  1. High price tags is such a cliche. Every single year the prices are supposedly high, when in reality that is the going market rate for good talent. I don't think there is a defined timeline for when we're looking to deal, just waiting for the right FAIR opportunity to present itself.
  2. I'm pretty sure I have read he chose to come off the bench for scoring, rather than he was placed there.
  3. I want DiVincenzo.
  4. From another view (I tend to be more bullish)...the market has been digesting a massive run from election night 2016 until late 2017/early 2018 as the economy catches up so to speak. http://i67.tinypic.com/2dumk90.png Wages are increasing, employment is increasing, and many of these jobs are better paying (and full time vs the part time job market of the prior many years due to the healthcare bill incentivizing employers to do it). If your GF wants to own some stocks I would start out looking at simple things like AT&T (T) and Apple that are paying a fat dividend and see how it goes from there before venturing off into riskier things. I own the ETF SCHD (US big cap dividend) and AT&T in my IRA at the moment. I would definitely keep at least part of it with a professional, but do whatever you feel most comfortable with.
  5. Rhonda ain't no joke no more. Whew
  6. Sell high on Hiura all the way to the bank.
  7. It doesn't take Einstein to see Albers was useless after the first run was in. But instead of stopping the bleeding and maybe having a shot at tying it up/winning we just decide it's better to throw the game away. Frustrating.
  8. Everyone in the Brewers organization is on the table except Josh Hader for me. As many as they want for Thor, he is a face of a franchise that would not only give us a top 5 pitcher in baseball but increase interest in the team nationwide ala Giannis/Bucks...which opens the possibilities of higher payrolls and revenues. It's a risk worth taking. Arcia, Hiura, Peralta, Burnes, and whatever else they want. None of them have a ceiling of Syndergaard. Only thing that gives me hesitation on deGrom is he's almost 30.
  9. Because the man hit a grand slam yesterday and folks are still swooning over their 66th 1B option on roster.
  10. Philosophy? I think it's more that our starters can't make it deep into games, not that we don't want them to. Who wouldn't want a guy cruising through 7 innings per start, 1 inning of Hader, 1 Knebel? If you don’t think it’s part of their new philosophy, you haven’t been watching much. There have been plenty of opportunities to have our starter go farther in games and we don’t do it. Like Counsell has even said, they go into the game with an idea of how many outs they want to get out of a pitcher. We have seen our games get through 6ip and be at 80 pitches and still come out. For some reason i'm having trouble envisioning a Corey Kluber, Luis Severino, Aaron Nola, Michael Wacha, etc type of pitcher being pulled at/before 80 pitches for us. In my opinion they're molding to what we have, not molding the pitching. Brent Suter cannot go more than 5 innings, Chacin is the 6ish type. Guerra again, 5-6ish innings. Anderson is the only guy we have that can realistically go deep when he's on. Nelson can (and will) go deep when healthy. If they are doing it how you say they are then Shields is going to be RIGHT in their wheelhouse and a likely trade target.

  12. Its so boring to hate on Archer. Dude is more talented than any pitcher on the Brewers roster and cheap control.
  13. When you have a League when most of the really good players want to either play in a major market like NYC, LA, Miami, etc or they all want to play on the same team as each other competitiveness kind of goes by the wayside. Add in the fact that the draft is becoming more like the MLB draft where even top five picks take years to develop, which makes it hard for the really bad teams to improve quickly. I’ll watch the Bucks from time to time but in general I could not care less about the NBA. If Houston literally doesn't miss 27 threes in a row Golden State is at home booking tee times. TWENTY SEVEN. Can a blind man miss 27 in a row? I bet you could make more than 1 if you were in the game. Who plays in NY again? The Knicks haven't been relevant in at least 5 years. The Lakers haven't been relevant in at least that long. Miami is not relevant now that the big 3 are retired/injured/moved on. Chicago has been meh or bad for a decade. Big markets aren't the draw that they're made out to be. Golden State was the redheaded stepchild of the west coast until they hit on a couple draft picks called Curry, Klay, and Draymond who won a title without freeloadin' Kevin. Cleveland is the armpit of America. I generally agree with your premises, but there are definitely holes. Hockey has become #1 for me during this time of year because of the competitiveness and other extraneous factors, but there has been some great basketball played in this playoffs IMO. Just sucks that the Bucks are a player short of really making noise ala Boston. By the way, we took them to 7 and weren't far from winning. On a cold February night I couldn't care less about the Kings vs the Clippers, but come May I tune in to watch. It's not all that much different than MLB aside from the Brewers and tiny bit Twins, or NHL aside from the Wild and Blackhawks for me. Oh, and that guy Lebron James. He's pretty good at basketball and can do it with or without friends.
  14. Whatever happens, it's getting pretty obvious that Zach Davies doesn't belong as anything more than a #5 starter. We need to acquire depth if we aren't buying an ace.
  15. The GOAT earned his spot, and as for the other squad it's not their fault Houston chokes.
  16. You cannot ever ever consider trading a minor league strikeout prone OF for a proven VERY good major league OF with 4+ years control. Makes no sense. Time to cash in on Hiura now too before he blows out his body playing defense.
  17. I don't think Hiura is a huge give. He has the potential to be good, but there's big risk there for us....if he can't play passable 2B due to injury issues his value is shot to half the league. This would be a great time to try and sell high. Maybe not Archer, but another controllable arm like his teammate Snell (+more on our side) and i'd be down.
  18. Davies is overrated bigly. Guerra is 33 years old, and Jimmy could well not be in good shape until next summer for all we know. Let's not act like we have a wealth of goods at the SP position here. They're ok when they're on, but not world beaters. There's several guys we could go after that aren't Kershaw types but might have upside in them. Blake Snell (or Archer I guess), Sean Manaea (or Trevor Cahill on the cheaper side for depth), Stroman/Happ etc.
  19. I don't think Perez is enough of an upgrade personally....rather just sit and wait for Pina to revert back to his career norms than take on an expensive 31 (end of contract) year old catcher with heavy useage. It'll be Lucroy all over again.
  20. We've been linked to him so many times over the years that this makes too much sense. Wonder if there's any kind of deal we could do to get Hamels and Profar together....
  21. I'd rather package that pick with one/more of Snell, Dellavadova, or Henson and clear salary cap if there's a way to do it. And then don't sign overpaid middlers again like a bunch of morons. Kenneth Faried is an expiring next year and is a decent match for all three of their salaries...Denver doghoused him and I think he might be a good A+ effort type of guy that we need more of. Skal Labissiere might be another option, the Kings have been known to make dumb decisions. Maybe could give them the 1st and Henson for Skal and Koufos or something. I'm sure there's more appealing options out there, but there isn't a golden goose sitting out there for us...we might have to take a risk of eating the paper bad end of a deal to see if we can find a better fit (than drafting another DJ Wilson scrub in the high teens).
