  1. I think I might have misinterpreted your initial post when you said that he fits our prospect timeline. I was thinking that you meant that he would be under team control for several years, which he clearly would not. But, I see now that you were meaning he would be gone by the time that our prospects would be ready to contribute at the big league level. Overall, I think we're in agreement here. If you don't want to completely punt on this season (and next), then getting Bohm back in a deal for Megill could be a win/win for both teams? However, if you think this season is a lost cause from a playoff perspective, then you'd be better off getting more of a prospect package coming back for Megill - guys that would hopefully be ready for the next "winning window" that may come in '27 and beyond.
  2. Bohm is a FA after next season, so he's not necessarily a long-term solution at 3B. The only way you get him back in any deal with Megill is if you think this current team is a playoff team these next two seasons and a good (but not great) offensive 3B is the missing piece. Otherwise, I think the Brewers would be better off getting 2-3 prospects back in any deal with the Phillies for Megill, which you could then add those guys into the mix with the big group of prospects in our system that are still a year or two away from getting to Milwaukee.
  3. I brought this up in the Trade Rumors forum, but could we get Bohm in a package for Megill? I know he hasn't gotten off to a good start so far this year, but he'd still be a major upgrade offensively at 3B right now for us, and I think you'd be banking on him getting hot in the second half of the season. Or, would the Phils not entertain this because then it would leave them with a major hole at the hot corner? I was thinking maybe a package of Bohm and Chace initially, but if Chace is going under the knife - then maybe Bohm and McFarlane? Too little in return? Too much? Is Bohm a non-starter in any trade talks for Phils?
  4. I'd be all in favor of trading Megill to the Phils ASAP. However, it feels like the return is a bit light to me? Correct me if I'm wrong, but we still have Megill for 2.5 years before he hits FA, so wouldn't there be a bit more trade value coming back? I know he's had a bit of a rough start at the plate (although, maybe heating up a bit?), but maybe we ask for Bohm as part of the package coming back? Someone that could instantly help out our MLB roster, and a huge hole for us at 3B? Maybe ask for Bohm and Chace? Thoughts? Or, am I over-valuing Megill too much and what we could get in return for 2.5 years of control?
  5. I doubt we trade William this summer. Q is going to need some time still at AAA and coming back from his shoulder injury. Contreras is also not having a good season so far and we definitely don’t want to sell low on him.
  6. Agreed, and I'd probably throw Freeland into that mix as well.....although I think I'd prefer to see us get either Hope/De Paula as the headliner coming back as I think we've got a bigger organizational need in the OF than we do in the IF (even though you wouldn't think that just looking at the MLB club right now).
  7. Any chance the Dodgers would be interested in Freddy? And if so….would Zayir Hope be off the table?
  8. Curious to get thoughts here on what we could get from Boston if we packaged Fred and Rhys together? Could we get Mayer and a couple of their pitching prospects? If so, what pitching prospects could we realistically hope for?
  9. Sorry if I missed it, but what's going on with Ernesto Martinez Jr.? Feels like it's been at least a couple of weeks now since we've seen him in the Nashville lineup. Was he ever put on the IL, and what is the actual injury that he's dealing with? Do we have a timetable for when he might return?
  10. I'd love to swing a trade for Freeland, but I don't see any way that the Dodgers are doing a deal for Mitchell straight up. Mitchell is currently showing nothing at the plate so far this year and has a track record of injuries....so not sure what value he really even brings to a trade package at the moment? And I think you're overvaluing Frelick a bit too in thinking the Dodgers would give us Freeland AND either Pages/Miller. I'm actually not sure if the Dodgers would even do a Frelick/Freeland swap straight up?
  11. What do we make of no Made tonight? Feels odd he would be getting a night off this early.
  12. Absolutely hard "NO" on this!
  13. My GOD.....this has to go down as one of the worst free agent signings/contracts in MLB history, right? Maybe THE worst? The guy hit 34 bombs in 2019 (his last year in Washington). In the first FIVE years of his $240M contract with the Angels, he's hit a total of 22! I mean, it's remarkable how bad that contract his been for the Angels. Their owner might has well have taken $240M in cash and thrown it right into a blazing fire.
