  1. Added my thoughts in BOLD above.
  2. I'm sure this is posted in another thread somewhere.....but what do we know about this Hoff kid? Is this a guy that could turn into a legit prospect? Certainly have to like the 6'5" frame as starters.
  3. So, what would it take to get Luzardo? I know every team in contention this summer is going to be reaching out to the Marlins, so the asking price I'm sure is going to be STEEP. But, what would it take from the Brewers to land him? Would a package like this get it done: Quero Mitchell Wichrowski Blalock Is that too much? Too little?
  4. I'm fascinated by this as well. He's almost like the Zach Edey of MLB. If he were born 20-30 years earlier, he'd be valued by everyone in the old MLB (just as Edey would have in the NBA), but the game has changed so much in terms of what teams value out of certain positions.
  5. What do we guess the recovery times will be for Wilken and Pratt to return to action this season? Man though…this has been a brutal start to the season on the injury front.
  6. Ok….thanks for the info.
  7. Might have missed this in another thread, but is Bitonti hurt? Or was he just not ready to make a full-season roster?
  8. I'm right with you. In my mid-40's and having Ueck on the call as my "soundtrack of summer" is literally all that I know. I think we can all agree that he's definitely taken a step back with his PBP calling of games over the past 5+ years especially (as you'd expect from someone that is now 90 years old), but man will I miss him greatly when he's no longer around. The man is a national treasure, and thankfully he's been our treasure for the past 50+ years! When he stopped going on road trips several years ago, you had the feeling that the end may be near. Now, with him turning 90 and also cutting back on his home schedule, I really get the sense that the end isn't that far away. I'm really going to try to make it a point to tune in as many of his calls that I can this summer.
  9. Clearly, the Brewers coaching staff must see something in Clarke behind the plate that have them intrigued enough to keep getting him looks at that position this spring. Otherwise, I'm not sure why they wouldn't just call him a 1B/DH and be done with it? The kid clearly has some legit pop with the bat, so it does make you wonder why they don't just let him settle in at 1B where he probably doesn't have to think as much about his defense each and every day? Again, that tells me that they must see something that nobody else is seeing right now about his potential as a catcher.
  10. Obviously, this could all change if Wiemer absolutely crushes the baseball all spring - but I've got to believe he'll start the year in AAA this year due to our OF situation, and I think getting some consistent AB's down there with his new swing will be good for him. Hopefully, he'll be able to have some success down there, and regain some of that confidence at the plate that he might have lost last year struggling at the MLB level.
  11. And, for the record - I absolutely LOVE the signing. Just questioning how much we'll actually give him in guaranteed money.
  12. No way we'd be giving him 17M in this deal, is there? Maybe he could earn that much with incentives, but there certainly won't be 17M in guaranteed $$, right? That would seem insane to me, considering how difficult it is for pitchers to come back from shoulder injuries like this.
  13. I was initially going to suggest a Lesko and Iriarte package in return for Frelick. But, I wasn't sure if Arnold would want a guy that hasn't yet pitched above A-ball as the headliner coming back in a deal for someone like Sal? I think Snelling would be the preferred guy to get back, but just not sure how likely it is that the Pads trade him? If we could somehow get Snelling and either Thorpe or Iriarte for Sal....I think I'd pull the trigger right away on a deal like that. But, something tells me the Pads wouldn't.
  14. Not sure if the Brewers or Padres would do this deal, but curious for thoughts on a Frelick for Thorpe and Iriarte package? I'm guessing both Thorpe and Iriarte would start this year at AAA, and depending on their success there (and the need at the MLB level), they might be ready for a MLB call-up at some point during this upcoming season? Would certainly add another couple of high quality arms to our system.
  15. Well, if we're trading a guy like Frelick to the Pads - I can't see a 17-year old that was just signed this winter as someone that Arnold would be targeting in the return back. I think he'd be looking to get at least 1-2 of the Pads young arms coming back in return. Or, perhaps someone like Merrill.
