  1. "It's easy to be ice cold "right now", when the statline you referenced is the only playing time Hiura has gotten in the last 10 days. Prior to that he was still producing at a decent enough clip not to warrant being benched for a full calendar week to allow a guy producing offensively to the equivalent of a pitcher (McCutcheon) everyday at bats." I am simply responding to you saying he was producing before being benched and you inferring McCutchen was worse. Before being benched Hiura was batting like a pitcher and definitely worse than McCutchen. When you strike out 50% of the time you just aren't very reliable and I am sure the Brewers don't really care for it right now. Still, him not even seeing an appearance for days on end is a bit strange...at best. Now what McCutchen has done the last 10 days is a different story and conversation. I mean one could argue neither really deserves the everyday ABs.
  2. What exactly is the purpose of Kwik Trip putting in an outlet for EVs...like Level 1 charging outlet? Is it just some dumb concept so they can show up on EV charger maps online? Because even if you decided to spend 30 minutes inside Kwik Trip you are talking like...a few miles of EV charge. They even plop it on the side of the vacuum/tire pump to waste a space if someone actually parks to plug their car in. When I saw kwik trip show up on charging maps I assumed people were randomly plugging into the side of the building.
  3. To start September: Keston Hiura - 5/29, 2 R, 0 RBI, 13 K, 1 BB Andrew McCutchen - 6/24, 3 R, 4 RBI, 7 K, 2 BB Who has the pitcher stateline?
  4. A) There is probably more to this story than one would know. B) Before his banishment he was absolutely terrible. He entered September with an OPS of .851 and managed to tank it under .800 in barely a week. In those 8 games he struck out 13 times. Something I found interesting about Hiura. He may have 14 HRs on the year, but outside of that he has a pathetic 5 XBHs. That just isn't a very valuable set of tools and never has been....especially for a guy that can't field well. Keston Hiura is the kind of dude that is fun to watch on a sub. .500 team because he can kinda pad his stats against average pitchers and hit homers. However, on a competing team the reality of the player is much more noticeable. If your team is competing you want/expect to beat really good teams...well Keston Hiura and his semi-truck sized hole in his swing will struggle mightily when it matters. To be honest, Keston Hiura is like Chris Carter. If you want a guy to go smash 40 HRs, he is your guy. However, not really all that valuable. I get the team has been a bit boring this year, but watching Hiura make history breaking the single season strikeout record probably won't help matters.
  5. Yah, they both have their concerns for sure. very way I look at it I see it washing out pretty close to even...and that is what most evaluation tools have it as. If Najee really regresses in the passing game or AJ Dillon gets hurt...that would certainly sway things to probably favoring Jones. I ended up taking Najee. His offense and O-Line may not be good...but feels like historically, RBs in those situations still thrive quite a bit when they are the only RB. Especially when they get almost all the redzone touches every week. May not be pretty...but I am sure he will grind it out every week to put up some points.

  8. Did anyone care to actually read the article....or? Alderson isn't even the day-to-day baseball operations guy. "The team president role is an overhead position, with that individual responsible for impacting both the baseball and business operations of the organization. Alderson is not the team’s day-to-day baseball ops decision-maker, and the incoming hire is not expected to take that role either. Daily baseball operations tasks fall to general manager Billy Eppler, who signed a four-year contract last November. There’s no indication that Alderson’s change will have any impact on Eppler’s job status; Martino writes that Mets ownership has been “pleased” with Eppler’s work thus far, hardly a surprise considering the team is a lock to reach the playoffs and is battling the defending World Series champion Braves for the NL East title." The Mets have won 90 games already and lead their division, I doubt they want anything to do with our president of baseball operations or anyone else's for that matter.
  9. I had a guy offer Najee Harris for Aaron Jones. Obviously he is trying to panic sell Harris thinking their offensive line is so garbage he is going to disappoint. Aaron Jones is in the more electric offensive...but he is at best in a 50/50 split and it sure looks like Dillon could be the more preferred guy on the field. Even though the offense is better...is he really going to best Najee Harris, who is the main back by far? Not like the Steelers are a total disaster. Harris should get plenty of carries and touches near the end zone. Kinda temped to accept it, to be honest.
