a righty comes in and they score 4 quick ones. If they had held on to win it would have gone down as a win in a game started by a lefty and it would have been totally misleading. If things don’t turn around soon the Brewers are going to be at death’s door by next week. That six game trip to Washington and St.Louis looks pretty scary for a team with a sputtering offense and no bullpen.
  14. I think at this point I’m more worried about our play. Twins, nationals, cardinals, diamondbacks, cardinals, cubs all in a row We are going to have to prove we can win those series. I’m very skeptical of that. Especially the road series. I think we would do well to be over .500 in those games. Would that be enough to make a move in the playoff race. I don’t know I’m really looking at the next 23 games, a stretch that ends on September 8. They’re all against teams with winning records and includes the 6 series you listed plus two games against the Astros and 4 more with the Cubs. I really think that only .500 in those games would leave the Brewers in a tough spot with just three weeks left in the season (unless they win a lot against the Cards and Cubs). I expect one or two of the teams in the playoff jumble are going to make a move soon and treading water as the Brewers have been doing isn’t going to be good enough. Something like 14-9 would be great.
  15. I hate these games. I like to use the DVR at times so I can watch the game when I want but pause it and come back later so I can do other things instead of parking in front of the TV for 3 1/2 hours. Judicious use of fast forward can really make the games go faster. For You Tube I’ll have to watch on my iPad or computer.
  16. If the Brewers are in a battle with the Cubs for a playoff spot it’s going to be like the old days in the AL East when the Brewers were the “swing team” in the 7 team division and played all of their September games against teams from the West. In years like 1978 and 1979 when the Brewers were a handful of games out of first place it took some of the excitement out because they had no head to head games against the division leaders to make a big jump.
  17. I have a weekend 10 pack and for the last 3 years, when I started selling the tickets, the games in our package have always been on Saturday nights. I’m sure those are easier to sell than ones on week nights or in September after schools and football have started. Our seats are in the first row of section 424, just to the third base side of home plate. For people who know what they’re doing, the view is much better than seats that are lower down, but down the lines, which generally cost more. I think we are able to get more than for seats that are just a few rows back because of the front row (more leg room) premium.
  18. I have always gotten more than twice face value on my Cubs tickets. For the Saturday game in July this year I got $70 each on $25 first row terrace box seats.
  19. I wish they would make the “rivalry” AL/NL six games instead of four. The set up now forces two game series on the weekdays...lame to me. We are so close I don’t see why they can’t schedule a four game series and have the teams play Thursday/Friday and then travel to the other site for Saturday/Sunday. They have done that some years with the games on Monday-Thursday. They did that as recently as 2017 with the Brewers and Twins and I know that wasn’t the only time. Last year they played the Twins 6 times, probably because the AL Central was the interleague matchup.
  20. They were in Atlanta on a weekend this May. They also played in Atlanta on weekends in 2017 and 2018. They would have played in Miami on a weekend in 2017 if the games hadn’t been moved to Milwaukee because of the hurricane.
  21. I think I’m going to be in Florida for Opening Day. So, if I renew my 10 pack my Opening Day tickets will be for sale. Should be able to bring in enough to get me tickets for 3 other games.
  22. I also see that all 3 home Cubs series are on weekends.
  23. The cardinals are the one. Look at the schedules. We are going to have to win the series against the cardinals to make the playoffs. Pirates blowing this today hurts. So we lose a game this weekend. And now they have the royals and we get the twins. The Mets schedule gets really tough I knew that the Pirates were in the dumpster, but I hadn’t focused on how bad it was. They went into the All Star break feeling pretty good about themselves after winning 3 of 4 from the Cubs and 2 of 3 from the Brewers to pull within 2.5 games of first place. Assuming they don’t come back today after blowing a 4 run lead in the seventh inning they have gone 4-24 since then. Now THAT is REALLY bad.
