    Yea wouldn't be surprised by either and probably comes down to just who's the better player. I said it because Frelick, Mitchell, are lefties. And I think Perkins is better as lefty, but could be wrong. So essentially, of our 4 OFs 3 are lefty. And then the one on the DL hoping to come back is also lefty

    Not sure if a joke or aware, but he was traded to the Mets a few days ago. Just had MLB network on and their assumption is MKE will add a bat of some kind by end of day though. They threw around Canha due to the familiarity. I'd think a RHH OF would be the type

    Yea that seems way too much to give up in that deal. I assume Bal has a roster crunch coming too but still. Rogers has been pretty blah for a few years now, while in a pitchers park. With Bal trading away a ML OF last week I assumed it was designed to free up more starts for guys like Cowser, Stowers and Kjerstad. But yea I guess they still have so many guys there trading one more is expendable. Still, just feel like its been years of waiting for that good one year version to come back and it hasn't happened.

    Impressive debut with crazy good stuff. Obviously it's one game but you can see the tools and why they wanted to get ahold of him. Seems a very good chance this is gonna be yet another great BP find for them

    Can't say I really get this one. Junis has been looking good and I've been thinking lately of why not just keep stretching him out and you might have a 5 inning guy in a few weeks. I assumed that was somewhat of the plan with him when the signed him and paid him real money. Combine that with Montas being bad and I just don't get it. I'd have thought to stand pat rather than this, but of course keep shopping for the day remaining and see if there was a more reliable SP option to work out. But when it comes down to it and MKEs pitching history you just have to give them the benefit of the doubt and assume they think they have a tweak for Montas that will get him back to being good. At this point I basically expect it.

    I know a 40 man crunch is coming soon but I'd be surprised if he's one to be pushed out this offseason and just released. You're always gonna need depth OFs due to injuries and with likely seemingly relegated to almost all DH really soon. So why not the young one you control for 5 more years and know at the very least plays elite D. The following offseason if he still hasn't done anything other than being a subpar fill in though seems a kind of deadline for him though. But yea, of course if a trade comes up he seems available/expendable. Sure would be nice to start seeing some results out of Mitchell to have some trust in another of the prospects being legit, he certainly looks the part but results just haven't come yet. Just double checked and they have 7 OFs on the 40 man now. When you pretty much need 5 on the MLB roster at all times (since one will be DH in Yeli) it doesn't seem a bad use of spots to have two in AAA for injury and fill ins. Its not clear to me what Hicklen's contract status is for next year like with arby or where he's at so he might be gone leaving just Joey for depth.

    I'd think they have to be working on plans to replace it with something this offseason or at least during the upcoming renovations. I remember last year or possibly the year before I walked by that area for the first time in a while and I was surprised it was still there. Not that there was anything wrong with it, I thought it was perfectly good to go through once, but that it had been around long enough that almost everyone who wanted to see it already had. How about another golf simulator

    Yea all good, just saying if people didn't know their SPs have been massively hurt too.

    I know its mostly a wisecrack in regards to Burnes and all that so no big deal. While they do have him so they do have the better Ace, their starting pitching staff has been rampaged by injuries too. And for that stat of course relief matters and MKEs is better. Bal is also missing their closer all year like MKE. Kimbrell actually has done surprisingly well for them though, I expected him to be a waste of money. I still wouldn't want him out there with a playoff game on the line at this stage of his career, but good for him so far.

    I'd say we've gotten some darn good results from Perkins who started the year in that type of area. Gotta love to hear the Wrigley crowd get all worked up over a routine fly ball to end the game

    I ran through it quick but frankly I think the other plays were just a bit better so not much beef for me on Braun not being on it. He probably had to be in the next group right after the HM though. Only quick glance but one that stood out to me as too high would be DeGrom. I get he's a tough one to judge, but when it comes down to it he's barely played, Side note: for Brewers Greinke was on it

    I didn't mean them specifically. I meant similar guys who'd be available now. Basically, an elite clear clear upgrade like Ohtani isn't available so the replacement acquisition for Hoskins would be a blah guy in that same league avg area as those guys were for us last year. If you get lucky you get a hot streak at the right time but chances are they're the same area if not worse as what we're getting from Hoskins already, so why bother with it.

