    I can’t imagine a better player that could conceivably sign with us on a one-year $22 million deal. at the same time, I haven’t thought very hard about this.

    Milwaukee has frequently been comfortable spending money on one or two year commitments. Peralta, Woodruff and our cast of young starters could be formidable.

    You are right. At the same time, if the players collectively bargain for this system, then it is fair in that regard. This is what players signed up for.

    Suter turns 37 next summer: 4.52 ERA last season. 4.57 FIP Ten seasons under his belt, so far. I assume he gets a major league contract somewhere? I think his days are numbered, though.

    That could be nice. At the same time, I think Contreras will be eager to get his $100M guarantee after 2027 season. Whoever signs Contreras in 2028 will have a 30-year-old catcher with a lot of miles on him. If anyone can fight through injuries and aging, it is probably Contreras, though.

    Like 99% of players, it is hard to imagine Milwaukee being happy with paying over $100M for a player that is in their 30’s and assuredly past their prime. Brewers have two more seasons of Contreras. Yelich has three seasons left on his deal. Maybe we give Contreras the Yelich money in 2029 and beyond? I assume we hope Quero is the future but maybe Contreras becomes our Salvador Perez 🤷‍♂️

    Contreras receives a $100,000 buyout check (he otherwise would not have received) for the ‘insult’ of the Brewers exercising their choice to trust the collectively bargained arbitration process, which I assume they will still avoid. I trust the Brewers do a fair job communicating their business thinking before, during and after the decision.

    Depends if he adds another 25 lbs of muscle. Frelick might look like Eric Thames by spring. 💪

    I doubt playing with a broken finger helps Contreras during arbitration. It is hard to quantify that value. Regarding reward, Contreras will get at least $10 million from Milwaukee this season. He will be fairly compensated in 2026.

    Obviously right call on Hoskins. I think we captured the right amount of value with one year of Quintana. I’m sure we could always trade for him in 2026, if necessary 🙂

    I assume the expiring collective bargaining agreement makes Milwaukee more risk averse to committing long term money this offseason. Unless,…every team becomes risk averse and the Brewers sense an inefficiency. 🤷‍♂️

    I feel like we’ve all spoken our piece on Peralta. Let’s keep him for $8 M and take the draft pick. If we do trade him, let’s hope for something better than Ortiz and Hall 🙂 2026 Brewers will be the most likely team to win the division next year. Let’s have at least one top of the rotation veteran.

    Perkins seems very well liked by Murphy and the organization. We seem to place a fair emphasis on having good people in the clubhouse, too.

    From what I’ve read, Contreras would expect approximately $11 million in arbitration. I guess it’s easy for me to say that $1 million is no big deal in order to avoid arbitration in this instance. 🤷‍♂️

    I didn’t mind the Brewers taking Burnes to arbitration to save money. I think it is poor form to pay $100,000 buyout on Contreras for the opportunity to tell him why he isn’t worth $12 million. Contreras’ injuries this season are complicating but man…what a gritty 4 WAR season with .754 OPS. William certainly needed to grind in 2025.

    I don’t think we want to pay Freddy deep into his 30’s. Next year seems fine, though.
