  1. Fair point, but isn't it very likely that we'll probably need to look to move him sometime in the next two years? So, why not take advantage of this when his value might be the highest with 2 cheap years remaining? I get that it probably is unlikely to happen, but with what appears to be decent SP depth at the top of our system right now (Myers, Rea, Hall, Civale, Miz, Patrick, C Rod, Gasser, etc.), maybe it wouldn't be the worst time to at least explore what the market would be like for Freddy this winter? Obviously, you don't deal him unless you are blown away with an offer, but maybe there is a team out there that would love two cheap years from a #2 type rotation arm that would be willing to give up a lot for that? Also, two rotation wild-cards next year could be Woody and Ashby. Honestly, I think both guys are probably more likely to be pen arms for us next year with their shoulder situations, but I'm still holding out at least a small bit of hope that one or both could become good rotation pieces again next year.
  2. No offense, but I don't think either one of those guys you mentioned are going to be the SS of the future for this franchise. I think it's much more likely that Pratt or Made would be that guy.....with the other hopefully moving over to 3B down the line?
  3. Curious to get some thoughts here on what we could possibly get in return if we were offering up both Freddy AND Devin in a mega-deal package? I know the conventional thought is that you want to trade guys individually, but I've got to think that packaging the two of these guys together this winter would bring back a haul from a team that wants to win now and needs pitching help. Some teams/thoughts that a friend and I have been texting about today: Tigers: a package starting with Jace Jung O's: a package starting with either Westburg or Mayo Red Sox: a package starting with either Campbell or Mayer Trading Devin alone might not bring a lot back in return, since he's going to be in his last year next year, and Freddy has two VERY cheap years left on his deal....so I would imagine that he would be a very hot commodity if we made him available. I know that you can never have enough pitching, but if there's one thing that we seem to do well - it's scouting and developing pitching that other teams for some reason can't seem to do nearly as well. So, why not deal from this strength and try to shore up some other weaker spots on our roster heading into next season? Would love some thoughts on teams that would be interested in landing these two guys, and what you think packages might look like coming back to Milwaukee?
  4. I don't hate this idea at all. It's a lot to give up for one guy, but I don't think I'd lose sleep over losing any of those four guys - and Westburg would fill a HUGE need on our roster over the next 3-4 years.
  5. We're in essence 4 games back of Philly with 6 games to play. I really don't think it matters what happens in that Cubs/Phillies series.
  6. Glad you started this thread, as I was just thinking about AFL rosters this past weekend. Can someone remind me what Boeve's injury was that ended his season? Would he even be able to play in the AFL due to the injury? If he can, then I would almost put him in the "lock" category with all of the time that he missed this year. With Wilken - I'm in the camp that you just have to let him get some time off at the end of this Biloxi season. In many ways this has been somewhat of a "lost" season for him, as it has really gone south after that promising month of July. I think he needs to hit a reset button going into next year, and not sure if sending him to the AFL right after the season gets done is a good idea. Hedbert seems like a no-brainer pick as well. I'd almost be floored if he's not on the roster. Would love to see Dinges or Burke sent to the AFL this year, but is it typical to have recent draft picks included? With their long seasons (both college and minors), I wonder if they'll want to get these guys some rest? Burke has missed a bunch of AB's though recently, so he might be a different story? Not sure what arms we'll send? Do we know the status of Crow? Would love to see him get some action down there, but it all depends of course on how he's recovering.
  7. In fairness here - they played today without two of the best players in the history of the DSL league (Made and Pena), so what can we really expect? (And I'm not even sure if I'm exaggerating that much with this statement?!).
  8. Anyone know why Boeve was lifted early in game 2 tonight? Hopefully not injury related.
  9. Sucks to see both Pena and Anderson dealing with injuries, as I think the season ends in about a week, right?
  10. I'm certainly no expert on this subject, and like you - I too would love to hear from someone like Spencer on KC Hunt, as he would probably have more insight than anyone on this subject. I did read the Baseball America mid-season report on him (they did rank him 29th in our system), and they were projecting him as a middle relief guy in the major leagues still. This was a bit surprising to me as I would have thought at the very least we might be looking at a back of the rotation starter type with the potential for perhaps a mid-rotation type arm?