    Yea really there isn't another choice, plus he has been coming along lately so hopefully gets back to his old form by end of year. Sure, he's basically providing what we could've got for half or less of the money (another example of big FA spending not working well) but its not like they have or would be able to get anyone noticeably better. Then throw in roster issues as its not like they're gonna cut him and eat 30 mil. Basically, if we were paying him Tellez money you'd be like 'welp he's holding his own at league avg world'. Its just we're overpaying for it so it sticks out more. Its not like he's hitting at Winker last year levels where you just cannot play him anymore. Sure if you got lucky your mid level FA like a Canha/Santana last year could do better but its more likely people like that give the same league avg level he's been giving

    Unless you're wearing a Cardinals jersey, then its OK. Pujols was one of the more egregious guys while also being the best hitter in the league at the time

    And tbf, if there is ever a time to do it is very late in the game when you need 1 run. Which again just gets back to my original posts real point which is that decisions like this are so close and can go either way without anyone being an idiot for it. There is a logic all the way around, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't since none are 100%

    To me it just supports the general 'anti bunt' crowd. Bunting is talked about as if its just simple easy thing, its just not easy anymore due to how hard the pitchers throw and how much more movement there is on breaking pitches. It's just not a simple "just bent them over". No idea on why to leave Frelick in vs an elite lefty though when a HR ties the game.

    Hey I'm an anti bunt guy in general but have to say I get a chuckle when it doesn't work and its a bunch of people saying how dumb it is. When in other circumstances a bad hitter like Mona doesn't bunt and gets a DP or crap AB for an out and its a bunch of posts saying how dumb it is not to have a bad hitter bunt to mover everyone up in a 1 run game. I'm aware its likely not the same posters so not saying anyone is a hypocrite or whatever but still get a laugh when I see it since this has been a "gotta bunt more" board for years. Just generally shows how many of these decisions really are 50/50 things that can go either way He sure looked bad t it though and the team should know that.

    If there was a time to try for it it would've been today with the ASB coming for a bunch of extra rest days. But they've been pretty clear about being super cautious with him

    Yea that's probably step 1, let Gary be as slow as possible and maybe even some rehab time in AAA. See if another injury happens to him or the other Cs in that time. And down the line you can also have Haase get a minor 'injury' and take 3 weeks off too in order to get close to the expansion. If you're getting really close to the expansion and still have a good lead to give some wiggle room I'd be fine with an OF going down and getting some regular ABs for a few weeks before coming back up. They probably have too many OFs on the roster as is, especially since Chourio basically shouldn't be sitting now. If I remember correctly Haase can be an emergency OF too.

    Eovaldi really is a good idea I hadn't thought of before if/when TX sells. Looks like last year of contract is this year, vesting option he might hit if he stays health (but likely comes up short). Even if he hits it he probably opts out to get a 3 year deal. Being last year he shouldn't cost too much other than eating money, but due to lack of good SP on the market it might drive up the prospect cost more than I'd want to do. But definitely one they should look into

    could be and that's fine by me. OTOH, pretty tough hand to be dealt if you're him. Show up after travel and have to pitch a few hours later, 2nd start at Coors, and if given another its at LAD. Not like I expected much from him anyway but not too many scrapheap pickups would be able to do much with that. But hey, maybe that's what he'll give us, eating 3 bad situation starts so others don't and then go our separate ways. Also, it would be one more against WAS from him to get through the ASB. That was my guess when they got him, to try to get to ASB and hopefully others will be back by then to let him go. But yea, if he's bad tonight it could be enough is enough type thing, it would also allow for a fresh arm up for Wednesday on until needing to call a starter of some kind a few days later

    I guess there is probably something that could be added that LAD pitching is weaker this year (should be much better next), ATL is missing their best hitter and SP so the field isn't as daunting as expected. Still, I don't think there is a Sabathia type starting pitcher out there to even get so anything you do doesn't drastically change your odds. So I'd vote lower level competent SP acquisition who doesn't cost you anything but money and lottery tickets. Grabbing a better backup IF can't hurt too and shouldn't cost much, like an Ahmed Rosario type who won't kill you if due to injury he has to start a lot.

    Junis pitched yesterday. And you have 4 games in Coors to get through. Sure would be nice to get through the 5th with him
