Lyles and Houser have been good. Our bullpen has stabilized. But 3/5 of our starters have been a mess. Our pitching in August was bad. Not sure what I'm supposed to be seeing.
I’m kinda surprised that you still think the crew might not have enough pitching to get a good run going. Now the offense is another matter. What? We are 13th in pitching in the NL. We've hit a nice little run here the past 4 games and it's been great, but we've been terrible all year. Including in August. We're 10th in offense, I believe. So not much better.
I'm beyond done with Davies at this point. He's been horrendous since the all star break and was horrendous last year. I suppose you could do worse for a #5 but I'd really like to see an upgrade someone in the middle of the rotation and slide davies out of it.
Need two out of three. Took a nice step forward the last four games. Can't keep giving those games back right away if we really want to contend for a wild card (or the division). I do think we will get 2/3. Pitching matchups are in our favor for once and the Cards are really due to lose a game or two.
6-3 over our last 9 against teams with a combined +147 run differential. Good stretch. Wish we could have Monday's game back but overall the team is playing a lot better. Good chance to get 2/3 this weekend!
Shaw will be just fine replacing Moose. Grandal has been a great offensive addition but I am questioning his part in how lousy our staff has become. Chase and Davies have both been better this year. Chacin far worse. Woodruff took a step although it started at the end of last year. Gonzalez has been fine. The bullpen obviously collapsed but I think it is clearly a lack of talent.
As good as their record? Maybe not. Beneficiaries of a weak division? Probably. But the Twins lead the MLB in run differential by 20+ runs. They are legit.
Sure hope not as I'll be forwarding my tickets to a friend for game 7. I've attended 40 games this year and this will be my first time forwarding. If my account gets locked I'll be pretty upset.
I didn't agree with CC's decision last night. I definitely agree with it today. You don't put the go-ahead run on base voluntarily with 1 out and the top of the order due up. With 2 outs, yeah you walk him. I see the thinking both ways. But in my opinion you take your chances getting Barnes out and then you have an immediate way out of the inning.
