  1. Would we have done this trade if Quero wasn’t injured?
  2. Objectively and subjectively, where do you see reliable starter for August and September from Quintana? I appreciate ERA is crude and unsophisticated but it isn’t nothing either. I see amazing April and replaceable starter since. We obviously give Cortes a shot. I agree Cortes could be similarly effective as Quintana with higher ceiling.
  3. Or DFA Quintana, if no one offers anything. Maybe we get a lottery ticket. If not, Quintana has served us well enough but he is the obvious odd man out.
  4. Haase career in Milwaukee: .727 OPS (142 PA) Contreras (2025): 688 OPS (426 PA) Haase 2025: .636 OPS (73 PA) I trust our pitchers perform better with Contreras. I don’t see evidence that Haase couldn’t handle an additional start at catcher per week.
  5. I’m sure you meant hitting the ball hard and in the air but he did have a 105 mile per hour ground out yesterday
  6. I guess Cubs will get Taillon and Assad back from injuries In August 🤷‍♂️
  7. The Brewers have third best run differential in MLB and are within shouting distance of Cubs. I guess that happens when you win 60% of time.
  8. Frelick back to RF. Perkins to 4th OF. That should help the offense. Every time I start to think Yelich should reduce his plate appearances, he goes on a tear. We can probably add a bat for DH that outperforms Yelich, though. Sure, if we can get a better offensive shortstop, that’s great too. It should be noted that Joey Ortiz is nearly at replacement level this season. 🙂
  9. I perceive a lot of worry on the north side. However, those transactions appear to be signing 2025 draft picks. if Shota is injured again, it is difficult to imagine how the Cubs piece together an effective rotation without meaningfully diminishing their farm system.
  10. Not rooting for injury but I would not want my ace saying he is unfazed by velo dip after getting shelled by White Sox. https://www.mlb.com/news/shota-imanaga-lasts-three-plus-innings-against-white-sox
  11. What is more crazy? A championship caliber team proactively seeking Houser or Houser performing well enough that it might make sense?
  12. Agreed. It’s not like the Cubs lack .800 and .900 OPS bats
  13. Adames with 1.105 OPS in July. Nearly at 1.5 WAR now. He could end up providing positive contract value this year.
  14. Tyler Black doing his best Andrew Vaughn impression. Hoskins could be third string 1B next month.
  15. Imanaga, Boyd, Rea, Horton and Brown doesn’t seem like enough starters. Even when Taillon returns. Unrelated note. Erik Fedde DFA’d today by Cardinals. He was a 2024 trade deadline darling.
  16. Plenty of time left for criticism? 🤷‍♂️
  17. Royals starting 45-year old Rich Hill today against the Cubs. Northside Baseball Cubs site seems to be hoping very hard for Suarez, multiple starting pitchers and bullpen help at the deadline.
  18. If Ortiz put up .700 OPS the rest of the way, would that be good enough? Genuinely asking. I otherwise agree with your points.
