  1. I mean steamers projects (and I’m not a projection lover) at like .840 OPS the next three years. Seems like he has potential to be a useful bat and there is a lot of reason to believe that outcome is highly probable.
  2. Giants jersey's are fine...definitely the second worst in front of the Boston. That being said a massive gap between the Giants and Boston one.
  3. I think he liked the potential for good production most. If control is what he likes most I will sign a lifetime contract today for minimum salary.
  4. I think his steamer projection is a pretty likely outcome. .248 average low .300s OBP and a OPS pushing .800. I wouldn't be overly shocked if he ends up similar to Eric Thames with less K's, but a lower OBP.
  5. The announcers were having an absolute fit over a Bucks player drawing a charge on Booker when he didn't have the ball anymore...how the NBA should stop making those calls again. First of all if the guy misses the three the fact our defender got hit like a mac truck under the basket is going to be a big deal trying to rebound the ball. More importantly though...how do you have a problem with the charge call, but not guys jumping into players with zero intention of actually trying to shoot the ball? Would also be nice if our guys could stop crying about no calls during plays. Pretty sure it was Lopez throwing a fit and was totally oblivious that the Bucks got the long rebound. If we was paying attention he could have blocked out his defender and whoever the rebounder was would have had an easy lay up. Instead it ended up contested and was a miss. I know it is kind of an NBA thing to do and the Bucks don't do it as much as some teams....but dang man, just shoot yourself in the foot why don't you.
  6. I don't know what you guys are talking about, he has wheels! https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/sporty-videos?playId=134e6bc4-71d1-4b19-b96e-e9873609d809 Also, he really isn't that fat...he is 6'4". He is basically a taller Mike Moustakas, similar speed to him too. People always begging for a giant target at 1B should rejoice.
  7. Those missed 2 footers definitely hurt them and changed the game quite a bit. Lopez missed one before that half and the ball went into the net for three points on the other side of the court. Instead of 51-57 it was 49-57. Between that and Jrue Holiday royally sucking that last two minutes of the half could have been real different. I still can't get over this sequence in the 1st Q: Portis missed 11-footer Lopez rebound Lopez missed tip shot Lopez rebound Lopez missed tip shot Middleton rebound Middleton missed lay up Lopez rebound Lopez missed tip shot In a matter of 15 seconds they got four offensive rebounds and missed 3 tip-ins and 1 lay up.
  8. Eric Lauer and Brett Anderson are the exact kind of guys Stearns would go acquire to get veteran depth to fill out a rotation down the stretch. I have to imagine starting rotation help is near the very bottom of things they will target. I can't imagine them spending the capital to upgrade one of those guys when said pitcher would be #4 in the rotation. That's a lot of capital to burn for a guy who wouldn't really see a start in the postseason. Their #4 and #5 guys are exactly what you want, guys that are fairly solid and give you a chance to win most days. They already have a rotation to win the division and get them to the postseason.
  9. Wasn't a bad game, but wasn't great either. Giannis played 35 minutes, which was nice to see...even looked pretty athletic out there. He should continue to be a stronger force as long aas he stays healthy. It was nice to see Middleton continue to say pretty hot, bench provided some decent play, and Lopez was fairly productive. The Suns may not have seen the Bucks 'best', but then again that is a pretty rare occurrence to happen in the playoffs. While the Bucks have a strong roster, consistency is not a strong point. Good thing it hasn't been for the Suns either. Looking at box scores Booker/Paul have been spotty themselves.
  10. I mean, why wouldn’t he? If he is healthy enough to be active you start the guy.
  11. I would be very surprised if much changed in the decision-making process when Stearns went from GM to President of Baseball Ops and Matt Arnold went from assistant GM to GM. It's a title bump to prevent other teams from poaching them, and recognition (And a salary bump) to Stearns/Arnold to reward them and to show that the team wants them to stay around. Matt Arnold is the operations guy. He does all the boring every day functional stuff while Stearns does player personnel decisions.
  12. I have always felt that Rosenthal talks to Stearns himself. He has broken info before, and I think he has a direct line. When he says anything about possibilities, I bet he is getting it straight from the horse's mouth. I mean it doesn't take a genius to know they will be looking for bullpen help at the deadline. They would have done that whether the bullpen looked great or not. Its always a hole on the roster. Ken Rosenthal has as many connections in baseball as anyone. David Stearns is most certainly not talking to him though...I think Stearns has better things to do than worry about helping a reporter break stories.
  13. They better send some cheeseburgers with him.
  14. For cash, that's about as close to worthless as it gets.
  15. Arent the reserves picked and not voted on? That's why I'm surprised Smith or Narvaez didnt get the backup catcher spot. Yes, but that's no different than fan voting. You just have less people voting, the more well known names usually have an advantage still. JT Realmuto has been a star for years, two AS appearances, two SS awards, a Top 15 MVP finish, and a gold glove award. While it is advertised as rewarding that years performance, it certainly wants to reward name recognition too.
