  1. He seems like such a likable guy but I swear Rock and Brian literally giggle when a major league hitter swings and misses at his “stuff”. I can’t believe the rotation Stearns put out there. Can we get Bill Travers and Jim Slaton to come out of retirement to help us?
  2. Now it’s a 9 man pen? Lol well I guess with our rotation that is what it’s coming down to.
  3. This is the issue. Having a bad game this early can be misleading. Drop off in velocity is not.
  4. To be a HoF you have to be considered one of the very best at your position for a sustainable period. Among many other considerations, statistical leadership and MVP awards, or at least top 5, really should be on the resume. Maybe corner OF dWAR will become the top criteria but if you look at Yelichs career to date you see a good player but by no means a great one. Braun and Fielder by 2011 would have been on a HoF trajectory. Yount started his career 3 years before Yelich and had two MVP awards at two important positions. Yelich isn't on that level, not even close. That doesn't mean that anyone thinks he is a bad player. But a 26 year old corner OF with no intriguing counting stats or power simply isn't in that conversation which is only reserved for the absolute elite. This being his 27 year aka the classic peak year I suppose he could enter the very fringe of the conversation but it would literally take a MVP caliber season.
  5. Yelich is considered a HoFer at this point? Good golly this really is a Brewer fan board!
  6. Was due $2.5M from the Rays so got cut. We signed him for under a million if I remember the tweet it was like $700K. Very good signing. I wonder why no one offered him more? He looks darn good.
  7. Anyone know what Jennings signed for? Quality pitcher to be let go like that.
  8. Yes. Villar was doing everything he could to salvage an out when Chacin decided to give up on the play.
  9. I keep telling my self it's early in the season yet but yeah, not off to a good start. There was nothing that said this was going to be a good starting rotation. All of us “arm chair” GMs knew this would be a playoff caliber 1-5 in the line up and a 70 win caliber starting rotation. We were sadly correct.
  10. That’s such a tough decision in real time. I can’t fault an OF going for an out.
  11. Well the good news is Chacin has lowered his era with this start.
  12. Give the bullpen credit. They have already had a huge workload due to our rotation but they have been A plus so far this season.
  13. Come on man. I get that you don’t like the starting rotation but do you really think this is his plan? How do you explain a Chacin, Suter, Woodruff 3-5 with Miley and Junior as our next wave? Seriously no baseball man would put that out there with our excellent (and not young) 1-5 lineup and suggest he did his job. Seriously though, it looks pretty obvious like he had a plan with Santana and he badly miscalculated. Then he did his spin with young pitchers not being blocked blah blah blah. You know the same GM drivel as our goal is to acquire young controllable talent. Like that wasn’t the goal of every GM in history. Lol. Back to the OP, the reason trades existed in the first place is to trade your surplus assets for someone else’s surplus assets to balance the rosters needs. Santana on our bench and Chacin/Suter/Woodruff/Miley on the hill is not a good use of assets. I have a feeling once the team proves 2017 wasn’t a fluke, we will make a big trade for a real SP.
  14. Stearns plan was to make the top of the line up better and make the starting rotation worse. He succeeded on both counts. And there is a difference between a talented player on the bench and a talented bench player.
  15. Young controllable talent.
  16. So far this team looks as advertised. A potentially great offense and good bullpen, and horrible starting pitching. The lineup is exciting though.
  17. I’d gladly trade them Thames. With his contract and the 1B market he has negative value.
  18. Former Brewer? Easy to recognize name? We are talking about Sal Bando.
  19. Lawrie is my poster boy for stepping away from the stats and finding out who the man really is before we throw trade ideas out there.
  20. Ah Jeez. I went to sleep when it got to 6-3. What a win! I still stand by my posts here. Braun should be our everyday 1B and Chacin was a really bad signing.
  21. Santana mashing even on that out. That guy is really good. Braun should be our everyday 1B with a Yelich Cain Santana OF.
