  1. I'd want more than Singleton for Parra, though I agree his upside and contract is the type of player we should be targeting.
  2. He is a top 8 and plays a premium position with a lot of cheap control. I'd want a minimum of 3 top 50's with one being a top 10. I can't imagine anyone giving the Brewer a compelling enough package.
  3. Agreed. For those 3 guys? 3 legit middle of the order bats? This is the minimum I'd want.
  4. I'd take him but NOT as the center of a deal of this size. I know it's not great to compare but when I see Jungmann I'm wondering if pedigree isn't as important as minor league performance. If such a deal were to be made, id expect anyone not named Correa from their top 7-8 prospects.
  5. This is a fascinating story. Jungmann was so underwhelming his entire time with in the minors. He was OK, and was clearly a major league starter, but nothing screamed 1 or 2. How do we evaluate pitchers going forward?
  6. I don't think it is anymore likely than it was when they flopped mid April. Has been a steadily 10% since than I would say. Carlos Gomez on the other hand looks likely to be trade before July 31st. From everything I have seen the speculation is that Gomez is the best player they end up trading. I have no idea of the percentage either. I am thinking the Brewers understand completely that giving a long term 9 digit extension to a catcher is bad business. Throw in Luc's candid comments recently, and I would think the Brewers would move him with the right offer. Not a fire sale of course, but a great offer, yes.
  7. Segura is a 25 year old SS who at worst is a cheap starter and at best has "upside". I don't really look at OPS when I'm considering a SS anyhow. Factor in position, years of control, and cost, and he has significant value. He won't get a top 10 of course, but why anyone would trade a starting SS who doesn't cost much for less than a top 50 is beyond me. I wouldn't trade him unless the Mets are begging.
  8. 2016 is barely on my radar for being competitive, let alone a specific postion. Who really cares who our CF is if we can land 3 top 100's for Parra and Gomez?
  9. Rotoworld says the Mets are looking at ARam and Jean. ARam should have a lot more value than we'd think. He is hot the last month and plays a position of huge need without a contract obligation past the season. He should bring a B prospect. I wouldnt trade Segura unless I was overwhelmed. SS are tough to find and he is a decent one.
  10. Isnt this is pretty good Aoki for Will Smith type of comp that we should be looking at from KC?
  11. Miller was elite, no doubt. But it is still about supply and demand. Cotts has been a shut down lefty the last month and there arent too many like that on the market. Id expect a very good return, though not quite the Miller level.
  12. Okert is not too much for Parra. Not at all. Id be concerned if that is all we got back for him. Parra has to be one of the top 3-5 trade chips right now of those that are clearly on the move.
  13. The Red Sox got a pretty good pitcher in Eduardo Rodriguez last year from the Orioles for Andrew Miller. Rodriguez was the Orioles #3 prospect. Cotts hasn't been as lights out as Miller was and his salary is a little more. I'm actually surprised the O's gave up that much for Miller. I would be happy with just about any prospect for Cotts, let alone a top 10. This sounds about right. I'd expect a top 3-6 prospect from a team for Cotts. I think Nicky D was the O's #5 at the time of the KRod trade? Last 28 days, Cotts is a 581 OPS, last 14 345 OPS. Good signing by Melvin.
  14. Assuming Lucroy gets traded, and it seems more and more likely, it will be for a top 10 prospect ++
  15. Thats a great point. He clearly reads and sees what a bargain he is. No players wants to be thought of as a bargain. He is a heck of an asset now, time to move him for a serious package.
  16. Sounds like a man who is VERY aware of the trade rumors and wants out. Right or not, you NEVER throw two of your team mates under the bus ever. Especially pitchers who throw to him. Time to explore block buster trades.
  17. I am too lazy to look it up but what are comp trades for a lights out lefty reliever to a play off team? Id think its pretty decent.
