  1. David Stearns essentially assured fans they will not do a complete tear down after the Hader trade.
  2. In 391 AB at 1B this year, Tellez has .811 OPS. This is #12 in MLB for qualified 1B. A few 1B ahead of Tellez are: Matt Olson: .812 OPS, $15 million Josh Bell: .823 OPS, $10 million Anthony Rizzo: .830 OPS, $16 million Jose Abreu: .830 OPS, $19.6 million Rowdy Tellez for $1.9 million is a more effective player than anyone on this list, dollar for dollar.
  3. It would be great if Ethan Small can have a good outing tomorrow. 11 BB in 11 IP in August.
  4. In the past 20 years, how many prospects have we traded where we genuinely regret missing out on their major league production? The list below are some recent prospect trades: Cooper Hummel for Eduardo Escobar JP Feyereisen and Drew Rasmussen for Willie Adames Mauricio Dubon for Drew Pomeranz Jesus Aguilar for Jacob Faria Seems like a bust Cody Ponce for Jordan Lyles Kodi Medeiros for Joakim Soria Brett Phillips and Jorge Lopez for Mike Moustakas Brinson, Yamamoto, Harrison and Diaz for. Yellich Garrett Cooper for Tyler Webb Cooper has been pretty good Khris Davis for Jacob Nottingham and Bubba Derby Luis Sardinas for Ramon Flores Mitch Haniger and Anthony Banda for Gerardo Parra Haniger is usually productive Nicky Delmonico for K-Rod Jake Odorizzi and Lorenzo Cain for Zach Greinke Brett Lawrie for Shaun Marcum JJ Hardy for Carlos Gomez Cole Gillespie for Felipe Lopez Michael Brantley & Matt LaPorta for CC Sabathia Nelson Cruz and Carlos Lee for Francisco Cordero and Kevin Mench
  5. Small distinction, article mentions it is actually group ticket sales down from 600,000 to 400,000. No mention of season ticket sales.
  6. Only 15,030 for paid attendance on July 4 against the reigning World Series champions? 122 pitches for Ron Robinson that day. https://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/MIL/MIL199007040.shtml

  8. The June NL Central leading Milwaukee Brewers: Best, worst team ever or worst, best team ever?
  9. I noticed Taylor’s OPS for June was below .300 and wanted to take a moment to say something positive about Lorenzo Cain but then realized Cain’s OPS for June is .000.
  10. 1994: 53-62 record. 1995: 65-79 record 1996: 80-82 record 1997: 78-83 record 1998: 74-88 record 1999: 74-87 record Kevin Seitzer, Ricky Bones, Mike Fetters, John Jaha, Scott Karl, Jeff Cirillo, Dave Nilsson, Ben McDonald, Jeromy Burnitz, Doug Jones, Bob Wickman, Fernando Vina, Steve Woodard Not a lot of excellence from this era.
  11. I miss Alex Sanchez and Jeffrey Hammonds, circa 2002.
  12. Interestingly, Reyes has a higher career minor league OPS than Andujar. Both with over 2,400 career minor league AB.
  13. I’d rather try any of our guys in Nashville or even Biloxi than Andujar. Not a lot to dream on with Andujar since 2018.
  14. Too many walks, I agree. Small has a much better K/9 rate and OPS allowed in the minors compared to Brent Suter (when he was in the minors). Granted, a lot of Suter’s time came at Colorado Springs, hitters park. Maybe Small can be effectively wild out of the bullpen? In the short term, aiming to get six or nine outs rather than going 6 innings.
  15. From Small’s 2.2 IP: .571 BABIP - some bad luck there 57% GB 4 K is great 4 BB is not 4.64 FIP, respectable Curious when we will see him again. Obviously, a microscopic sample size. Better than Ashby’s debut against the Cubs ?
  16. I remember staying up late to watch Ben Hendrickson’s debut against the Dodgers in 2004. 5 IP, 7 H, 4 ER, 2 BB, 2 K. Took the loss. 3 RBI from Paul Lo Duca was too much to overcome. https://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/LAN/LAN200406020.shtml
  17. I remember staying up late to watch Ben Hendrickson’s debut against the Dodgers in 2004. 5 IP, 7 H, 4 ER, 2 BB, 2 K. Took the loss. 3 RBI from Paul Lo Duca was too much to overcome. https://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/LAN/LAN200406020.shtml
  18. Brosseau has a higher OPS this year than: Javy Baez, Kris Bryant, Corey Seager and Carlos Correa. Bryant seems to have back issues and Baez OPS is .542. These seem to be good small sample datapoints In support of not always chasing a ‘needle moving’ deals.
  19. I am hopeful for another excellent start by Lauer but an ounce concerned by his one strikeout in five innings, last outing. Lauer was solidly striking out more than a batter per inning, prior to his most recent start. Anyone can have a rough start, so I will remain optimistic. It is nice that a rough start is 5 IP with only 2 ER.
  20. Jason Alexander is fresh and went 7 IP for Nashville last week. Not on the 40-man though. Start Suter and make it a bullpen game with Barker and Strzelecki called up? Not a lot of length there, though.
  21. Who will take Woodruff’s turn in the rotation tomorrow?
  22. I was surprised to see Biloxi in first place given their 22-21 record. The Shuckers have best home record, worst road record and best record against teams over .500 in Southern League. Also, fewest games played against teams over .500.
  23. Brewers are 17-11 in May, .607 winning percentage. After losing 4 of 6 at Cincinnati and Atlanta, Milwaukee has gone on to win 12 of 18.
