  1. Yeah, I'm really glad that we didn't get too serious into talks with the Sox for Crochet. WAY too big of a prospect price to pay for two years of a pitcher that only has one year of SP track record. No thanks.
  2. I just don't see any way that we're going to have interest in Bassitt - who is also a FA at the end of next season, and is also owed $22M this upcoming season. I suppose there is zero chance that we could get Orelvis Martinez from the Jays in a Devin deal? I know he was suspended 80 games last year for testing positive for a banned substance. Maybe that would make him more available as a Top 100ish type prospect, but at the same time - maybe that would detract other teams from being interested in him?
  3. Meh....just not sure if Arnold will want to deal Devin for a guy like Rengifo - that you'd similarly only have control over through next season? And, I doubt either of those prospects are needle-movers?
  4. I agree with you 100% here. If these deals are the very BEST that Arnold & Co. can do this winter in a deal for Williams, then I say you just hold him and do what you did with Willy this past year. Win as many games as you can in your last year with Devin, and then take the comp pick next winter. Stott might be an intriguing option if we didn't already have Turang. But, an IF that would include Stott, Turang and Ortiz would really worry me from a power perspective. A lot of non-power hitting guys in that group, and I think if we're moving either Ortiz or Turang to SS - we need to then replace them at 2B or 3B with someone that has more of a power profile at the plate.
  5. Yes…..please keep this forum!
  6. Just to follow up on this idea....I still don't hate the idea of trading Devin to the Phillies for Bohm. We could then make a trade with the Rays for Lowe. Even if we can't pull off the Rhys/Civale deal to the Mets, you could still then put Rhys at DH (with the occasional game at 1B), Bohm mostly at 1B (maybe with the occasional game at 3B as needed), Lowe at 2B, Turang at SS and then Ortiz at 3B. Lineup would then look like: Chourio - RF Yeli - LF/DH Contreras - C Lowe - 2B Bohm - 1B/3B Rhys - DH/1B Frelick/Mitchell - CF/LF Ortiz - 3B Turang - SS I definitely don't hate that lineup!
  7. What's the talk about Stott coming out of Philly this winter? Is he someone that they'd be looking to potentially trade? If so...why?
  8. Well, if we don't think that Bohm can handle 3B (and sounds like he has some defensive deficiencies there), then he probably isn't someone that we'd target then - right? We already know that we've got Rhys coming back this season, so if Bohm is destined more for 1B/DH - then he really doesn't help us in our need to fill the 3B opening next year and beyond. Also, with as much as Murph loves Sal - I just can't see us moving him this winter.
  9. Judging by your package here, I'm guessing you feel that we can't get Bohm with just Devin? I don't have access to the MLB Trade Valuation site anymore to know what value they are placing on both Devin and Bohm. Does anyone have that? I'm guessing that Bohm does have a decent amount of additional trade value given his extra year, but just curious to know how much it is? I'm admittedly not as high on Black as I was a year ago (guessing most aren't), but I think he is still in most of the Top 100 prospect rankings still - so feels like we probably shouldn't have to throw in a Top 100 guy with Devin in order to get 2 years of Bohm, right? Or, am I just completely off in how I'm valuing this potential trade package?
  10. Here's a few "amendments" to your player acquisition proposals: 1) I posted this in a separate thread, but it appears that as some have anticipated - Alec Bohm is being made available by the Phillies this winter. I'd much rather see us trade Devin to Philly for Bohm - as I think it's a deal that makes a ton of sense for both sides. 2) I like the idea of trading for Luzardo (if he's available), but I think it's going to take more to get him. Assuming the Fish even value Black anywhere close to a Top 100 prospect, I think it would take Black and someone like Knoth to get talks started. If our front office and pitching lab thinks that they can get Luzardo back on the right track (and mostly, keep him healthy), then I think this is a deal that I would do. 3) If we were to get Bohm for Williams, I'm not sure if we'd still need someone like Mauricio? But, I don't hate the idea of still trying to find a trade partner for both Civale and Peguero.
  11. https://x.com/tylerkoerth/status/1856381396249423988?s=46&t=83zVtbZ6qN5Qh6uJB35lLA This feels almost too good to be true. Wouldn’t a Devin for Bohm trade help both teams here?
  12. I agree with you on this, and brought up a potential Freddy trade awhile back (not sure if it was in this thread or another thread). I love Freddy, and agree with some on here that maybe it wouldn't seem to make a ton of sense on paper to trade him this winter. But, if there's one thing that I'm not overly concerned about with this franchise right now - it's developing pitching. Even the guys we pick up from other teams that appear to be trending in a negative direction (looking directly at Civale and Montas from this past season), we seem to have a knack for fixing some of their issues and making them solid rotational pieces during their time with us. Why not capitalize on Freddy's trade value being relatively high this winter (with two cheap years left), and float him out there to see what teams might be willing to offer? If the offers aren't good (at least two high end, MLB ready prospects - ideally a 3B and P), then you hold onto him of course. But, maybe a team that loses out on some of the top free agent pitchers this winter (Burnes, Fried, etc.) gets desperate as the winter goes on and eventually offers us a package that is too good to turn down?