  16. Who is this De Vries that you’re suggesting we go after?
  17. Am I crazy for loving the fact that we got even a lotto ticket prospect for Andrews? I'm honestly not sure if I could love this deal anymore than I do? Never in a million years did I think we'd be able to fetch anything for a guy like Andrews, so to get a young 19 year old pitcher that maybe has some upside is pretty exciting to me.
  18. Yeah, it would be great to get Snelling, and I would guess that it would take Frelick + another good prospect (even though Frelick technically has more current surplus value on BTV)? But, if someone else feels strongly that we shouldn't have to give up more than Sal, then that's even better! I'd hate to lose Sal, but if our FO feels strong enough that either Mitchell or Wiemer will end up being good big league starting OF's, then I think it's a risk that would be worth taking - if you can get an arm like Snelling back in return.
  19. Just looking at their prospect list, they've got five very intriguing arms in their top 10 prospect list. Snelling, Lesko, Thorpe, Iriarte and Mazur. Seems like we could probably line up on a prospect for prospect type deal, no? We have an abundance of OF's and they have what appears to be an abundance of SP prospects. Just taking a look at the BTV site and their surplus value placed on the players that could be in play here: Brewers OF: Mitchell - 15.2M Frelick - 35.4M Wiemer - 15.5M Padres SP: Snelling - 25.7M Lesko - 24.4M Thorpe - 18.5M Iriarte - 10.6M Mazur - 5.7M How about a Frelick/Snelling straight up swap? Who says no there? (Guessing Preller says "no?") Or, a Mitchell for Thorpe straight up swap? Who says no to this one?
  20. I see that Nightengale is reporting that the Padres continue to be active in trade discussions, and willing to take on more in budget. Do we match up with them at all for any of our players? I'm guessing they might be looking to trade Kim who only has one year left on his deal, so they aren't going to have much interest in Adames, right? Would there be interest in doing yet another closer trade with them - this time with Devin? What about OF? I'm thinking they must have a need there after they traded both Soto and Grisham?
  21. For all of the reasons you mentioned above, I would love to see Mark and Matt work out some type of a deal for Woody - similar to what you outlined above.
  22. Yeah, I think you're right. I would guess that Frelick, Gasser and Wilken gets the deal done yesterday. But, if I'm Arnold - I have no interest in that deal.
  23. If the Sox asked for Chourio in a package back for Cease, I'm sure Arnold would laugh hysterically and then politely end the conversation. Even Misiorowski would be a major stretch for us to give up on for a guy in Cease that definitely pitched more like a mid-rotation guy this past year. I think the only way we'd give them "Miz" as a headliner is if our FO really didn't think he had the potential to become a TOR type arm in the big leagues. If you thought his future was definitely as a high leverage relief arm - then maybe you include him as the main piece going back in a deal for Cease. But, I think our FO still thinks that "Miz" has starting potential in the big leagues. So, I don't think there is any way we'd trade either of those guys for Cease. MAYBE they would consider Quero as a headliner, but didn't the Sox just trade for the other catching Quero prospect from the Angels last summer? So, I doubt they'd have much interest in him coming back as the main piece. I think Frelick could absolutely be a main piece going back, as was suggested above. I think we'd have to throw in someone in the 6-10 range from our prospect list (maybe Gasser or C Rod), and then maybe someone like Logan Henderson?
  24. I know it's just one guy's opinion - but I see that Keith Law put River Ryan at #33 on his Top 100 prospect list that just came out in the past week or so. I think he's the only one to have Ryan in a Top 100 list, but it also shows that he's got some upside. IF we could get Ryan as the headliner in an Adames trade, I think I'd jump all over it if I were Arnold. Then, go use the $$ you save by not having Adames to make a Hoskins type offer to Matt Chapman.
  25. If the Dodgers were willing to give us Hurt, Sheehan and Stone for Williams, the deal would have already been finalized. I'm not sure if the Dodgers even offer us that package for both Williams and Adames....but I can't imagine there is any way we are getting those three arms for just Devin.