  11. Yes, and Baseball America just updated all of their lists and have Gill Hill ranked #6 on the Rays updated list. So, he's absolutely a legit pitching prospect - and I'm guessing he'll see a promotion sometime soon to High A ball. No shame in our young Mudcats getting shut down by him last night.
  12. And, it's not like Wilken has exactly deserved a call-up to AAA this season. I know he had the scary facial injury earlier in the year that has probably slowed his progress this year, but I definitely was hoping to see more out of him in his first full-season in the organization. Good to see him hit the home run last night, but now need to see more consistency out of him this final month or two of the season.
  13. Can someone please explain to me why Monasterio is STILL on this MLB roster following the trade deadline. Are you really telling me that a selling team didn’t have a 4th or 5th utility IF that we could have traded for without having to give up much in prospect capital? Simply mind boggling!
  14. Am I the only one that thinks the Cards are performing highway robbery here? This feels somewhat similar to our 3-way deal where we got Contreras AND Payamps for Ruiz. I'm not saying that Fedde is going to impact the Cards as much as Contreras will for us over their time with their respective organizations, but this just feels like the White Sox and Dodgers failed to take a second look at this deal and didn't realize how little the Cardinals were actually giving up. Feels like the Cards at least should have had to give up one of their top 10 prospects to the Sox in this deal...no?
  15. Are we even sure that Cortes is that good? In looking at his numbers, it appears that he really only had one good season - and that was '22. I'm not sure if I'd want to give up much for this guy, but that's just me!
  16. Well, you got your wish. Now, I guess we hope that you're right and he fails miserably with the Cardinals for the next year and half!
  17. Agreed. I just laugh whenever I see someone mention Ashby as some type of valuable piece going back in a trade deal. Trust me folks....no other team wants to touch Ashby at this point, unless if the Brewers are eating up ALL of his remaining contract! And even then, he'd literally be a "throw-in" to any type of deal right now.
  18. I guess it depends though on how you value Carlos Rodriguez (P) and Wichrowski/Henderson. Personally, I value Wich and Henderson much more than C Rod at this point, but maybe the Sox would feel differently? In my package scenario, if we gave up Black, Wichrowski and let's say Areinamo - that would be our #3, #5 and # 23 ranked prospects (according to the updated BA list that was posted last week). The other poster had us giving up Mitchell (obviously a graduated prospect at this point), our #17 ranked prospect (C Rod the pitcher), and an unranked prospect in C Rod (the hitter). So, I'll stand behind my prospect package as being quite a bit more prospect/talent laden than the one being offered up by the other poster. But, obviously all of this is very subjective to the team's value on these guy that you are trying to work out a trade with.
  19. Here's my guess as to what it would take to get Fedde from the Sox One of Mitchell or Black (as the headliner) One of Wichrowski or Henderson Then, someone like Areinamo, Baez, Clarke or Guilarte I hope I'm wrong and it doesn't take this much, but I'd be really shocked if it doesn't.
  20. Hate to break it to you, but if this is the type of package the Sox would be asking for from Arnold, the deal would have already been done. It’s going to take more than this to get Fedde.
  21. Just listened to latest MLB Pipeline podcast. They’re hearing rumors that Levonas has huge asking price and may decide to go to Wake. Say it ain’t so!!!
  22. Ohhh.....wouldn't that be something! Anyone have any info on Jadyn? Did he have a college commitment somewhere that we may have lured him away from?
  23. I just went back to last year's draft and I had forgotten that Knoth actually signed under-slot with that comp round pick. Slot value was around $2.5M and we were able to sign him for around $2M. So yes....I'd be very shocked (and disappointed) if Burke isn't somewhere around that same amount this year.
  24. Out of all of those options listed above (taking Skubal and Crochet out, as I just don't think we'll want to give up what it will take to get them), I think the guy I want the most right now is Fedde. I like the fact that we'd have him next year as well, so you'd be adding another non-rental guy to go along with Civale. I feel pretty confident that it's going to take much more though than Rodriguez (assuming you are referring to Carlos?) and Wiemer to land him. I'd offer the Sox Mitchell and Wichrowski and see if they would accept that. Although, we might need to be OK giving up Black and Wichrowski in this deal if they counter back?
