  1. I'm going to guess that Westburg would probably cost us a package of Pratt, Henderson, Lara and either Hardin/Wichrowski. O's aren't going to be motivated to move Westburg with 4.5 years of control left, so you're going to have to severely overpay to get him.
  2. Not sure I agree? If you swap in Pratt to that package, I'm pulling the trigger on that deal immediately if I was Arnold....and to me that's always a sign that the package is probably too light. Maybe I'm wrong (and we'll most likely never know of course), but I think the Nats would need to be absolutely overwhelmed with a return package to even entertain dealing Abrams. Not sure if Pratt as the headliner is going to do that for them?
  3. Agreed that the original trade package isn't nearly enough. I'm going to guess that it would take the following: Made or Pena Ortiz Henderson Letson Abrams is an elite level big leaguer at a premium position, with 3+ years of control before FA. Any package going back for him is going to have to sting. The above package would definitely sting.
  4. Yeah, a big "no thanks" for me on Otto Lopez. I'm sure he is a decent SS, but I'm certainly not giving up Pratt for a guy that's not going to be an impact guy in the lineup. The way Ortiz has been playing coming out of the break, I'd just assume that we roll with him if this would be our best trade target to improve the SS position.
  5. Do we know for sure if O's will be listening on Bautista at the deadline here? I'm pretty sure he still has 3.5 years of service time left, correct? So, guessing he's going to cost way too much for our liking in terms of prospect capital. Just for giggles, what do we think it would take in terms of a prospect package to get him?
  6. Can someone give me the scouting report on Kuehner? All this dude does is put up great outings it seems. Is he legit back-mid rotation guy in the bigs, or will his stuff eventually get hit as he moves up to AAA and potentially if he gets to MLB?
  7. Nevermind! What do I know??!! This is nuts!
  8. We might just have to go easy college signs from here on out, if we want any chance at signing a few of these recent HS picks (and the JUCO kid).
  9. Pretty sure that he has a sister that is a top 25ish recruit in the entire country in her class for basketball.....so that would definitely check out with both of their parents being great athletes!
  10. Flores is a guy that @Spencer Michaelishas been talking about for several weeks now, and an obvious link there with Adamczewski and Griffin Tobias coming from the same HS. Looks like a a great pick there!
  11. @Spencer Michaelis really loved Gavin Fien I know, and I think there was some thought he'd be available at 20, so that's one guy off the board that we might have targeted.
  12. I’m sorry, but I have a hard time seeing any deal for Abrams or Neto without either Made or Pena going back as the headliner in the prospect package. I’d guess it would have to look like Made, Quero, Hendu and maybe a guy in the 20-30 range of our system. A deal for either of those guys would have to hurt a lot for the Nats or Angels to even consider.
  13. Yeah, I don't get the "hate" on Wilken. The guy was having an absolute break-out season in AA this year before the injury, and for an organization that lacks power bats throughout - I'd really hate to see us trade him. With the injury now, I'm guessing this will be a moot point - at least for this summer's trade deadline anyways. And I also agree on Crow. Not sure what his current injury is that's keeping him from making his AAA debut, but the guy was absolutely dominating AA hitters so far this year. I'd hate to see him go to another team with his upside, unless of course we are getting a big-time bat in return that is controllable for multiple years (so a "no" for me on using Crow in a Suarez type trade).
  14. As @Spencer Michaelis noted in another thread recently, Chourio started his DSL career 0-19.....so maybe Acosta just wanted to follow in Jackson's footsteps - and this will all just be a funny afterthought in a few years when Cristopher is on the fast track to the big leagues? (We can all hope, right???)
  15. Smith-Shawver just went down with what appears might be a very serious elbow injury (TJ?). What could we get from the Braves in exchange for one of our SP? Would we have any interest in Nacho Alvarez, who appears is working his way back from an injury this year?
  16. I agree with you. The Pirates would ask for the MOON in return for Skenes (and rightfully so), but no team in their right mind would even come close to honoring their request. For that reason, I think Skenes will remain with the Pirates for at least 2-3 more seasons and they'll eventually trade him for a few good prospects when he's got a couple of years control before he hits FA. I would guess at that time he'll command one Top 50 prospect, one prospect in that 50-100 range and then one prospect who is a borderline Top 100 guy. That's assuming that Skenes has continued to develop himself into one of the top few SP's in all of baseball and also assuming that the acquiring team gets him for 1.5-2 years before he hits the open market.
