    Mitchell a lot like Turang. His bat will take time, but you can tolerate it to an extent when you play above average defense.

    It sure would be nice, but I don’t expect it. You combine an unlimited payroll with a really good front office, and their roster is just flat out better. In a playoff series you would need a huge hot streak from us combined with catching them in a cold spell. It’s baseball so possible, but I wouldn’t bet on it.

    I don’t hate it yet, mostly because we didn’t give up anything. A bad outing against the Dodgers doesn’t mean much, they just knocked Skenes around too. His next 2 starts against the Cards and A’s will be more telling to me.

    Churio been great lately but if he just plays it safe and fields that ball on a hop the game is tied or we’re ahead. Diving and missing allowed at least one extra run to score. Murphy pulling Myers makes no sense unless he was ill or cramping or hurt…

    Yea, I get that. Every once in a while you get the change of scenery, pitching philosophy, or pitch usage that sparks something. I think Montas has a little more arm talent than some of the other starter options we have, that leads me to want to give it a chance. I don’t think he’s a washed up reclamation project type.

    Montas has some arm talent, I’ll give him a few starts with our coaching staff before judging the trade. If they can get him right he is a playoff starter that gives you a chance.

    Murphy’s son plays in the Padres system. Those are his grandchildren.

    This was my main criticism of the pick, by the time he plays he’s expensive. You completely lose the window to win with a cheap QB on a rookie deal.
