  1. That's true. He hasn't been the mega star and he is going to be the guy who is always hurt. Wheeler and Flores are just guys though. They are certainly MLB capable but Wheeler comes with the TJ and the walks, Flores with that Milwaukee hacking away mentality. Hard to get excited here.
  2. Mench was 28 years old. Flores is 23. Not even close. It's that hybrid not quite rebuilding trade of an elite player for MLB caliber for sure, but lesser players nonetheless. Wheeler could be a 2 but likely a 3/4 and we have plenty of those. Flores looks replacement level at 3B.
  3. Well presumably Lind brings back Piscotti and Parra brings back a big arm like a Zobrist package.
  4. On paper, it's not a horrible trade. But I look at the current roster starting in 2016 and I'm very underwhelmed. This is a dime for two nickles kind of move.
  5. I've become a huge Parra fan this year but a Khrush, Parra, Braun OF would be beyond bad defensively. 3 LF.
  6. They are showing him hit. He has fouled off two straight ball 4s before weakly grounding out.
  7. That's a trade you make if you lose him at the end of the year, not with an extra year of control. Flores is the Kevin Mench of infielders.
  8. Sheesh. I don't get it at all. We trade our number one trade chip for two meh guys. You don't trade assets for guys like Flores. They are literally replacement level players.
  9. He would be a minor piece in a deal. He had a decent batting line last year and 2013-2014 he had a combined 7 dWAR. It isn't like he would be the center piece. I sure hope so. His BB/K ratio looks so, well, Milwaukee that I'd want to scream. I'd hope the center piece is better than Wheeler.
  10. If you can pick up a 72 OPS+ guy like Lagares, that's a move you need to make if you want to improve.
  11. Wheeler and Lagares? Yuck.
  12. If Im trading Lind and Gomez, I had better have a new top 5 prospect list with the only hold over being named Arcia.
  13. Im assuming they bought the pick by picking up Morse's contract, who they dont need.
  14. Gomez and Luc should be traded to the highest bidder. Both of their skill sets are age/style of play dependent. I want no part of their next contract. Parra's is not. This is not to say I wouldnt trade Parra - Any team should look to increase their portfolio of assets by shrewd moves - but anything less than the Zobrist package is not something the Brewers should consider.
  15. Zobrist is a bigger name and can play 2B, but Parra is playing much better.
  16. I love trades for prospects as much as anyone. I have been as tough on the joke of a farm system as anyone here. My point is that he isnt a Victorino/DeJesus type of meh trade fodder. Unless we can get a legitimate prospect package back, I would just as soon spend the efforts on an extension. This is not to say this team is ready to compete. They arent. But 28 year old lead off hitters who are 880 guys dont come around everyday. Maybe Im getting to used to starting the game in Molitor fashion.
  17. If we really like him that much, we can always attempt to resign him. There wouldn't be a QO offer on him at that point. We did it with K-Rod a couple years back. He'd probably only return if we could guarantee him a starting spot, which would really only happen if we give up on Davis or move Gomez and want Parra in CF. Either way, now is the time to cash in on his all-time high value with a trade. As long as cash in means CASH IN then Im fine, but I would still make him my #1 FA target.
  18. I think that placement in the order can help/hurt guys, but I don't think batting leadoff is the reason for his monster year. I think the "oh, he's really turned it around after moving to the leadoff spot" gets overblown by announcers a lot. Sometimes hitting in front of a certain player gets you better pitches, but it's not some wacky mental change that makes you an All Star like some announcers seem to claim. I think he'll be a .750-.775 guy that platoons (which I would love to have, but not for the money) and I'd rather just get what I can for him right now. Can always sign him back after the season. Oh Id trade anyone for the right price. But Parra is now moving from the nice trade piece to a guy that I would just as soon extend rather than dump for anything less than a very significant package. If he was 34 instead of 28 Id be more concerned with his bump in production as being flukey. I am becoming to become used to starting the game off with a guy standing on 2b. He might be our best lead off hitter since the Ignitor. If they can pull of a very rare trade and sign, id be fine with that, but he would be a FA Id prioritize.
