  1. Third basemen shouldn’t be playing 2B and you need a real pitching coach if you have a young staff.
  2. They are likely going to need to fill one key role if not two. The best available FA happens to fill that role. The dots aren’t that tough to connect.
  3. We have all seen this movie before in Milwaukee regarding JJ and Knebel. It always starts out as precautionary but seemingly always ends badly. There’s a reason they are talking to Kimbrel. At least now we have Mark A who won’t let these possible injuries wreck the season.
  4. Mark A has come through for Milwaukee. Thank goodness we have him as an owner.
  5. Ray for Mad Bum is a huge steal for Milwaukee. As for Erceg isn’t he being considered moving to pitcher? He just hasn’t hit at all.
  6. Love this trade. Upside prospects for a guy who really can’t be a regular at the mlb level.
  7. Fangraphs takes into account player values but they seem to struggle with the massive impact of Counsel in the totality of our performance. I’ve never seen a baseball manager get more out of a roster than he does.
  8. Without Johnson the Brewers should have zero interest in Gray unless they can make it salary neutral. I wouldn’t give up anything of value for Gray and I wouldn’t pick up a nickel of his contract over what we dump to them. And yes, Johnson is the only reason we would bring in this guy at this point in his career and yes, DJ is elite and was his college coach. It is naive to think that wasn’t a huge factor in bringing in a project like Gray at the time.
  9. In 2018, Gamel would have had the third highest OBP on the Brewers (behind Yelich and Cain) Lol. Talk about cherry picking a stat. No power, no defense, no hitting. Other than that he is wonderful. He will take a walk and he has an option. Spectacular player. He is Ramon Flores.
  10. Gamel is just a horrible player. Not sure why anyone would want him here. I guess he has an option so there is that but if that’s the criteria then there are plenty of other better choices.
  11. No one would have given up Lutz for Claudio and that’s essentially what we just did. Small market teams can’t give away draft picks.
  12. No way in the world any team accepts the San Diego side. I’m not sure we get one comp pick for that package of nothing.
  13. Incredibly dumb trade. Giving up a high pick for a guy like this is at best a win now move and a poor one at that.
  14. We aren’t getting him for Jesus, Davies, Broxton, and any other spare parts. It’s going to take Hiura or Burnes +++
  15. I’d love to trade Ray while his year was reasonably good. Though his super low hit tool will make him very likely to fail at the MLB level. Let’s hope other teams ignore that. At best he is a worse version of Brinson so if you think Brinson is a bust you have to say Ray will be too. Ray, Peralta, Santana, and Anderson but I doubt that gets it done.
  16. Top prospect lists are for fans. GMs could care less. Ray is a young (24) 5-tool OF who was a very high pick and is finally living up to that potential. Value is high. Ray is not a 5 tool player. Below average hit tool and average defense tool.
  17. If they have the same announcers this won’t be anything I’ll be watching.
  18. Without DJ I can’t imagine the Brewers would have any interest in Gray.
  19. They did everything they could to trade Santana in 2018 and nothing he did will make that easier. No chance he is the centerpiece of a trade for a quality controllable arm and I like Santana a lot.
  20. I haven’t seen the protection of the first round pick but that figures to be in the 20’s which is a very small price to pay to open up that much cap room. Great deal for the Bucks. Now stop signing bad deals in first place!
  21. We don’t have enough to trade for Thor that would make any sense for us.
  22. We all knew he would get non tendered. We don’t have the payroll for $10M if he isn’t a middle of the order bat.
  23. When discussing a farm system, Depth is really over rated. No one cares if we develop 10 Nick Franklins. Farm systems need to develop starters and more to the point, All Stars, to be relevant.
  24. Doesn’t Cain have a no trade.
  25. The convenience in tendering Schoop is that it's only a one year commitment. If he is non-tendered, you are correct that there is no way anyone is going to pay him $10 million/year. But ... given his age and history, he'd probably be looking at a 3-4 year deal at at $21-28 million. The per year average is substantially less, but the overall commitment is much greater if he tanks. That said, I would 100% non-tender him and move on. Watching his at-bats in September and October were sickening. He just had absolutely no clue. Could he rebound? Yes, of course, but only to a degree. He's always going to be a streaky hitter, and while there may be stretches of the season where he's hot and carries the offense, there are also likely to be longer stretches where he just has no clue up there. This offense is frustrating enough to watch as it is without adding another hitter like that to the fray. Agreed. The Yankees could make a $10M bet, the Brewers can not because that number would for all reasonable purposes fill our budget. If they pay him, we are pretty much all in on Schoop becoming his 2017 version for our roster upgrades.