  16. What are you basing the "easy choice" off of, out of curiosity. Freddy has been better in almost every stat category from old school stats to next gen stats. Wins, losses, ERA, Starts, CG, IP, SO, Opp Avg, R/9, WAR, R The only two things that Burns has done better are walks allowed and HR allowed. But even with his big lead in those two, they have an identical WHIP, and Freddy allows fewer runs per 9. Don't get me wrong, I think that Corbin is deserving, but I don't think he's clearly better than Freddy, especially as of late. Burnes is better in K/9, BB/9, HR/9, xERA, FIP, xFIP, and Fangraphs WAR by 1.4 wins. Burnes is closer to DeGrom than Peralta is to Burnes. Yup...and as someone else said he was a star last year too. Add in his well documented record at the start of the year and its a pretty easy choice. I think Peralta is close behind, but in that situation the guy with a better track record and media time is going to get the selection.
  17. The entire strike zone is under half the height of the wall. Not to mention he isn't hitting doubles either so I think it is more than that. I have seen exponentially more golf swing HRs than HRs where they swing over their head. Actually, not sure I have ever seen that.
  18. Yelich 2021 wRC+: 123 Yelich MIA wRC+: 122 He's had 99 PAs at AmFam so far this year. Small samples produce seemingly weird results. I was simply referring to his actual stats being lesser (though not by much) than they were in Miami. His slugging percentage is way down this year, 2020 was more in line with what he did in Miami. I mean if Yelich wasn't walking like Barry Bonds he would be the LF version of Orlando Arcia. On another note I think there are a lot of reasons for his downfall. He is indeed losing the shift game. I also see that he is chasing way less. 26% in his MVP caliber seasons, but only 17% the last two years. He is also swinging at the first pitch way less (nearly 30% to now less than 20%) and also swinging less in general (45% to now about 38%). I like walks, but is Yelich becoming too 'unaggresive' at the plate? Doesn't help he is whiffing way more when he does swing, thus leading to a lot more K's. Additionally, he has only managed one opposite field homer.
  19. We shall see how well they defend Paul/Booker. Each has had their moments, but both have been a bit disappointing in the grand scheme in the playoffs. If they can limit those guys from going off I think they are in a good position to win the series.
  20. Was hoping Hiura would magically become somewhat competent at the plate, but hardly surprising. Always seemed like a coincidental hot streak when he got called up versus something that would last. That being said, lets see what the next few weeks brings. As far as Yelich, sigh. People can sugar coat it all they want, but Yelich with an .800 OPS is just not good. 7 doubles and 5 homers is not good. He is worse than his Miami days at this point. If his stat line was like 2016, I would just shrug my shoulders...but its not that good. Weirdest of all dude is hitting for a .729 OPS at Miller Park....what the heck? His career OPS at Miller Park is over 1.000, even in 2020 it was over .900.
  21. There were many plans to made a head-on attack a logical idea. They were suppose to bomb it prior, but the planes missed terribly and did nothing. There were also supposed to be quite a few tanks going in first to clear out to some extent while also providing cover. However, nearly all of them couldn’t get to the beach. It’s amazing so few died considering the above failures left them without much of the cover they were banking on. The bombs were intended to, hopefully, give some cover via the craters they left. But when the bombs missed by miles that didn’t do much good.
  22. It's my 100% non-professional opinion that he's afraid of injury. Either he's afraid of smashing a ball off his knee again or his back is still causing him trouble and he's had to adjust his swing because of it. I’m not buying that excuse, just not buying it. Did pitchers finally figure him out, did them deadening the ball aid to it? Whatever it is, I refuse to believe Yelich is scared of fouling a ball off his knee. He has swung thousands of times since…no way he had to drive to become an MVP and then crumble because he is scared of a ball he saw tens of thousands of times before.
  23. Context would be the fact these schools probably take athletics (and have more talent) than any typical HS would. Usually creates a clown show when it comes to player celebration, showboating, parents, etc. Heck, even my small town had a LeBron type dad who hyped their kid up way too much and almost wanted to be the center of attention. As far as “who cares?”…idk, I really don’t. That being said LeBron shoves his opinion about every detail of life down people’s throats whether they want it or not so I don’t care if people want to put him on blast for anything he does.
  24. Burnes > Peralta…easy choice. I think Peralta is still somewhat likely to go as a replacement though. We shall see. Realmuto isn’t really a head-scratcher. You could argue Smith/Narvaez were more deserving…but, name recognition. His offense isn’t that far behind them and he is regarded for having really good defense. That being said it can’t be often a .300 BA at catcher doesn’t make it to the AS game.
  25. There is absolutely nothing appropriate or acceptable about yelling across the gym at a HS basketball game because of the PA announcer….and then approaching the PA announcer to argue. Especially while the game is going on and you make play stop. Should the PA announcer be making such comments? No, but LeBron’s reaction was brutal. I can’t even imagine trying to the a ref, coach, floor mopper at that place with LeBron around. As far as his other over the top stuff…meh, I guess it isn’t the first time I’ve seen it in youth sports. Probably should stay off the court, but hey, that’s what being famous and having the gym named after you gets you.
