    Yea I'd take a proven reliable hitting OF if that option were to come up. Playing the White Sox I thought of the Robert idea again, but he's been off to a horrible start to follow up his bad last year. But yes an IF is of way more importance. I assume Story contract makes it a no go for MKE and that Boston will just keep him rather than pay to give him a way. Seems he's been ok/fine to start the year. But to be an option for MKE, is his defense still good or has he fallen off with age? IF he's gone to trash on D then its for sure not an option

    Starting P for Houston today is apparently a guy who played college ball at UW-Milwaukee, never heard of before named AJ Burbaugh.

    Trading Pratt would be a no go for me. I don't really know of a reasonable trade target that would make sense to me since its not like we can trade for some superstar type anyway due to the finances. And in Pratt's case, our leftside of IF is so shaky that he might be needed as soon as next year. Trading top tier prospects has mostly gone away in recent years, and a team like MKE should be among the last ones that can afford to do it. Their route to contention is hitting on these guys and having them for 7 years, not trading them for 1-2 years of someone else (I know Mayo wouldn't apply in that case, speaking in general). But then when its not a proven star type, well then you might as well keep your own guy (and the other stuff with it) rather than pay for only a slight increase in chances of hitting on one ETA: hindsight, I wonder what else MKE would have needed to add in the Burnes trade to get Mayo or Westberg instead of Ortiz.

    Good find. I assume the Rule 5 thing will hold him back for us, combined with my guess is the team really likes Durbin and expects him to take the job (I'm not as sold). Otherwise yea that seems the type of low risk 'why not' type move, give him a few weeks of ABs and see what happens. If it doesn't work you're back where you started trying to get someone more reliable by the deadline. Really with Ortiz's struggles they have to be looking at all routes to not have two blackholes on the IF all year.

    Sure, but going bald that early isn't common and it is a side effect. And not all PED guys look like Canseco, heck almost none of the modern guys do because its not straight up steroids only that are banned now. But put it all together for Pujols though and I know which way I'm guessing. Unheralded unknown goes to Dominican or other country for winter ball. Comes back to spring training as a different player ripping the cover off the ball and is huge. Going bald at like age 23. Was around Mcguire. Larussa was his manager. Past trainer says he was a PED guy, etc. I know which side I'd have my money on. And to note, I'm not a PED basher, I think they've gone too far in banning too much and vilifying those who did. I just don't like the hypocrisies. Things like Pudge, Ortiz flying right into the Hall, Andy Petite getting steam to be in, etc. And when folks like Bonds are made out to be the devil and Pujols is not even though its very likely he was in on it too. All in all, its a summary of why the 'caught' ones should probably be given some slack, chances are, and proven by that anonymous test/list, that so many were doing it so the 'caught' ones aren't some evil outliers. It was just the game at the time. Back to the real topic and every start this kid has being analyzed.

    Yea I've been surprised he's been like this to start the year. I remember complementing him late last year that he stood their and took his walks when he was starting to get pitched around a bit. Then this year he comes in swinging at everything. Hopefully they get it honed in a bit soon

    Old mentioned name McMahon in Den has had a bad start to the year too. So of course, first gut is good thing they didn't do and it doesn't make you want to get him. OTOH, along with the team being terrible it might incentivize them to eat even more of his salary and present a buy low type situation

    Any new 3B ideas out there? I know its only been two weeks, but yea so far its pretty much been worst case scenario. And not sure on what the advance stats say, but eye test their D has also been lacking. With the Cubs finally looking legit I'd rather not wait for the deadline, hopefully they're turning over as many stones as possible already.

    Yup, I'm sure steroid free too!! Especially looking at that bald spot he had by like 23 years old. to this topic, for a team that has been so spot on with pitching lately it is really surprising they made this mistake. But hey no one is perfect

    You guys know more than me as far as trade values etc so I trust you're all generally correct in being too much to have given up. That said, He's only had like 10-15 total starts so I'd say the general vibe on trashing the young player is probably step too far too. Lots of guys struggle for a bit before figuring it out, 10-15 starts with a chunk for a trash organization isn't enough to write him off. The evaluation on stuff/mechanics and what our superior pitching coaching can do with him should outweigh those handful of starts. So just saying I like it as a buy low/early (though I get you're saying the price wasn't low enough, so I get that we probably should've passed) type move that hopefully hits with the potential of several years of controlled starting p if it works. I assume he has options left too so can easily go down for some tinkering once our injured guys get back. Besides the immediate need now, this could've also been just as much a move for next year when they lose so many SPs

    Presumably it would take weeks for whoever it is to ramp up anyway, by that time the should have several guys back from the DL. Seems like the help would come too late. But of course no harm in another good pitcher

    In addition, they've been behind by a lot in almost every game. Dumb to risk outs on the bases when down by several runs

    possible crucial point in the game and ump misses two calls that weren't all that close to deny a 3-0 count. gotta love it

    But stuff in Mexico, DR, Puerto Rico, etc are much easier. Even the UK isn't that difficult. I think most of them have been done and didn't get near the attention or success as this one did, for kind of obvious reasons with all the Japanese players on the teams. I guess while they currently have two homeless teams in TB/Oak it would be a good time to schedule some of their 'home' games in places like that and see what happens.

