  1. As they say, follow the money and there is simply too much money and too much competition to take there jobs to not go the extra mile. If you look at Canos numbers its very likely he has been on some sort of PEDs most of his career.
  2. This might be the best pitching debut I can ever remember. Steve Woodard of course but given Colorado and today’s game this might be better.
  3. This has always puzzled me about the Brewers. Small market teams can not draft guys like Kodi, Coulter, Covey,Grisham, Ray etc in the first round year after year and expect to be any good. The difference in cost between the best minor league system’s scouts and coaches and the worst is probably not a $2M difference in total salary which is what we waste on guys like Miley and Sogard every year.
  4. Lol probably.
  5. oh boy. gimme a sec to get some popcorn ready.. I know this is a hot topic but I just checked out his stats. Good God.
  6. Maybe we can see what the Reds would take for their 2B?
  7. Yes. The Brewers minor league system has been very bad, there’s no real way to sugar coat it. We desperately need to bring in better talent evaluators and instructors. And for the love of God get out of Colorado Springs.
  8. Braun and Shaw have 19 RBI's which would put them on pace for 83 each for a 162 games just based on the number of games we have played so far, not their individual games played. Thames had 13 RBI's in 22 games and if you put that over a full season, it would be about 96 RBI's. Santana, on the other hand, has 8 RBI's and would be about 35 total for an entire 162 game season. He needs to heat up and stay how to make up for his horrendous start. 83 RBIs is pathetic for a 3/4 hitter playing 162 games with two guys above them on base like Cain and Yelich.
  9. Cain and Yelich have done exactly what they were signed to do, get on base. For the most part they have done that. They aren’t elite offensive players and they weren’t brought here for that; they are professional hitters who can work a count, hit for average and draw walks. They are doing that. As someone already mentioned its the 3-5 in the lineup that hasn’t brought them home, and yes, RBIs matter. I think we all knew Pina, Villar, and Sogard would be terrible because, well they are terrible hitters. I admit I’m surprised by Arcia. He hit reasonably well last year so I didn’t see the auto out SS we have today.
  10. We are 7th in the NL in home runs. That’s the problem because for as long as I can remember we have never been a team that scores unless we hit HRs.
  11. Projecting to be a major leaguer doesn’t matter. Technically Nick Franklin is a major leaguer. Being deep doesn’t matter if all you are doing is filling out the bottom of your mlb roster. It’s projection to be a good to great major leaguer that matters. To that end, only Hiura is in that category at the moment and that’s only if he can become a 2B. I do like Burnes but he doesn’t project as that 60 grade type that makes a major league system strong. It can’t see how a trade that doesn’t include Burnes and Hiura
  12. As discussed in the rumors section, we don’t have the minor league trade capital to make a major trade as our system hasn’t performed like we had hoped and outside of Hiura we don’t have a single player that projects as a star. Plus teams aren’t likely to make a major trade in May. Our best bet is to ride this out and hope these guys get hot or at least not ice cold at some point.
  13. Well Burnes and Hiura plus filler would probably get him but you’re right, the Brewers minor league system looks pretty bad right now. I haven’t seen a recent ranking but we have to be in the 20’s at this point and that’s only because of Hiura, Burnes, and Woodruff. We have guys we don’t have a single star unless Hiura can project as a 2B at some point.
  14. As a poster stated in another thread, if Hiura can’t play 2B, they need to do two things; 1 Get him of the field and fixed be it rehab, surgery, stem cell, or witch doctor 2 Acquire a veteran 2B (and catcher) in the meantime because the Sogard Villar (and Bandy/Pena) experiment isn’t working and the offensive regression has been so massive we can no longer afford what is essentially a 4 pitcher caliber bottom of the order.
  15. Can't remember who said it, but they stated that Hiura has played 2B three times so far this year. All the other times he has been the DH. If his elbow is that sketchy, the Brewers need to go ahead and get it fixed and burn some playing time now instead of getting him to the majors then dealing with it. Wren and Orf? I'd feel a lot better with them on the bench, than Sogard and Perez! Sogard and Perez are both guys who play many positions and Stearns has seemed to value that over skill.
  16. I’d love to have him but such a trade would pretty much finish off our minor league system.
  17. If there is any possible way Hiura can play 2B they had better get him ready ASAP.
  18. To say the least. Shaw isn’t as good as last year and we are seeing that. Thames looked good though. Braun is Braun which is both good and bad. Pina and Villar simply aren’t good players. The players who shocked me are Santana and Arcia. We need those two to get better ASAP. For all the talk of the farm, we haven’t developed a meaningful offensive played in a long time. I had hoped those two would be it. Offense tends to heat up in May and June so hopefully that will happen.
  19. FA in general is a silly way to build a team.