  14. Don't we have a pretty good (and recent) comparison for what a Cease package might look like? Heck, we just traded away a big time SP in Burnes last year at this time - and he too only had one year left before FA. With that said, I don't think Cease is quite to the level of a Burnes....so I think you could make an argument that it could be a slightly lesser package going back to the Pads. If memory serves me right, at their peak rankings - I think both Hall and Ortiz were back-end Top 100 prospects. In fact, during the '23 season MLB Pipeline had Hall at 97 and Ortiz at 99. So, with that said - there's no way the Brewers are giving up any prospect currently inside any of the Top 50 prospect rankings for one year of Cease - so that should rule out Q, Pratt, Miz (although we know his rankings fluctuate more than most due to his reliver projections) and definitely Made. I could make the case for a Gasser/Black package going back to SD, but we know Gas is coming back from TJ surgery, and how often do you see guys getting traded from one organization, only to be traded back to that org just a few years later? Seems like the odds are probably low of that happening. Maybe a Henderson and Boeve package? I wonder though if we'd have to throw in another lottery ticket type piece to that package too? Maybe a Jorge Quintana?
  15. Ha-Seong Kim signs with the Rays for two-years at 29M, with opt-out after first year. That seems like a lot to offer a guy that is coming off of shoulder surgery and probably won't even play until May sometime. I can see why we didn't do that deal at that money. Another one of the potential IF options though is off the table.
  16. See....and I was thinking that exact opposite: "How dare Law disrespect Made with that low of a rating!" 😂
  17. I thought the same thing yesterday. I know Robin is very private, but I would have figured that he would have released a comment through the team at least? Not judging the guy, but he is the 2nd biggest name in franchise history (behind Ueck), and we know how close the two of them were. Just is a bit odd that we haven't heard anything from him yet.
  18. Well said….and yes, I understand all of your feelings. I said earlier in this thread that it felt like I lost a family member. Then, when I thought about it even more I realized that I spent a lot more time with Bob (figuratively, not literally of course), than I probably have with all of my extended relatives combined. Bob has brought so much joy to many of us each summer, and that’s going to creat a huge void in my life moving forward.
  19. Man, I had hoped that I was done shedding tears, but watching BA break down at the end of that interview got me again! Somehow I missed that yesterday in all of the interviews, stories and tributes about Bob....so thanks for sharing.
  20. We knew this day was coming eventually, and after seeing so many players, front office members and his broadcasting mates in tears after the playoff loss in October, it certainly seemed like that might have been his last game on the mic. But, I was hoping that it might just mean he was retiring while he was still healthy to enjoy some years away from the park. This is absolutely heartbreaking. Safe to say that Brewers baseball will never be the same. I feel like I just lost a close family member! 😪
  21. Thanks for the breakdown here. Yeah, I guess we probably don't have as much leftover as I thought we might. And, as you pointed out - we might want to hold onto whatever remaining pool $$ we have to potentially bring in additional guys throughout the year. Was hoping we might have enough left over to make a trade with either LA or SD (sounds like they are considering this too now), and maybe we could get them in desperation mode here where we could actually get a good prospect in return for say $1 million in IFA $.
  22. I see Dodgers might be interested in trading for extra IFA bonus pool money. We’ve got to have a decent amount left from our $7.5M pool, correct?
  23. Brandon Lowe just makes way too much sense for this team. It almost frustrates me that a deal hasn't happened yet to get him into a Brewers uniform! Get it done Arnold. Speaking of "getting it done:" what do we think it'd take to get Lowe from the Rays? Are we thinking something like Black & Knoth (or maybe Henderson)? Is that too much? Too little?
  24. Yeah, I actually like Hogg a lot. At least a find him enjoyable and knowledgeable to listen to on the MJS pod with JR Radcliffe.
  25. With the Devin trade today, and the acquisition of Cortes and Durbin - it feels like our only major need now is to find some more pop for this lineup. Curious for thoughts on how we might get that - and where? Do we find someone to platoon at 2B with Durbin (maybe a Brandon Lowe?) or is there a power bat that we could potentially get on the FA market with some of the $$ we got back in this deal today? Maybe someone that could platoon a bit between DH and 1B or 2B?
