Thats what I'm hearing. I have a friend here in AZ who is a Brewers amateur scout. Without getting into too much detail, he has told me that the Brewers have pulled a bunch of their amateur scouts away to do professional scouting on the lower levels of the Rangers system. Apparently this is the first time the Brewers have done this since he has been with them (3 years). Leads me to believe the Brewers may be looking at getting a bunch of young guys in lieu of a couple guys who are close to the MLB. Take it for what its worth.

If they are, I could see Lucroy and Jeffress to the Red Sox for a package centered around Moncada or Andrew Benintendi, with Rafael Devers as piece #2. It's pretty well known that Dave Dombrowski is willing to use the farm system to win now. He is the anti-Theo Epstein.

I'm not sure if Braun is a prima donna or just constantly injured. Either way, I agree. I hope they can get something for him before he becomes injured and completely unproductive.

The Braves are some kind of terrible. 110 losses is not out of the picture for that team. They are currently averaging less than 7 wins per month and are currently on pace for 57 wins.

If he keeps it up, and stays healthy, I guarantee they will be talking about him by July 1. People are not talking about him now because of his nagging injuries and large salary. The brewers have played 46 total games and Braun has appeared in only 38. That's a 75% clip and means Braun is on pace to play in only 121 games. At his salary level, I would think teams would want at least 140 games out of him.

I think Jungmann needs to be sent to AA Biloxi. I don't think the thin Colorado Springs air is the full problem, but the guy has issues, and the thin air of Colorado is not the place to figure things out.

Nice report, sounds like Hader's ceiling is as a #2 starter and occasional all-star while Hader's floor is as a legit back end reliever. Not bad.

I would have liked to have seen the Brewers grab Lincecum. I think the Angels got a bargain there assuming they didn't give Lincecum multiple years.

I've seen enough of Walsh. With guys like Arcia, Orf, Rivera, Middlebrooks and Cecchini in the organization I just dont see a reason to keep trotting out Walsh. Offer him back to the A's. If they decline, then great, send him to AAA.

I'm just spitballing, but I wonder if something with more players involved that included Nelson on our end would tempt them, since it would solve that problem. At that point, I'm not sure it's even worth it for us. I realize the mere thought of dealing their top prospect might be something the Nationals wouldn't even entertain. I do think to a degree some GMs overvalue prospects. As good as Gioloto is, there is no guarantee of him coming up and becoming a Kershaw or an Arrieta. I believe Rickie Weeks was a top 5 prospect at one time. Sometimes it just doesn't translate at the MLB level the way GMs hope. That said, I know the cost-controlled element of a prospect adds a great deal to their perceived value. I think Nelson would be the prime sell high candidate. He is pitching like a true #2, he is under team control through 2020, he is still young at 26 years old, and is still cheap. Sadly, most expect that the Brewers rebuild will last at least until 2018. This means that his 2016, 2017, and 2018 campaigns will be lost to the rebuild. Then you have to hope he is still healthy and productive in 2019. If a Nelson/Braun or Nelson/Lucroy package can bring you back the moon, I think you have to at least consider it. I dont think the Nats would put Giolito on the table. But if a team were to offer 3 or 4 legit top 100ish pitching prospects I think Stearns would have to at least consider. Off the top of my head, I believe Texas and Philidelphia are the only two teams with farm systems stocked enough to do such a deal.

They ran out of money. It's like saying "if you want to get to work on time, you don't drive a car that continually breaks down." Sometimes you can't afford a better alternative. Melvin/Attanasio always ran over budget. In an LLC, if the team loses money, the owners either have to borrow money (adding to debt, which means higher future debt payments), or take the money out of their own pockets to pay the overage. At some point, they say "no more." Not necessarily. It might be possible that each member was putting in a couple hundred thousand to cover overages each year. However, if the appraised value of the LLC (the Brewers) went up by millions, its possible that the owners would be just fine as they will be in line for a big payday when they sell their membership in the LLC.

And Jean Segura is absolutely mashing for the Dbacks. Go figure.

I dont think missing bats is every a concern.....as long as the walks are low. May the inability to go deep into games makes him a #2 instead of a #1. If the guy can dominate for 5-6 innings and hand it over to the pen, i'm happy.