  18. Cant believe I didn't add Cotts and Lind to the list. If either is on the roster on August 1, I will be shocked. Both are excellent trade chips and neither figures into a 2017 roster plans.
  19. 1. Parra: No brainer. He is a valued asset right now and is adding by batting lead off. He should bring a very nice prospect back. Not top 50 but certainly top 100. 2. ARam: He is a notorious slow starter and is hitting 902 OPS the last 28 days. He plays a difficult to fill position. Should bring back a good return despite his retirement. 3. Lohse/Garza: No chance to bring back anything but maybe some salary relief. Might was well keep Garza and see if the next pitching coach can figure him out. Lohse just appears to be done. 4. Braun: My favorite trade chip. His extension kicks in and he is worth more to another team than he is to us. Change of scenery would be great for him and we don't need to watch the last 3 years of his extension. In case you think otherwise, remember Soriano. I still think he could bring a great package back since he is still a big name and is on pace for a 30 HR year. He is on a hot streak and still healthy. Time to move him. 5. Gomez: Not performing at super star level, but should be a good trade chip. His style of play make him injury prone. I would just assume trade him after a hot streak and move on. I want no part of his next contract. Easily will bring back a top 50. 6. KRod: Still a very good closer. He hasnt been in high demand in years when he is a FA, so I wouldn't expect a big time return, but I can still see a late 100 prospect based simply we only need one desperate team. 7. Lucroy: The best for last. Could bring back literally ANY prospect back if the Brewers have the guts to trade him. He wont be a catcher when the Brewers are a 95 win team again. Again, do you want to see him with a 9 digit extension when he isn't at catcher?
  20. Agreed. This team, for better or worse, was built for a "one more try" in 2015. Silly in hindsight, but if I was in Mark A's shoes, I cant say the hope of another big gate wouldnt be compelling, and probably blinding. This team was NOT built for 2016. I don't think there WAS a plan for 2016 once they made the call to give it a shot this year. 2016 is a washout with or without Parra, so he needs to be traded ASAP to max the value of the asset.
  21. I guess we disagree about the current state of the franchise with the emphasis on current. It's apparently not nearly as bad as it looked back in May. 2015 was sabotaged by a terrible start, lack of hitting and poor pitching by the veteran well paid starters, and by injuries, but the core of the team is fine. A very good case could be made that this team is an ace away from being a top contender. Not this year certainly but in 2016, even if they do decide to deal Gomez, provided they get something back that's useful in 2016 as part of the deal. I'm not opposed per se in dealing Parra, but his price has gone up and if all teams are offering is one B level prospect, I'd at least be thinking twice rather than blindly sticking with the mantra that he must be dealt regardless of return. Parra is a FA and the more he hits, the higher his value in the FA market. Does that get to the point where you'd consider risking a QO on him in the offseason in hopes of landing a draft pick that might have more value than what he'd get you in a trade? Worst case scenario, you overpay him for 2016 and get that B level prospect next year in a deal. The core of the team is not fine. The 8 game winning streak must have gone to some fans heads but not mine. This is still a very bad baseball team from top to bottom. This is not a 90 to 95 win team in 2016 if they keep this roster the same and lets say they somehow add an ace without giving up anything. Parra has played well enough to generate a good return, certainly more than we paid for him. Trading him is just good asset management.
  22. I doubt anyone is crowning him. His body of work in the minors was underwhelming. He looks like Tom Seaver now and no one expects that to continue. But he has nothing to prove at AAA, and especially in CS. Lets see what he has here and how he handles adjustments at the major league level.
  23. His value has never been higher, the Brewers need to trade him, not extend him.
  24. Jungmann is going nowhere. The guy has both pitched great and the Brewers need to see what they have in him. The guy was just decent in the minors so this is really something none of us were expecting. He is doing it game after game and its not like he has that "one" gimmick pitch or delivery that teams will figure out eventually. He is just pitching well game after game. He is just one more thing about that season that is both exciting and frustrating at the same time.
