  1. It was just reported that File had surgery and will miss a good chunk of 2021. You can likely cross him off the list. See below. https://www.jsonline.com/story/sports/mlb/brewers/2021/02/28/brewers-pitching-prospect-dylan-file-recovering-elbow-surgery/6859682002/

  3. Any chance this additional depth is a sign that a Hader trade may be forthcoming?
  4. I seem to remember Seager being discussed on this forum in the past. The issue is that he is expensive (owed $15,000,000.00 for 2021, with a 2022 club option at $15,000,000.00), and not getting any younger at 33. If he is traded then the 2022 option becomes a player option. https://www.spotrac.com/mlb/seattle-mariners/kyle-seager-8618/ If the Brewers are taking the entire contract then I do think a package of something like Lutz and Ashby would get it done. I just don't see a fit here.
  5. Yep. Great story. Hah!
  6. I am glad to see the asking pricing is very high. Earlier this offseason I convinced myself that the Brewers were going to take a light return in order to effectuate a salary dump.
  7. I wouldn't go that far, yet. There is still lots of time for any one of Harrison, Brinson, and/or Diaz to figure it out and be a stud. That said, the early returns are looking good for Stearns.
  8. Nice. Pretty slick move by Stearns.
  9. "Arcia's deal is not guaranteed" ? I guess that would suggest it is incentive laden, or contingent on a certain number of AB's?
  10. Arcia's deal also showing up on the MLBTraderumors.com non-tender spreadsheet. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1qdqDFDpbzh-T9OMifmt2fLTiJw0_0jd56OVr9yWNoFI/edit#gid=0
  11. Excellent post. This is the bigger picture key. If Yelich is really a .205 hitter then this franchise is in a really bad position. Not saying he needs to bat .326 with a .402 OBP like 2018. However, the crew needs Yelich to bat around .300 with an OBP around .400. They crew is paying Yelich to be the face of the franchise. He must produce at All-Star levels or we are screwed. It would be nice to complement Yelich with a bopper at 3B or 1B. However, we just have to be realistic that the Brewers are not going to spend big this offseason.
  12. Well technically they will sign a free agent or two I'm sure. Whether those free agents are anything more than min. wage fodder, I don't know. The article guessed the Yankees would spend their free agent money on pitching first, hence the thought process where LeMaieu is available for us. Not that we are outbidding the Yankees. I am very doubtful the Brewers will make a splash on any multi year bigtime free agents. The Brewers really need a 1B, a 3B, and a middle of the rotation starter. I expect most to come by trade. If they cannot fill all three by trade maybe they are forced to splurge on one guy. I see a Tommy La Stella or Brett Anderson as the biggest splash we will see this winter.
  13. Very good news. I also wanted no part of him and his walks....especially at $8 million. W00F.
  14. I could see Gamel and his salary gone and Mckinney and Taylor in as the backup outfielders. I just dont see the Brewers spending millions on 4th and 5th outfielders or utility infielders.
  15. Thank god! Hopefully this time for good.
  16. I think that is going to be the plan for 80%+ of the teams this year....
  17. This. I think we are only seeing the beginning. Brewers are going to look to chop payroll wherever possible.
  18. The offseason has just started and teams are out to shed payroll. I am very scared the Brewers might be out to trade Hader to shed his $4 million plus salary (likely well over $4 million after arbitration.) Williams is your closer, Hader brings back a couple young players. Not saying I want this to happen, just concerned that is where things are headed in 2021.
  19. I think this is just the beginning. Teams are not going to want massive payrolls heading into the uncertainty of 2021. I gotta think the Brewers will be out to jettison guys like Gamel, Sogard, etc. Probably going to see a lot players like Urias, Taylor, heck maybe even Corey Ray gets a shot. No need to spend millions on utility players or 4th and 5th outfielders. I also think Hader might be out the door in an effort to shed salary.
  20. They would be the perfect fit for a Hader trade.
  21. I guess it's possible. Melancon is a F/A after this season, but they did just pay Will Smith big money this past offseason. So, I'm assuming that he'll slot into the closer role next year after MM leaves. . Personally though, I'm loving watching the Dodgers bullpen blow chunks in this series. Guess what LA....we've got the best reliever in baseball over the past three years. Make us your best offer! I really really wouldnt be surprised if the Dodgers are desperate this offeseason and make a run at Hader... I live in Arizona and know a few diehard Dodgers fans. They are not happy they have not won a WS. If they choke it versus the Braves the fanbase will be livid...
  22. Boy. If the Dodgers fail to make the World Series much less win it, I imagine they will be desperate this offseason. Kershaw will be in the last year of his deal next year and is now 32 years old. Justin Turner is gone after this year. Kenley Jansen is 33 and looking shakey.

  24. Dont mess with whats not broken. Freddy has been excellent out of the pen. Leave him there.
  25. I wouldn't want Braun back for any price. He has become so injury prone that CC would be lucky to get 75 games from him. Vogelbach deserves the first look at DH. Stearns has to find reliable guys and forget about Braun. +1. I originally thought of maybe bringing him back for $5-6 million, which would be the $4million buyout he is owed plus $1 or $2million. However, the guy just cannot stay helathy....so pass...
