  1. I agree. This thread will be much more appropriate about June 1. A lot needs to play out between now and then.
  2. He'd probably post an OPS somewhere right between .993 and .760. Either way, I think he'd be fairly expensive, and just not worth the price. Especially, when this team can be improved at other positions.
  3. IMHO, the Brewers top deadline priorities will be: 1. High level starting pitching. If you truly want to complete with the Dodgers and Padres I think they could use 1 more arm after Woodruff and Burnes. 2. Maybe a 1B or 3B. I hope Hiura and Shaw work out but I expect at least 1 to flop. That said, if they go after Story, I doubt he comes cheap. Negotiations probably start with a headliner of Mitchell, Hedbert Perez, Small, or Turang and then maybe 1 or 2 other guys. The Brewers certainly could get it done with what's in their system but I don't think this would be my top priority.
  4. All those great arms in the pen, but Yardley is going to get 70+ appearances. He's the new Claudio. Yardley is going to find himself DFA'd real fast IMHO. He was terrible this spring and is not good enough to be bad for a long period of time without being shown the door.
  5. Another season of him swinging at neck-high fastballs! Yay! This kid was billed as a natural contact hitter when drafted and coming up. I'm not sure when he decided he was a exclusive power guy, but boo! Its really really disheartening. Reminds of Weeks. Big whiffs, bad defense, and an occasion bomb. Only difference is Weeks couldnt lay off a slider, Hiura cant lay off the high cheese.
  6. By my count McKinney is 14th position player and Feyereisen the 12th pitcher. 12 + 14 = 26 so that should do it for the roster. With the off days early on I'm not surprised they went with 14 position players.
  7. Yelich looks "right" again. Not sure he will win the MVP, but I would expect a significant rebound from his 2020 numbers.
  8. Brewers swept the Rangers. Let the regular season begin!
  9. Lindblom and Houser. Gulp.
  10. Todd Frazier opted out of his deal with the Pirates. https://sports.yahoo.com/veteran-infielder-frazier-opts-deal-173742691.html I wouldnt be opposed to a Frazier/Shaw platoon. Granted I'm not sure Frazier is a major upgrade over Robertson.
  11. I have not gotten to watch the game yet, but it appears Peralta really struggled his second time through the lineup today. I have a feeling this third attempt to make him a starter is not going to go well.
  12. Trevor Bauer faced the Brewers in a spring training game a couple weeks ago. He posted a detailed video analysis of the Brewers hitters that can be found here: Thought some of you might find it interesting. He basically says he respects Bradley and thinks Shaw sucks.
  13. If he's the next Lorenzo Cain, I am fine with that. You dont need big power to be a star in CF if you are fast, play solid defense, and post a nice OBP/OPS. From what we are seeing Mitchell is very close to ready to do that at the big league level. If he flames out with his current approach, then sure, make a change. But dont fix an approach that currently works.
  14. Pretty sure they announced that Cain is playing his first game tomorrow, along with Devin Williams. I'm less worried about Williams. He threw a lot last year and relievers really only need 3-4 outings to get ready. Cain didnt play last year and I fear will need more AB's to get ready. Maybe the team isnt worried as he is a veteran. Who knows.
  15. Good to see Yelich in the lineup. Still no Cain. Not a lot of time to get him AB's to get ready for the season. Especially after missing last year.
  16. I'm starting to get a bit concerned not seeing Yelich. I wonder if the back tightness is a bit worse than the Brewers led us to believe.
  17. I predict Green will be Brewers starting 3B by midseason after Shaw "rebounds" and puts up Justin Smoak 2020 type numbers. All Green has done this spring so far is have all 5 of this hits go for extra bases. He's primed for a monster year in AAA. I agree with this 100%. Shaw just doesn't impress me.
  18. The ship on Urias is quickly setting sail. There are no indications that he is going to hit for enough power or a high enough OBP to stick at SS or 3B. Long term he looks like a second baseman. And even then he is going to need to get things on track.
  19. I couldn't agree more. His strikeouts are just at a completely unsustainable level for any kind of elite hitter. Doesn't have the power of a Joey Gallo to just survive on homers alone and still not sure he can play even passable defense either. He just doesn't seem to be showing any signs of improvement at the plate and what once looked like a cornerstone is just covered in red flags today. I still firmly believe the Brewers should be thinking about a Plan B at 1st. Previously, it was mostly a defensive worry. However, it is becoming more and more of an offensive worry.
  20. I'll easily take the under on that 100. I think we all knew the end of that 5 year deal would be a nightmare. So, here we are. Imagine having Grisham instead of Garcia. Yelich, Bradley, Grisham. Damnit man, dont do that... I really want both back. I would love Davies still in our rotation... Woodruff, Burnes, Davies, Houser, Lindblom... Who doesnt like that? That trade could end up an absolute disaster. Grisham is only starting to enter his prime and is already looking like a high OBP average power guy. Urias and Lauer look like dog poo.
  21. I just don't see the Hiura thing working at 1B. I hope the Brewers have a backup in mind.
  22. I have to wonder if this is part of why Jackie Bradley was signed. I'll be surprised if Cain starts more than 100 games this year.
