  1. Red Sox take game one against the Cardinals doubleheader. Padres tie the Cubs late
  2. Hader’s minor league WHIP 1.22 Misiorowski’s minor league WHIP 1.21 Ultimately, it’s about baserunners allowed 🤷‍♂️
  3. Hader was 5 BB per 9 innings in AAA in 2017. Misoiorowski was nearly identical in AAA last year. 🤷‍♂️
  4. Most home runs allowed by Brewers over nine game span is 24 back in September 1997. Jeff D’Amico served up quite a few. Fun looking at the old box scores, including a 1997 loss to 22 year Jeff Suppan when he was a member of the Red Sox. Our current Brewers have only allowed 21 home runs in nine games. https://stathead.com/tiny/bQOeZ
  5. Nestor is expecting the birth of their first child this month. April 12, if you believe Google AI. This could easily be a two week parternity leave for Cortes without meaningful injury to his elbow.
  6. Spiers allowed 17 H, 7 BB, 15 R, 14 ER with 11 K over 11 IP against Milwaukee last season. Spiers’ one start against the Brewers did not go well for him. Hoskins has 1.571 OPS versus Spiers over 7 PA. Nearly every Brewer has hit Spiers well.
  7. Initial take: Hudson doesn’t seem like he will be our second most valuable reliever this year, so far.
  8. Carlos Rodriguez and Misiorowski both pitching well to start the season in Nashville. 1.00 ERA for CRod over 9 IP and 0.00 ERA for Miso over 8.2 IP
  9. Haase will catch Patrick tomorrow. Let Bauers play first? Chourio, Mitchell and Frelick in the outfield. Dunn at 3B, Ortiz at SS and Turang at 2B Yelich at DH, I imagine. Or, Contreras. Bullpen is nearly at full strength tomorrow with off day on Monday
  10. Sal Frelick .400 batting average watch (.396 now)
  11. We didn’t have enough fresh arms to pitch this game much differently. Maybe Grant Anderson or Peguero/Koenig with a lead.
  12. 109 mph off the bat from Dunn. #tools #believe
  13. Cubs are 7-2 since returning to America. They even took the first two games against the Padres, who appear to be a tough team.
  14. The Brewers have had countless eight game slow starts from catchers to start the season as measured by OPS. Not sure if that is comforting. 🙂 https://stathead.com/tiny/EyLHY
  15. Braun, Yount and Cooper have all had eight game slow starts as # 3 hitters. https://stathead.com/tiny/85x0N
  16. Dunn has good numbers in the minors from 2022-2024, mostly AA. He is 27 now. Baseball Savant sees bat speed, some hard contact, good sprint speed and decent range. I don’t think Dunn deserves 500 plate appearances to evaluate performance. Let’s see how he is doing on May 1?
  17. Ryan Braun in 2007? 🙂🤷‍♂️
