  1. He could be moved pretty easily at this point.
  2. I love when I'm proven wrong so emphatically.
  3. Braun turned himself into a pretty good LF and to be fair, we screwed with him by playing him in RF. Part because of Khrush's limitations, part because they could do with him what they wanted after the PED thing. If they really want to ride out the extension for whatever reason, they need to move him back to LF, since taking out Davis' bat doesnt matter at this point.
  4. Scotty > Peterson. Why? Three words: Lisa Dergan Podsednik
  5. I think you're right. The LA team that might be the better match is the Angels. They need the offense, and Kubitza/Newcomb is a nice package. Im not sure what contract we would have to take back though, since they already dumped their main head ache.
  6. Everything so far suggests Santana will play a big role for the Brewers in 2016.
  7. Braun and Luc wont be with us in 2016. The Brewers have collected way too many outfielders for the Braun move to not happen, and Luc is pretty self explanatory. As i have mentioned before, the Tulo template will find a deal for Braun. Luc, despite a down year will net a major return. As of now, I see 2016: C- Acquired via trade 1B- Lind - they didn't trade him when quite clearly they could have landed Kaminsky for him???? 2B- Gennett 3B- Dominguez or Acquired via trade, Segura once Arcia is up. SS- Segura - Arcia after service clock closes the Super Two. LF- Davis CF- Reed - Phillips at some point starts and doesn't leave CF RF- Santana That is obviously not a great line up, but the farm went from low 20's to top 10/top 5 in a year.
  8. He is young, cheap, and not that far removed from being an impact bat. Id prefer we figure out how to get him back to being productive. We wouldnt get much in return now.
  9. This trade is shaping up to be something special. Give us another like that with Luc and we will be on the gold.
  10. Id take Puig but Id flip him later that day for prospects/3 way trade. He is a great talent but everything I have read suggests he is not a rebuild cornerstone player.
  11. How many solid catchers one year removed from a year like his will be available?
  12. He will be traded in the offseason. Its all but done now. The good news is the Brewers will have a bidding war on their hands.
  13. Puig isnt the guy for us. Talented yes, but the head aches are not what a young rebuilding team wants. The Tulo template is the way to go. Bad contact for half plus elite prospect.
  14. limited no-trade clause 2014-15 (may block deals to 6 clubs) limited no-trade protection 2016 - 2020 allowing Braun to block deals to all clubs except LA Angels, LA Dodgers, Miami, Tampa Bay and Washington Good job. That's interesting. Sounds like he wouldn't mind being an LA guy again.
  15. Agreed. They have the prospects and the bad contracts to find a Tulo package in there somewhere. Win-Win
  16. Braun wouldn't have signed the extension with us had he known we would go Astros/Cubs rebuilding. The Brewers wouldnt have offered the extension had they had all the information they have now. The Tulo model is template we can use for an August trade; take back about half the obligation in a contract and receive one or two high end prospects. With all the OF prospects we have now, the plan is pretty clear that we will be moving on from Braun in the near future. They almost have to trade him in August so the no trade clause doesn't execute. That will knock down the package in return of course because teams arent stupid. Most teams arent stupid that is.
  17. Until someone from the farm emerges as a clear starter for us, I see no reason we dont just start Garza until we get an offer of some sort or he works it out. He has been bad, but not dumpster fire bad and this team isn't a good Garza away from 90 wins this year, or sadly next year, anyhow. All that being said, we did move Broxton, and starters are getting hurt here and there, so Id think his name and relatively modest contract should be able to be traded for something in August.
  18. A ball athlete with upside seems like a market based return.
  19. It should be Cravy/Wagner/Davies and Im leaning toward Davies here. Blazek is doing great in his current role
  20. The trade deadline alone was the equivalent of having an extra great draft.
  21. One of the outfielders in the minors should be moving to first. As for Braun, he cant be happy here now that we are in full tank mode (like Luc). Both should be traded for their sake and ours. Braun wouldnt have signed the extension had he known the team would rebuild, just like the Brewers would have never offered the extension had they known the whole truth. The Tulo trade sets the trade model, take back a contract for about half, and receive some stud prospects.
  22. Braun and Luc would have to candidates to move. While I love the rebuild we are doing, Id hate to be those guys now.
  23. Jon Heyman ‏@JonHeymanCBS 6m6 minutes ago New York, USA teams are on adam lind but brewers not that motivated to move. has option for next year.
  24. The plan now is to acquire as many under 22 year old major league projectable prospects. I dont remember the Brewers ever focusing this hard on building a powerful and deep minor league system before. Maybe the mid 80's? I dont see a major league roster coming from this right now that makes a ton of sense, which is fine, because when you have a strong minor league system, you can always go out and get the positions you need from your depth. Throw in a top 5 draft pick this year and next, and you will go from a bottom system to a top tier system, with Lucroy and Lind moves to come.
  25. Not a bad move. Wish we got more but I guess we can always say that. So far, of the 7 guys we picked up it does look like 6 have legitimate chances of playing at the major league level (dont think we can project the Canadian guy just yet), with Phillips having serious All Star potential. Davies profiles as a ground ball 4/5 guy without a whole lot of concern that he will reach that projection.
