  1. Starting to do better though? The two starts prior were terrible. Starting to do well, in my opinion, would be multiple starts. Not one appearance.
  2. If we get eliminated in the second to last series we are 4+ games out..so I guess that wouldn't really be much hurt.
  3. They will definitely add some guys to mop up the meaningless innings when we are down big. I would like to see him get the opportunity personally.
  4. Welcome to sports, sigh.
  5. It is probably a good time for everyone to step back and look at how their posting effects the board. Even moderators can get questionable at times in my opinion (sarcastic jabs and other non-direct light attacks). I'm not perfect, I have a post out of line here and there...it happens. Anyone who posts regularly on this site has a questionable post here and there. I hope there can be a crackdown on the negativity around here. If I want that I will go outside or turn on the news. I get it from time to time (especially the IGT), but my gosh some of you sound like you need to see a sports fan therapist or something. No reason to post daily about how the Brewers "always fade" etc. and ruin the moods of others.
  6. I don't recall saying he is a lost cause? Id certainly send him to the bullpen, but I am not really looking to hand him a rotation spot. If Guerra struggles a few more times...maybe then.
  7. And his last two starts prior were trash and 3/4 were trash. So he thinks he is rounding into form after one start that he probably didn't watch? Was he rounding into form on the 6th too? A quick (quick) glance and it appears he faced a lot of not so great AA hitters last night. Just jumping the gun a bit there in my opinion. A blind squirrel will find a nut occasionally.
  8. I think you are putting words into a lot of posters' mouths here. No one is saying that the 2017 version of Zach Davies is undoubtedly back. What I personally am advocating for, though, is giving a guy that was pretty terrific last year a couple starts at the MLB level to see if he could be a rotation asset down the stretch. But you go into it cautiously. You have the pen ready to roll, and if Davies starts getting smacked around, you pull him, and shut him down for the year. No I am not. Briggs said "as evidence by his Biloxi start"
  9. So what about all the terrible starts this year at the MLB level and all the other terrible starts at the MiLB. But yah...lets just take the last result against AA competition as proof he can get elite MLB hitters out. Could very well have been injury related all along, something he was trying to battle through. He just put together a solid season last year, so it's not impossible to believe he can do that again if he's right. Didn't say he couldn't. However pointing to one outing at AA (that I am sure Briggs or 95% of this forum didn't watch) and saying Davies is back seems like a bit of an overreaction. He constantly was terrible at the MLB level and even in the minors...one start and we should throw him in the rotation.
  10. So what about all the terrible starts this year at the MLB level and all the other terrible starts at the MiLB. But yah...lets just take the last result against AA competition as proof he can get elite MLB hitters out.
  11. No, they would not. They won't fall nearly far enough to give up.
  12. We don’t seem to mind tossing Peralta out there or sticking Hader and Burnes in the pen. I hope Woodruff works out but there might be a reason he’s not getting his opportunity this season considering he’s older than those three. There has to be some reason. They obviously don't even view him as much of a MLB pitcher...let alone a starter. He can't even find his way into the pen. Sure won't get any better of a chance next year in the rotation.
  13. Yah, I am a bit disappointed he didn't demand us lose a few games so we could start claiming these players before other teams.
  14. Stearns stated they have no innings limit on Peralta. However, that doesn't mean Peralta won't just get gassed here soon and turn into a noodle arm BP pitcher.
  15. Who are you giving the boot for Davies? He now has 18 starts this year MLB/MiLB and has been brutal both places. Why does he even deserve a shot at the rotation at this point? Guerra has been bad, but wasn't bad his last time out. I guess if he bombs a few more times maybe you make a move there.
  16. If Davies is truly 100% healthy, I'd take the 2017 version of Zach Davies over anyone currently in the Brewers' rotation. We're talking about a nearly 3 WAR starting pitcher who won 17 games with a 3.9 ERA last year. So would I....but is that really likely. Peralta didn't implode his last start so he won't get an opportunity there.
  17. Yah I think they like making it an afternoon weekday game. People show up anyway.
  18. They will just option him and then bring him back up in Spetember. It effects nothing to do it that way.
  19. Why, they just swept another wild card contender? All that and they only sit one game over us. Not necessarily a bad time to scoreboard watch. It wouldn’t really be a bad thing if the Cardinals ran away with the first spot and beat to crud out of the other WC contenders (outside of us). I hope they murder the Rockies for three games and we can win 2/3 of our series (or better).
  20. Only the Brewers would have their pitcher hit with bases loaded and no outs.
  21. Sweet two pitches. That will go down as him essentially not even pitching I would think.
  22. Haha I was really hoping Williams would get a chance against Scooter after he was pulled yesterday and Jennings blew it. Would look absolutely terrible for Counsell.
  23. He pitched 3 innings in two days prior to yesterday...not at all shocking. It is mid-August, not mid-September. Too early to kill the pen. Freddy Peralta just pitched 7 innings in 2 hours. I don't think it would kill him. And if he is worried about burning the pen today was the perfect day to leave Peralta in to start the 8th. It isn't the same. That's how it has been all year and how it happens across baseball.