  13. My concern with your Boston package is that it feels like more of a quantity over quality situation. I guess that's the vibe I always get when I see a 4-for-1 trade. Meidroth in particular has some attributes that I definitely like (and that appear to match what we've been targeting in recent years), but I do worry about his lack of power profile and the fact that he would appear to be locked into 2B. Maybe I'm completely off with this comp, but he kind of reminds me of another Mike Boeve....and if he's the best guy you're getting back in the deal, then it seems like it's kind of pointless if you already have that player profile at AA in your system. Just my two cents, but I appreciate you throwing out some names that you think might be intriguing.
  14. I thought about suggesting Freeland in my post, but I wasn't sure if he was a guy that would be ready to start the year next year in the big leagues? Maybe he will be, but I have a feeling that Matt and Co. are going to be prioritizing guys that are big league ready in any deal for Devin this winter.
  15. Regarding the Dodgers as a potential trade partner, would a Williams for Lux swap work for both teams? Is Lux someone that we'd be interested in? I think he's got two more years before he hits FA, so he'd at least help bridge the gap before someone like Pratt, Made, etc. are ready to go, but he also is mostly a 2B at this stage, right? So, I'm guessing in this scenario we'd have to move Brice over to SS, keep Ortiz at 3B and Lux at 2B. Or, are there other guys in the Dodgers system that we should target instead? Obviously, we're going to target guys that either have MLB experience already, or guys that have proven everything they can in the minors and are ready to take that next step up to the majors at the start of next season. That of course limits the pool of potential trade candidates in a Devin deal.
  16. I see a lot of Bohm mentions here. Just curious though....why would the Phillies want to move him, and do they have a natural replacement for him at 3B? I know some have mentioned that maybe his playing time tailed off a bit in the later part of the year, but looking at their postseason box scores - he started three of their four playoff games at 3B. We already know that they free agent market at 3B is not great this winter, so it's not like there are going to be many great options for them to fill his spot on the open market either? While I know they're probably going to need relief help this winter, wouldn't they be better off signing a couple of the available FA arms, instead of trading away their starting 3B for a guy in Williams that only has one year before he hits free agency? Am I missing something here?
  17. I actually think the closers market is much better at the trade deadline than it is in the offseason. But, if we don't trade him this winter - then the chances of us trading him in July aren't great either as I think we'd all expect this team to be somewhere in the playoff hunt next season and there's now way Mark A and this front office are going to go through another Josh Hader situation from a couple of years ago.
  18. I don't think I'd want the risk of Moncada, but Polanco is a bit intriguing to me if you can get him on a 1-year deal. He's coming off of one of his worst years this past year, but he feels like he'd be a great "bounce back" candidate for '25. Guessing we'd have to play him at 2B though, and move Brice then to SS....so, I'm not sure if that is something the FO is looking to do?
  19. I’m with everyone on the Black value. I mean….if we’ve all become more concerned about his future as a big league player, you can bet that front offices across baseball see that as well. Here’s a question for folks here: would you trade Mitchell (take advantage of his value being high) for Robert? You’d still have Sal and Perk to cover CF.
  20. I don't mind your proposal here for next year's roster. A couple of questions that I have though: How sure are we that Josh Smith is a legit everyday 3B? From what I can see, it looks like his production really trailed off the final two months of the season. Was that just from him wearing down after not being used to playing that many games the previous two seasons, or is there more there to be concerned about? With a logjam there at SS and 3B with Seager and Jung, the Rangers would certainly be a potential trade partner this winter. Can we realistically afford to pay Robert the $55M he is owed over the last three years of his current contract? Are the White Sox definitely going to look to unload him this winter, and if so - do we think they'd eat some of his remaining contract if we gave them more prospect capital in return? And is that a risk we'd even be able to take on a guy that's definitely had some injury issues over the years? If you could get the healthy '23 Robert that was healthy most of the year, that would be a major addition to the lineup every day!
  21. With the Tigers getting their first taste of the postseason this year, and a young/up-and-coming team....would they at all be a good fit for a Devin trade this offseason (if the Guardians finish them off here in the ALDS)? With them needing to find room for Jace Jung, could a guy like Vierling be available? Guessing it would take more than just Devin though to get him back in a trade.
  22. Thanks for the breakdown here. When I looked at his overall stats, I certainly wasn't blown away - but it looked like he had a good WAR, so I figured I was probably missing some underlying qualities in his game. Doesn't look like a guy that would be an impact bat, but definitely a solid addition - and would help us with our SS/3B need next season.
  23. I've seen Perdomo mentioned in a couple of threads now as a potential trade target for Devin. Can someone fill me in on his game, as I'm not that familiar with him. Also, do we know if he's a guy that the Dbacks would realistically trade this offseason?
  24. Just curious, but what does Freddy have in terms of BTV? I no longer have access to that site now that they put it all behind a paywall.