  10. Yah, I have no idea why people think the shift is dead. Do people just read headlines without reading the rule and thinking about how it would work? Really all they were trying to do is outlaw infielders in the OF and three guys completely on one side. I think they were trying to send baseball back to the typical shift that just had infielders backed up and the 2B/SS basically standing behind 2B. Of course a team could technically do the above and we probably will see it for a lot of guys that pull flyballs and ground balls both at crazy high rates. The above isn't perfect though because A) many guys pull grounders, but that doesn't necessarily mean they don't have a lot of oppo flyballs. No 3B is no big deal because worst case is a single...but forcing to use an OF as an infielder creates automatic doubles if it drops. B) it does force you to play your CF more true as you need to defend LF/RF in some capacity. No longer can you cram both the CF and the corner OF on the same side making it almost impossible to get a hit outside a line drive. Heck in that diagram the LF is playing true. C) You probably won't do this if guys are on base as anything into the dead OF space is clearing the bases.
  11. Somehow this story has gotten even uglier years later...yikes. Favre jumped through every hoop possible to try and take as much money from a welfare program in the countries poorest state...to build a college volleyball facility his daughter played at. Guess a famous guy with a net worth over $100mil couldn't figure it out any other way. Hope Favre finds himself, along with the rest involved, in jail cells. 12. You know, Corbin Burnes is an adult. He could just as easily pick up the phone and call the Brewers. If he really wanted to stay that bad he would ask his agent to approach them. This has happened many times before. Pretty sure that is how both Braun extensions started.
  13. I mean honestly, who cares. We all know what is going on here, it is exactly like Josh Hader. We know we can't afford to pay him and he is going to get dealt. I don't even want him for a 'discount'. We have done that twice and it has not worked either time. Hopefully Yelich will continue to marginally produce like Braun did so it is merely a bad contract and not a total trainwreck. The Brewers are going to cast him off and it quite honestly could happen this offseason. We all knew any realistic dreams of signing Burnes longterm died the second Yelich was handed a deal. Something tells me Burnes was probably approached back in the 2018-2020 time range, back when it was a reasonable thing to afford. Once he had his 2021 season our chances were pretty much dead. I can't imagine we can afford a hometown discount, even that would likely be pushing $30mil a year. I really don't see a problem not even approaching him. The Brewers probably don't want to spend the money and know he is a big trade chip to refill the farm...just like Hader. Do we really need to be dropping $25mil a year on Burnes into his 30s? We don't have the payroll to fill a team with aging players taking up $50mil+ of our payroll. We can't field a strong competitive team with him making $6.5mil, not sure how we will do that if he makes nearly 5x that.
  14. Only $18mil a year to go for the next two years for the Braves. Yikes
  15. I am sure he will be fine, but thus, trading for a guy with 1.5 years or less of control can be real fickle. Even if he reverts to a more normal Hader next year...he is well on his way to bombing 1/3 of that remaining control. That being said...as long as they make the postseason, that is where his production matters. If he throws lights out in a postseason run that is really what they paid for. Usually when you are tossing huge money at a closer or trading for one, you have your eyes set on October. A lot of talk about non tendering him...0% chance that happens...absolute 0% chance a team non tenders Hader after one poor half season. Padres will pony up the money even if he struggles the rest of the year or they will trade him to a team perfectly happy to do so. $15mil or whatever isn't a huge one year gamble for a large payroll team for a guy like Hader.
  16. I just noticed how pathetic the WC race is in the NL. Brewers are basically the only team on the outside looking in. MAYBE the Giants if they suddenly get red hot....not sure they can really catch two teams above them though.
  17. Chourio on his way to being the most hyped prospect in Brewers history. Could even make an argument he already is ranking that high that young. Arcia was once in the single digits on rankings...but when he was debuting at the MLB level. To be getting that much projection and promise at A+ is nuts. You would have to go down into the 30s to find another player that isn't a pitcher or premium offensive position that high (SS/C).
