  1. I think you are massively over valuing Heim here. There’s a good chance he is nothing more than a mid-level backup going forward.
  2. I might toss Jesus Broca in the depth mix after his Fall League success as well. Should start out at AA, but could easily be in a leverage role there.
  3. Arias might be around that value point, but only if he is being pushed off their roster by Bazzana and/or Brito in spring training. But, yah, probably not now.
  4. With Dinges, the write-up felt like the drop from some of the other rankings had more to do with questions about whether his build is conducive to the grind of being an everyday catcher than being lower on his play or talent.
  5. I have to think the Brewers are going to sign, at minimum, a AAAA-type catcher. Dinges is probably starting in AA, and while the Brewers theoretically could go into the season with some combination of Wood, Miller and Ramon Rodriguez in AAA, I doubt they will, especially with Quero not being established at the big league level himself.
  6. Outside of being only one of five, I believe, from his signing class to tally 200+ at-bats above low-A, is there anything positive to take from Lluyin Alastre’s time with the Timber Rattlers?
  7. It feels like this is one of those both sides are correct deals. 1. If Ortiz is your 9th best position player, that is a good place to be. 2. Upgrading Ortiz to even a Durbin-level hitter (or Ortiz becoming that guy) would have a bigger impact on the Brewers offense than a similar upgrade on many teams just because of their offensive style and the number of times their No. 8 and 9 hitters comes up with runners on.
  8. If you’re looking at hitters, what about Cameron Cauley from Texas? Really fast up the middle defender. He finished strong and the strikeouts ticked down last year. Was one of a small group of prospects Fangraphs had listed as must protects who weren’t.
  9. Someone, I think Longenhagen, had posited in 2024 that Rodriguez and Quinton Low seemed headed toward being protected this year. If only things had turned out that way.
  10. While I am not a fan of really dogmatic approaches, the Brewers didn’t really miss much avoiding corner infielders in the first couple of rounds of those years. I would rather have Sal Stewart than Brown, but the only real miss I could find in the first two rounds was picking the wrong corner infielder, Erceg over Alonso. Casas has been decent, but I’d rather have Turang.
  11. A lot of encouraging stuff from the Baseball America chat, from the Dorchies answer to Fisher’s defense to how if Dinges was more advanced defensively the only question would be how high on the top 100 list he’d be.
  12. While I usually love unhinged minor league names and promotions, I am a little surprised that a Red Sox affiliate would have part of their name be one letter from Yanks.
  13. Man, I feel like I will be able to enjoy the NLCS. That series, losing to the Cubs would have been the only thing to put a damper on what this team has done this season. Now that trepidation is gone.
  14. I was watching the game delayed, so apologies if someone already made this point, but the Cubs have given up 0 runs in the 8 2/3 innings pitched by former Brewers and 16 in the other 7 1/3.
  15. When he is pitching like that, Uribe is just unfair. That ninth was something.
  16. I was reading Keegan Bradley’s defense of Bryson DeChambeau today in relation to the Ryder Cup, and the first thing that popped into my head was the Ted Lasso episode “The Signal,” to the point where I am half expecting a shot of Bradley and the assistant captains flipping DeChambeau off in unison.
  17. I could be wrong since I was 5 in 1987, but from my experience looking through a newspaper’s archive room, if the photo was slated for a black and white page, a color version of it might never have been produced.
  18. Since July 1, the Brewers are now, in the National League rankings: - 1st in runs scored, and the difference between them and second place Philadelphia is greater than the difference between the Phillies and 14th ranked Pirates. - 1st in steals - 2nd lowest strikeout rate - 3rd most homers - 3rd highest ISO In that span, they have more homers than the Cubs and Dodgers and a lot more than the Padres.
  19. To add on to this, since June 1, he has the highest fWAR of any NL position player at 2.7.
  20. While Anderson obviously has work to do, he also is one of only 10 players to tally 200 low-A at-bats in their age 18 season this year. Time is on his side.
  21. Unless I am forgetting someone, Jose Quintana has the worst ERA among active Brewers pitchers. It is also better than the average ERAs of all but one major league team (including, bizarrely, the Brewers).
  22. Along with the other reasons mentioned, it is possible that the organization thought the month in high A would be more beneficial to Made than Adamczewski, give him an exposure to higher level pitching and things to work on heading into the offseason that ironically might not benefit the more advanced bat of Adamczewski as much.