  17. I agree....it just makes way too much sense for a trade to happen here sometime over the next couple of weeks. I know every team dreams of this "problem," but we simply have too many SP's and not nearly enough spots in the rotation. In fact, it would seem (if they all stay healthy) that we could trade one of them and still have way too many options for the handful of open spots. Civale would definitely make the most sense to trade. Obviously, a FA at the end of this season and a veteran guy that could be a nice back-end SP for a team in contention that is desperate for innings out of their rotation. I don't hate the Whitcomb idea with the Astros, but in reading up on him - sounds like he's a pretty major defensive liability at anywhere on the IF outside of 2B maybe? So, that might be a non-starter for the Brewers FO? What other contending teams are in desperation mode right now with their starting pitching?
  18. As much as this might appear to make sense short-term for the DBacks, I just can't see them trading Lawlar when there's going to be an opening at 3B for them next season after Suarez leaves in free agency. He's still considered a Top 10 prospect in all of baseball, and he was just recently called up to the big leagues as the DBacks are finding ways to get him on the field. I just cannot see them trading a guy like Lawlar for many different reasons, at least not for 1.5 years of Freddy.
  19. Sorry if I've missed this in another thread, but have we heard any updates on Letson this past weekend? Can we expect him back on the mound this week for the T Rats?
  20. https://x.com/baseballamerica/status/1926269590058779052?s=46&t=83zVtbZ6qN5Qh6uJB35lLA If Lagrange is now valued this highly, then there’s no way Yankees give us three borderline top 100 arms for Freddy.
  21. Yeah, I definitely agree with you on this. We definitely prefer guys that are either knocking on the door (Durbin) or guys that have gotten a small cup of coffee (Ortiz and Hall) in these types of deals. That's why I could see us asking for someone like River Ryan, Landon Knack or Justin Wrobeleski as part of the return. I could definitely see a scenario then where we might prioritize a Freeland over a Hope since he'd be knocking on the door of the big leagues....but with guys like Pratt, Wilken, Boeve, etc. already knocking on the door in our own system (not to mention Made, Pena and that next wave coming), I would definitely prefer seeing us go after either Hope or De Paula as the headliner in any trade with them.
  22. Overall I would say that I don't disagree with your assessment here. It's a solid value package coming back for Freddy, but I'm also not in love with it either. With our ability to develop our own pitching, I think I would prefer that we get a bat as a headliner coming back for Freddy, and if I had my choice it would be an OF bat. I feel like we have more than enough IF bats coming up through the system now, but we could really use another OF (someone in AA or AAA) that has some real prospect pedigree. Would love to get Hope or De Paula from the Dodgers if we could. I mentioned above, but I wonder if we couldn't get one of those two OF's as a headliner, and then have them throw in one of their young arms that is currently coming back from TJ surgery - like a River Ryan? Maybe that's asking for too much, but we'd also be taking on some significant risk taking an arm back in the deal that is coming off of a pretty significant injury. With that said though - I feel like the Dodgers run a very smart organization and after finally winning a World Series last year (at least a non-Covid one), I wonder how desperate they'll actually be this summer at the trade deadline?
  23. I think that’s a pretty accurate package of prospects we could expect for Freddy in return from the Yankees.
  24. I don't hate the idea of pitting a bunch of rival teams against each other at the deadline this year for Freddy. But, I have a hard time believing that any of the proposed deals would ever happen. GM's are typically too smart these days and way too risk-adverse to trade away top-level prospects in deadline deals - unless of course it's for a generational type player with multiple years of team control. Freddy certainly checks the box of a guy with multiple years (1.5), but I don't think he's going to fall into that "generational" player category. A solid TOR arm (but probably not an "ace"), but we're not talking a Juan Sota, Ohtani, etc. here. Here's what I think might be more realistic in a return for Freddy from these three NLW teams: Dodgers: I don't think it's out of the question to ask for one of Hope or Freeland, but I don't think we'd get both for Freddy. I'd ask for Zyhir Hope, River Ryan (coming back from TJ surgery this year, but should be ready for start of '26) and then a younger guy like Chase Harlan (or pick another 19-20 yr old in the 15-30 range of their system) Padres: Man....their system has been gutted in recent years (at least in terms of guys that are a year or two from being MLB ready)! Your demand of De Vries might be about the only thing that would be acceptable in looking over their current prospect list. Preller isn't afraid to get aggressive at the deadline, so if you can get him desperate enough he might just be willing to part with De Vries? If I were Arnold, I'd stick to my guns here and ask for De Vries and maybe someone like Braden Nett. Giants: I just can't see them giving up Eldridge for Freddy, and this is another farm system that I don't love right now. I'd probably ask for Whisenhunt, Bo Davidson and Trent Harris.
