  1. Cough China Cough Sports and politics don’t mesh well. I agree with others that they might as well cancel the season.
  2. He is very over rated but this isn’t the season to grade much. It simply is not a real season and to be fair any GM was building for 162 games.
  3. This is not a real season. I just don’t have it in me to get too bent out of shape with the team’s performance. A WS win won’t count for much but a lot of asterisks so why worry?
  4. I just wish they would focus on basketball. As to the product, it feels like a NIT game with no fans and no energy. Anyone else feel that?
  5. That’s what I’m thinking. They have a taxi squad for a reason. Just make if next man up and play ball.
  6. Are we comparing apples to orangutans when it comes to country vs country data?
  7. Election year hijinx. We can’t stop the transmission of a virus, even with a vaccine or mask. We knew people would get it once it reached our shores. We flattened the curve at a massive and still yet to be calculated total cost. Herd immunity seems to be the only rational solution to any virus. There is no ideal fix for this but putting so many people out of work isn’t viable.
  8. Yup. CYA legally alone will kill the season.
  9. Excellent take. Neither side is fighting to get on the field. They could have framed a 50 game season as a “every game matters” spin that would have sold well. It’s all about money, which I don’t mind to a point but unless the games start no one makes anything.
  10. 0.0003% died with COVID, not necessarily from COVID. I think we will be ok.
  11. What are you referring to when you say "insincere leniency on the protests but not the ability to earn a living." Going to church, birthday party, funerals, the beach, work, protesting your ability to open your business equals selfish and certain death to others. Massive Protests last two weeks equals necessary and safe. Good luck to any governor trying to sell a lockdown a second time.
  12. Looking at these stats ignores several key issues, sample size, increased testing, and the definition of what statistically is a COVID death. As baseball fans, we love stats but we also have 120 years of data and an unbiased reporting methodology. Either you hit a home run or you didn’t. With COVID we are in an unprecedented scenario both in the reaction and the real time posting of data. Something no other illness has ever had to this degree. Looking at the data in its current form feels almost like analyzing spring training numbers. Ultimately what we are seeing is that the virus is not a global end game. We aren’t shutting down again based on the current mortality numbers and the insincere leniency on the protests but not the ability to earn a living.
  13. It was the most memorable but I agree he should have just kept running. Not taking anything away as I jumped through the ceiling when he caught it. Cain and GoGo had the best catches IMHO
  14. Not much of a player. We drained some salary to add essentially non needle movers. Weird offseason.
  15. This board was almost burned to the ground with every time Sogard was in the lineup and here we are a year later paying him $4.5M? Um....what am I missing here? Do people really think he is a 2.5 WAR player?
  16. Take out 2017 as his outlier and he is pretty much a low 1’s guy for his career. Most stats on him don’t scream anything intriguing but maybe he is one of those launch angle guys we can develop?
  17. If they trade Hader, they might as well trade Yelich too.
  18. Apparently Seattle couldn’t wait to get rid of him according to the Athletic because of low hitting advance metrics and that he would slow down the development of their young pitching. Might explain the relatively low cost, though I don’t like trading picks when you have one of the worsts farms in the game.
  19. It’s probably going to be one of our top 5 guys but as mentioned that isn’t a blue chip caliber prospect. He’s a elite offensive catcher, at least by catcher standards and he is one of if not the worst defensive catchers. Overall he is an average player with what I’m reading is 3 years of control? That suggests a decent return.
  20. This is very good trade. Never got the Grisham love so selling at his high for a former top 20 prospect is very solid. I like Davies more than most but getting a young starter with a lot of control seems reasonable.
  21. When the brewers make the playoffs with a negative RD, what will be your excuse then. Counsell is a big reason why this team is outperforming it’s RD. I literally said exactly that. CC is why we are winning despite having a roster that gives up more than it scores. Yes blowouts skew the numbers but good teams blow other teams out more than they are on the short end over 162 games. We are good enough to stay close to allow CC to navigate wins with a bulk being high leverage decisions , but not good enough to win enough 7-3 type games.
  22. Run differential is important. The fact is we give up a lot of runs and don’t score as much. That’s not good no matter how you spin it. CC has really managed around a mess of a team to keep us in the thick of it. Going forward we will need to score more than we give up.
  23. I think the opposite is true, honestly. I think Counsell, like most managers, is an interchangable cog. I like Craig, I think he does what you can best hope for in a manager, which is to implement the philosophy of the organization strategically. But beyond that, I'd think he could be replaced without much of an effect on the results. Agree to disagree. Managers and coaches matter.
  24. I agree, he really ruined the Celtics. Lol. I swear I typed Stearns.