  18. Won't need to know the schedule past the Wild Card round...if that.
  19. But that is comparing two different markets with massively different demographics...especially financially. San Diego has double the metro size and is certainly more wealthy. 1/3 of the Milwaukee metro area is Milwaukee itself, where the median income is like $45k. Thinking Brewer fans are going to buy an expensive ticket, expensive travel for many, and then go spend big bucks before ever entering the stadium is a bit of a stretch. You can compare them to the Bucks a bit...but I think we could agree the demographics going to a Bucks game tends to be a little more upscale than a Brewers game. Would the Brewers really benefit from not having the sea of parking lots and instead a more vibrant place to spend money around it? Debatable...it would certainly tank attendance and are the remaining really going to spend enough to offset that? Tailgating is a big part of Brewer culture...I just can't see them going back in retrospect to build in an anti-tailgate area. I think people overthink what the Brewers could or should do. Some grand ballpark village just flat out won't work. There will still be plenty of parking lot space to drink and eat your own stuff. They just need simple targeted things. Pop-up tailgate party's (which they have done a little) or something like the Packers have in the Bar SE of the stadium toward the Resch. Maybe some live music from time to time, place to get AC or avoid the elements, non porta potty bathrooms, mixed drinks. I am kinda surprised they haven't done some kind of hotel. You would make a massive killing during baseball season and I am sure it would do perfectly fine outside of that with the VA so close by. I am sure that is exactly what someone thought when they put a Marriott on Miller Park Way/National Ave. It honestly is a pretty decent year round hotel location. But of course...the Brewers have many financial real estate experts. If it was worth it, I am sure they would have done it by now.
  20. What exactly was a downtown stadium going to do? Small market is a small market. Not to mention (no offense to any Milwaukee city faithful) what exactly downtown Milwaukee was going to help add value for the Brewers? Again, sorry to offend anyone...but Milwaukee downtown is pretty bland and the stadium probably would have still not been that close. I would rather drink my own cheap beer, downing brats, and absorbing sunrays....versus buying overpriced beer in a bar and being cramped like I am in a sardine can. Not like you would get some Pittsburgh-like skyline because A) The Milwaukee skyline isn't that great...well unless you are out on Lake Michigan...but I don't think a floating stadium would have been in the cards and B) it would have most certainly been a retractable roof regardless.
  21. I mean generously speaking he is okay, but he is not really anywhere close to his Marlin days. Closer to his Marlins days than his first year in Milwaukee, I suppose. They traded for a guy that had an OPS+ of 118/135/120 in the years prior to the trade. Considering his age and moving to a better ballpark it was pretty reasonable he would improve simply based on that. Now he is a 'meh' defender and has to work hard just to get his OPS+ over 100. Finding a .730 OPS hitter for Miller Park at the LF position would be pretty darn easy every single winter for a low cost. Could find someone to hit just as well and play way better defense on constant 1-year deals. We probably have a guy in the minors that could do the same from Day 1. Sure...he still provides value with the bat to some degree...but it isn't like we would have any kind of difficulty finding that overnight. Hope he kind rekindle some power and at least give us some year of an above average hitter.
  22. Didn't your mom ever tell you jealousy will get you nowhere? Idk, I guess I really don't care that much what other teams do. I only marginally care if it is a team that crushed our dreams before and even then...that is only if they are playing us.
  23. Not really a big deal. Obviously Lamet was 99% just to offset some salary and the Brewers were probably like, "erm, maybe he can also be useful on the team too." But them after other moves they decided there was no point trying to get any production from him.
  24. Well...the bigger part of that was trading Odorizzi for James Shields and Wade Davis. So I guess you could say the Royals went all in themselves. Not sure what other big moves they made outside of that.
  25. What is the real value of that pick? How much does a team that can spend a boatload of money on a catcher really care about that? I just think Contreras is good enough and is looking at a big enough contract it shouldn't do to much to his market. But the moods of teams on QOs is really goofy year to year.
