  1. Yah...but will they make guys go that fast? I wish they did...but I doubt it will be anything like that. They actually made a rule to ban stupid stuff like Braun did a LONG time ago...had to be pushing 2015. You were supposed to stay in the box unless you fouled it off. No one wanted to enforce it though as it wasn't any in game punishment. It certainly reduced it to some extent, but players still don't follow it very well.
  2. This is not really true at all. For four years now there has been a timer between innings and for pitching changes. It is followed pretty reliably. I am 100% confident no pitcher in the last four years has been sitting in the dugout for minutes after the last inning. You are basically trying to infer a pitcher is sitting in the dugout when the timer hits zero and should be pitching. Let alone taking warm-up pitches. This extra time you are claiming that adds 20 minutes does not exist at all.
  3. Too high of expectations for the team that the NLDS just isn't a hot ticket. I am sure people are saving their opportunity/money to go to the NLCS/World Series. The NLCS games are already completely sold out. Not even sure how many were available to the 10 pack holders at 10am today.
  4. The problem with this is the fact there is no more time to shorten between breaks. It takes time to get off the field, on the field, get catchers gear on, do warm up pitches, and then start playing again. Unlike other sports Baseball doesn't just do commercials randomly during play...it is in whatever breaks the game has and they last as long as those breaks truly take. I mean I guess you could tell everyone to go faster and give them 15 seconds less...but at some point shaving 5 minutes off a game is doing nothing. Not to mention people do not like split screen ads when the game is literally going on. People cry over a split screen interview when the game is going on. I don't think Gruber Law blowing up half the screen is going to go over well. Shaving 15 minutes off a game is doing nothing. Unless we start shaving the average game time to 2:30 or maybe 2:45 I don't think anyone is going to notice. I just don't know if that is really all that possible.
  5. Hoping for: White Sox over Astros Red Sox over Rays Brewers over Braves Dodgers = Giants I know people probably want the Rays to win, but I really dislike their lack of regular season attendance and I think the way they run their team is a bit overrated. I will refrain from picking in the other NL match-up because it just seems a bit silly to start hoping for your NLCS opponent before you even make it there yourself. I just hope we get there to face either of them.
  6. There is no way to make baseball games faster. Baseball is boring to watch and 'feels' slow. That is flat out the reality. I love baseball, but I cannot deny it is kind of boring to watch on a regular basis. NFL games are just as long and no one really complains about needing to fix speed of games. It just doesn't seem like length is the problem...it is just the fact it is slow paced and certain things in the game make it feel like the game is paused for ten minutes.
  7. Changing the size of the ball would likely be a ball control nightmare. I support fixing shifts. Really all I want to see is two infielders on each side of the field. Putting one near second on the left side and then having your SS near you RFer took shifting to a stupid level. I would be okay with an infielder slightly into the OF, but again, some are halfway to the RF wall. It is just ridiculous and it is incredibly annoying/frustrating for people to watch. Watching guys destroy a ball only for the 2B to catch it back by the RFer is dumb. I get it...the guys should learn how to hit it the other way or too bad for them. I love that idea if guys would actually change their ways (and it isn't that simple to just start doing). Unfortunately, that isn't going to happen and they have to do something about it.
  8. Cheers, thanks! 3 hours, but they will start letting people in once the line backs up onto the highway. Which is pretty common for postseason games and opening day.
  9. I don't really care to make the postseason take 6 months like the NBA.
  10. It is a big deal because he is an NFL coach...I mean he should be a little smarter than this knowing cameras will be around him. I mean it is his bar...people are certainly going to recognize him. Lets be real here though, most 56 year old men probably dream of that happening to them. Plenty of married men go to strip clubs and get more action than that.
  11. The wild card was a genius idea and the second wild card was a brilliant idea. The one game playoff is good, I could see the argument for a three game series...but is what it is. It isn't suppose to be fair. It is supposed to be fun and exciting. That is why divisions exist and why the postseason exists. If it was abut figuring out the best team we would just crown the Giants champs and not play the postseason at all, the Giants were the best team.
  12. I mean there were like 60k people who came to watch outside the stadium for game 6, the Bucks support around this state isn't a joke anymore. I guess I wouldn't be that surprised if it's $800 after fees but $1k seems too high unless it's a possible clinching game. Just because a bunch of people stood outside the stadium to be trendy doesn't mean much. Anyone I knew that went to the Deer District watched zero games before the run and will likely revert to zero games next year....until the playoffs of course. Right now those people are just a trendy fair-weather crowd. Maybe Giannis is around long enough and wins another 'ship it can grow the fanbase a little bit...but the Bucks are not and will never be a strong interest much past a few hours from Milwaukee. I would have to guess the first home game will be a fairly hot ticket. I cannot imagine a lot of SSHs will be selling their tickets for that one. If we get to host the Game 1 that will probably increase interest even more. If we aren't hosting then all bets are off. We could be down 0-2 going into that first home game or we could be up 2-0. Those scenarios would obviously alter prices by the hundreds. A lot will really depend on how committed season ticket holders are to going versus the payout for selling. Not every day you can sell 2-4 games worth of tickets for thousands in profit. Obviously a lot of SSHs sell Cubs games because of the profit attached to those games that don't really hold such value compared to the other 70 home games to us. Of course there aren't 70 other World Series games if you sell...you may never get the chance to go ever again.