    Yea all he has to do is hit at a competent level and he's solid MLB starting player due to such good D and baserunnig. But the way he's been hyped/talked about is not just to be a good starter, but some kind of star. There's a difference between say Harrison Bader to Kyle Tucker. 'd have my money on more Bader for PCA, Cubs fans/hype seems to expect way more though. It certainly is possible though since he's so young

    Its too bad our starting pitching got hit by injuries so don't really have the depth to trade from like one would've thought a month ago. Aside from current SP you'd think their next would be to get younger prospects not close to needing 40 man spots, which presumably we should match up well with them. Just too bad we can't even afford to give up a current innings eater type like Cortes/Civale to fit that urgent need for them. Really, Bal and MIA for Alcantara really make a lot of sense.

    I can't see anyway Bennet would even consider the MN job outside of just an absurd amount of money that's not even in the realm of reality. He just quit a great job in the ACC 9 months ago where he could have sat for years and years. I'm almost sure his wife is from that VA/NC area, he's probably old enough that they don't have little kids anymore though. I don't see why a year later he'd take on the mess that is MN. He can take a few years off and relax while the NCAA sorts out the quirks of the NIL system, wait for a legit good job to come open and he'll get it. Heck he can probably just go back to VA in 3-4 years whenever he's ready. Or if he just doesn't want to deal with the NIL bs just go be a defensive coordinator type assistant in the NBA, collect a couple mil a year.

    Yea with that contract it would never happen. And I can't imagine they'll trade him, eventually he'll just settle into 1B/DH for the year and the story will go away. And for his beef, chances are he'd have the same beef with the Brewers. He's not good at 3B D, so we'd also be telling him to move to 1B/DH

    Fair. Yea I just started with 40K seats and the slashed it to a bit less than half, never checked the real number of cars as I was just winging it because, like you said, the total number wasn't the point. But yea, I'd guess on a near sellout game on a weekend that more than 1/12 leave above .08. I generally agree with your points on your low guess, I just think getting to .08 is easier than the avg person thinks and why I'd guess higher. And of course WI drinking culture would move up national polls like you mentioned, we are way different here with it. But who knows, we're all just throwing stuff out there guessing, the main idea was just that they can't be a party to pumping out even more really drunk people than they already are, considering the police are already giving them a huge break letting it operate the way it is. If one thinks about its kinda crazy, I mean you have a ton of cops just standing there doing nothing as lots and lots of people drive right by them after drinking for hours, and they know it and just let look the other way. Part of WI drinking culture. I recall last year I went with some friends from the UK, they couldn't believe how the driving was just no big deal. And UK people are the rare bunch that drink as much as WI people.

    TBF, I don't know how many cars the lot holds, it might be way less than that number. But .08 is very easy to get to. On a Fri/Sat I would guess its definitely the majority of cars though, likely well above 50%. But obviously I have no idea, its pure guess

    I go to my share and I don't think prices since covid are bad at all, Can usually get lower level tickets for way less than $100, and I usually go on weekends. I've sat in the first 5 rows several times for like $50. In a stadium that already has overdrinking issues and allows everyone to drink for 'free' in the parking lot, there is no way they can go to cheap alcohol. Besides money, trying to deter overdrinking is a big factor. Especially when you already have the cops looking the other way on 15-20K DUIs leaving the parking lot every night. Biggest thing Miller Park needs to do is get good food. For a state famous for its foods they really do suck at it atMP.

    Side note, I've been at places in LV where Shaq has been performing. Generally speaking, he does a good job with what he's doing (its not my thing, I just happen to be there). But I had friends that did a fair amount of interacting with him there and when he was in MKE for the playoffs over the years. It does seem all the stories of him actually being a legit nice/good guy are true. If I recall correctly, one of his kids is trying to be a real deal DJ so Shaq is kind of doing it with him to help him and use his name. Plus I'm sure he has fun with it.

    They've been doing post game concerts for a while with mid tier at best groups, heck Nelly is probably one of the bigger names to do it. Really nothing new or a big deal to discuss. I've been at games where they have it and haven't bothered to stay. I actually think one several years ago was a long extra inning game like 13+ innings so it probably wouldn't start until well after midnight and there was probably no one at it.

    Hoskins is gone after this year freeing up tons of 1B/DH abs. Contreras is gone after two years freeing up even more DH ABs
