  1. Cubs fans would get over it rather quickly if the player(s) they are getting in return become good everyday players for them. Majority of the Cubs fans will probably even forget about the player that was traded as they jump for joy over their shiny new toy(s). Yah, not sure that would be the case. Every Cubs fan knows Rizzo/Bryant and love them more than their own children. Also consider the fact who they get into return is not only likely to flame out…but really unlikely to be something super noteworthy in the future, those guys won’t get big returns as rentals. You think Cub fans will care if some pitcher turns into a #4 pitcher? No, nor will they even remember how they got that player. Imagine the Brewers trading Ryan Braun after a decade to the Cubs and then watching him hoist the trophy at Wrigley Field a few months later. Some marginal every day starter ain’t going to make that look good.
  2. I've never been able to actually determine if the 'not within the division' stuff is actually true or just the feeling of us fans. Rentals and not super impactful guys...I don't think either teams cares much. Players like Rizzo/Bryant I think they most certainly do care and if other offers are close they almost surely would ship them elsewhere. Now those players are rentals so it would be a bit different than if they were controllable, still, I don't think any team wants to help a division rival IF (IF) there are comparable offers. I think there is more willingness in baseball though just because one player doesn't exactly catapult the other teams chances...nor are rebuild as common in other sports. Usually if you are selling off big in baseball you will be down for a few years and that player will never negatively impact you when it matters. In the NBA and MLB they certainly avoid such trades. Rizzo would probably be the hardest to acquire. Long time Cub, hero of sorts being on the WS team, fan favorite, etc. If he came here and led us to a title that would look terrible for a guy they probably envision being a major component of their franchise after he retires. I think that is one guy they would definitely prefer to ship elsewhere.
  3. Their ball movement was just stupid good.
  4. So sad how many good looks they keep getting and just can’t make any.
  5. One heck of a dumb foul by Booker to might it a slight game for a second.
  6. The annoying part is their #2 and #3 are talented enough, but just don’t show up consistently enough. When I think of championship NBA teams I usually think of multiple guys who are pretty much assured to make your life miserable nightly. They sure should be consistent enough where Pat isn’t our second best offensive guy in a game. They simply have to be more consistent in this series.
  7. Everyone is hitting their shot for the Suns and we are over her praying our #2 and#3 guys could just hit a big shot or two. To be honest kind of impressive they are down just 8.
  8. Hopefully Middleton can go on a run at some point, I mean 4 points?? Jeez man. Middleton needs to give some perimeter life…or give us anything beyond the paint.
  9. Not sure what they talked about during halftime….but it isn’t translating positively in the 3rd right now.
  10. Yup man, cause that’s totally what I said…or even remotely close.
  11. I don’t know how you could watch this game and have that take about the Bucks. They are being outplayed, but lack of hunger??? Missing easy layups, missing put backs, not even bothering to run to the other side of the court to help each other. Not saying they look like a dead animal out there, but they sure don’t have the energy the Suns have.
  12. 1.5 games in and Bucks still don’t look like a team hungry and on a mission for a championship. The Suns on the other hand look like a prepared well oiled machine.
  13. Just leave Holiday in Phoenix after the game.
  14. *Insert 'Old Man Yells At Cloud' meme* I don't think Rob Manfred is as bad as people make him out to be. I think it has more to do with the attempt to improve a league that just really isn't a great of an entertainment product these days and the fact the players/owners are just trash at actually want to improve their league. It feels like Manfred is trying to control a bunch of cattle and get them back to the pasture 100 miles away. I don't think anyone is going to look good trying to run baseball.
  15. Not sure Tellez is a late bloomer. a .943 OPS at 23 sounds pretty good. Even a .742 OPS at 24 sounds pretty decent. .886 OPS at 25. He just really hasn't go much of a long term shot yet.
  16. Sorry, but a bit cringy when fans get mad that their player/team got caught cheating. It is like people crying over that runner getting banned because she couldn't stop from smoking pot before the Olympics. https://twitter.com/DailyUSANews/status/1413118207162871811
  17. Calling a game from a different stadium on a monitor can be tough sometimes.
  18. His career mark spread out over 4 seasons is .760...not that far from .800. Prior to his struggles this year it was well over .800. He has enough power that .800 doesn't seem super unreasonable. Not sure he will hit enough or walk enough to push that into the mid .800s though.
  19. The fact he was warming up in the bullpen, that's probably a good assumption. Because the Brewers have never used guys as decoys before? I’m pretty sure that the bullpen coach warmed up in the bullpen when Craig was a player on the team…. Then it should rather be, "Why is there an assumption Hader WOULD NOT have pitched last night?" I think that theory is the one highly unlikely and a big stretch because that simply never seems to happen. When they showed Hader warming up he was the only guy up and throwing. Not like two guys were up at that point preparing. I am not sure why it really matters though. I don't care if he pitched it or not...nor do I think it means what the poster is trying to infer.
  20. Everything about this team hints that they might just cruise to a division title. Well rounded team, elite pitching, hitting has looked miles better the last month, play great at home, play great on the road, play well against other good teams. We have the best pitching in the division by a mile and the second best offense behind the Reds. Going into the deadline it looks like we just need some fine tweaks and don't need to fill a bunch of black holes. I know, a long way to go.
  21. The fact he was warming up in the bullpen, that's probably a good assumption.
  22. Hader’s agent allows/requires this to get his save and arby $…… Source? There is none and it is complete garbage. For a team like the Brewers, with zero chance/willingness to resign Hader for FA money, why would they care to please him? If he pitches like this all the way to FA there is no way the Brewers pay him.
  23. First he drops his glove on the field and now he is on TV digging for gold. Not a good day.
  24. The way baseball is played these days, a rate of 1 strikeout per inning is relatively low for a relief pitcher. And a runner on second with nobody out is a situation in which a strikeout has much greater value than it does with the bases empty. So who was the obvious better option that strikes out way more people?