  13. The games would probably be sold out, but SSH can sell under face value and make money/break even. For instance a ticket from the Brewers is $60, but a SSH is only paying $40 for that ticket. Lots of people who won't take off for the games are selling, thus hurting purchases directly from the Brewers a bit.
  14. Game 1 will be a pretty big game for us. Not only will Burnes pitch, but it is also a home game. Losing that game would not be a very good start. It is the postseason though and all about short term results. It is the time of year where the results don't always make a ton of sense. Daniel Vogelbach may be our best hitter or our best start in a series may not even be Burnes/Woodruff. JBJ may be the hero of October with his bat. I already envision the offense exploding for 5+ runs to back up a terrible Woodruff start even though they barely could give the guy a run or two in most of his starts. You can nitpick who has an advantage here and there, but reality is, in five games that may not mean a whole lot. For all we know Devin Williams punching a wall avoided having him implode like 2018 Jeffress this year. Who is hot, who is not in a seven day stretch. That is who will be playing in the NLCS.
  15. It is completely ridiculous and once again proof that TV ratings drive everything. I mean yah...it is a business trying to make money. I don't know why anyone would expect something different.
  16. So what is everyone thinking for final record. They have been bad, but this was a brutal open to the season. Things from here on out are way more generous. Not easy for a not great team like this years Badgers, but games are much more winnable. Assuming they win their next two games I still think they get to 6 wins, 7 wins wouldn’t shock me. If they lose against Illinois or Army I’d get a little more nervous. The offense is horrid, but it can only go up and the defense should help win games against less daunting opponents. Of course they probably need a healthy Mertz (no matter how much he sucks) and for the love of god could they please stop turning it over so much.
  17. I really don't think college is being overly pushed on kids and tech college certainly don't have a negative stigma. I recall going to the tech college at least 6 times before I graduated HS and never once did we ever visit the actual university close by. At the end of the day for the large majority of people college is the best path in life...that is just the reality and rightfully it is pushed. Trying to push being a plumber etc. is not going to work. Either you want to be that or you don't. We don't need people in trade schools that don't like it...that would be awful. That is probably what every garbage plumber, mechanic, electrician had happen. Most of the people in college that are failing, directionless, or wasting their time can be fit into like three groups: 1) Their parents are paying for them to be there thus reducing motivation etc. It also makes many of them totally not think about how financially advantageous their future major will be. That is where you get Sally doing women studies or painting pictures for four years. Now you could say this could include kids being there because they were pushed to by their parents. However, in my four years at college I never heard anyone say they went to college because their parents or their high school told them to. I really just don't think that is as common as some think. 2) They are getting lots of grant/free money to go. As with #1, motivation in college can get pretty spotty when someone else is footing most of the bill for you. I went to a school that had a large diverse background and admitted a lot of kids from struggling communities. Yes, the lack of cost allowed them to get in, but many just weren't that motivated to actually put in the effort. They probably didn't want to go to college anyway. Of course I would never say we should stop giving out grants, it is a double edged sword. Many waste them, but it also helps some make college possible. 3) The idea that you must go to college right away even if you have no idea what you want to go for, gap years are like the devil. The amount of people I saw never really figure out a major or it takes so long they end up with 5-6 years in college was really high. That expensive and many just didn't pick a great major in the end. They either picked something fun like art or did business management that they weren't passionate about. Which the later usually ends up causing them to not use it after graduation. Of course there is a valid reason why gap years are frowned upon. Statistically gap years end up lasting forever and kids never go. Of course maybe that is good and they shouldn't have gone in the first place. As far as the gen eds and all the 'unneeded' classes. I personally support having them, I think it is highly beneficial to a lot of students. It forces you to interact with different backgrounds and different ways of thinking. Of course for some they are trying to figure out their major taking those gen eds. I get to some people they don't need it and it is wasteful. They can't make 10,000+ different paths through college to please everyone. Some of those majors may not even exist if there aren't gen ed students to fill the classes to get money for that department. I am sure many never used to the gym they paid $150 a year for. I am sure many don't utilize the black student union that gets $250 from every student either. Those things are incredibly valuable to some though.
  18. At least you didn’t mention the Cardinals. I swear some posters love talking about the Cardinals more than Cardinals fans themselves.
  19. They came into the last weekend with a two game lead. If they blow it playing the Padres that is their own problem.
  20. Yup, won’t be getting an interview.
  21. Yah, only thing more comical is our former QB getting benched somewhere yet is still light years better than the guy we have to trot out.
  22. Oregon with one of the most impressive choke jobs I have ever watched. The amount of penalties and dumb things they did over the final two possessions of the game in regulation was hard to believe. I mean just wow. Fitting regulation ended on a free play with 00:00 on the clock for Stanford to tie it.
  23. Jack Coan is likely out as the Notre Dame QB. Can he transfer mid season and just start playing for us…
  24. If we just block people with less than 100 posts from commenting you solve 99% of the problem. How do they get to 100 posts then? I have already responded to a similar comment. A) It was a joke B) I was referring to this thread, not the entire board. I thought that would have been obvious, but I guess it was not. My bad
  25. The next time a quarterback is the answer for Badgers football will also be the first. Sad, but true
