  1. This would completely change the economics of the game because while the Grienke's and Kershaws will make the coin, the Garza's, Wolfs, and Lohse's, of the world would not. I think there is legitimate merit to the idea but the MLB players union would lose their mind fighting this.
  2. We didnt get anything that matters and we didnt give up anything that matters.
  3. Sardinas was one of those guys who looked a lot better when he was a prospect and less so when he made it to the majors. If he is the main piece to Sea, I wouldn't hold my breath on a significant return.
  4. Sardinas one piece to Sea per Rosenthal
  5. Interesting you say that. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/11/brewers-mariners-trade.html The Mariners and Brewers are nearing the completion of a trade, tweets Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports. Passan notes that it remains unclear who is in the proposed swap, but Major Leaguers will change hands. On a perhaps related note, FOX’s Ken Rosenthal recently tweeted that there’s “lots of activity” on Adam Lind. Edit: Sardinas is one piece to Seattle
  6. Fair enough. Lets so what else he does. He does seem to be the kind of GM that will make a lot of moves so there is a lot more to come.
  7. I would not expect Arcia to play MLB until 2017 Interesting. I had not thought that at all. Im not sure what he has to prove at CS? Is there something he needs to work on?
  8. I would argue irrationally early to make any concrete judgments involving performance. I mean, he got rid of Reid Nichols... that alone might make a successful offseason. Oh Im not judging the guy based off two trades. Im just stating what I have seen so far which is just Ehh. We got rid of our closer and a useful pitching prospect for two fringy guys at positions that aren't of need assuming your are bullish on Arcia being a 150 game top of the order type. Again its early and I am not jumping one way or the other. Im a Brewer fan so clearly Im patient.
  9. Arcia is going to be a stud but Villar looks like Tulowitzki next to Rivera and Sardinas. Not a bad buy low guy that is still very young. Maybe he flames out and is just a utility guy, maybe he carves out a 3B, SS (short term), or 2B role. A switch-hitting guy with positional flexibility could be useful in a trade down the road as well. I agree the back ups on the roster now are just guys but how many ABs do we expect available at SS that Arcia wont cover? If Villar is a legit starting 3B guy than maybe its a better trade than I assume. I dont think is all that buy low, but maybe im too high on Sneed. He was pretty much our best pitcher at each level in terms of performance, thought admittedly not in terms of prospect status. He certainly projects as a MLB caliber bullpen type. Its not a trade we will regret, but its not anything Im buying play off tix for either.
  10. Its way early, but the new guy at GM is really underwhelming so far.......
  11. What an odd trade. With Arcia coming up who projects as Blue Chip, and Segura still here (for the moment) plus Sardinas, etc, I cant imagine trading a legit arm for another meh SS in reserve? I am assuming more trades are to come but Sneed isn't a guy I look to trade away unless he is part of bigger package.
  12. Its a salary shed for what I assume will be 3 players. Yuni Jr, the PTBNL, and the Rule 5 guy with the open 40 man spot. Not sexy but you don't need a close for this team and KRod hasnt had much value since Doug starting this yo yo ride with him.
  13. Scooter is not the kind of talent you worry about him being here or not. He is just a guy. I wouldnt mind if he was our starting 2B for 2016, but if he can be moved to make a Luc trade a bigger package, Im all for it, thought I havent done the research of who needs a LH hitting 2B and a catcher.
  14. Luc should bring back a pretty sweet return. You can see the lack of quality catchers out there. Yes it isnt selling at his peak but Gomez showed teams are aware of their talent level regardless of snap shot performance. Braun should be traded if at all possible, but I doubt that will happen. If they did, the Brewers would be in spectacular shape in contract flexibility going forward. I know Im in the minority here, but I see no scenario where we get much of anything out of the last 2-3 years of that contract, and thats when guys we will hope to be extending will become expensive. Lind and KRod are the next obvious ones. I think Lind would be a nice trade chip but KRod never generates much interest.
  15. Coors and roids inflation not withstanding, Braun just doesn't have the value of Tulo due to position/defense. If we assume Braun is forever an .850 guy in Miller Park and sliding downhill going forward, that's like acquiring a Shin-Soo Choo, a CarGo out of Coors, maybe even a Lind-type player. A good hitter at a corner position (not 3B) that plays OK defense. Tulowitzki, probably en equal hitter to this list when he's not in Coors plays a really good SS. His trade value is much, much higher. I'm not even sure we'd get the premium prospect. Trust me, you don't have to sell me on Braun not being all that valuable. I guess its just wishful thinking we can get out from his contract because I think he has maybe two years of 850 left in him before he falls apart for the remainder of the extension.
  16. Braun to LA makes a lot of sense. Id look at the Tulo package of a premium prospect back if we take on a bad contract in the trade. I do think a Luc/Braun trade to them will land us virtually anyone(s) not named Urias back though. However, I would think they would think long and hard about a straight up trade of both of those guys for Urias in return though given how close they are to getting over the hump.
  17. The trade was fine though it is a little disturbing both Marco and Yo performed so much better with their new teams.
  18. I know you are just throwing out an example, but even in a season of getting the ducks in a row (don't want to call it a lost season), playing Segura at 3B for more than an emergency start or two would make me ill. With a young pitching staff and some potential pop with a full season of Arcia, Santanta and hopefully Phillips, we can can afford to go with a plus defender at 3B. I don't know if Segura is the right guy, I am just thinking I want a glove there and am willing to sacrifice some OPS to help out the kids on the mound.
  19. Id prefer a good glove AAAA guy there then invest heavily in a guy since we aren't an elite 3B away from contending. Its not exciting but we can live with say a Segura there until Lara/Gatewood show up.
  20. When I see a team that has a screaming need for a position and they let a viable player who plays that position go, my thought goes to his personality and make up. Those are key issues and ones we as fans are rarely informed about.
  21. To think there were Brewer fans who wanted us to acquire Papplebon.
  22. I'm sure he had no issues cashing their checks during the season.
  23. Right before the playoffs? Call me jaded, but this is text book excuse stuff for a bigger story that will probably come out.
  24. There is no scenario where the Brewers should extend Lucroy. They should trade him while he is still young and has significant value. Lind will probably stay because of the incomprehensible lack of 1b in the game today and the Brewers not having much in the farm to realistically say can be be the guy. Moving Braun to 1B makes the most sense given his very expensive glass body and Davis being in LF. But I dont see where the Brewers are considering this? Lind becomes a nice trade piece if Braun is moved to 1B. There doesn't seem to be much a market for KRod so he should stay given a relatively low cost. Arcia should be the SS as soon as the clock can start on him and Segura or Scooter can be traded. I see the pitching being what it is depending on the Lucroy trade. I have no interest in the FA market at this point until we see what we have with the young guys and the team is ready to compete.
