  1. I've had the same issue over and over. A lot of times the video will freeze but I'll still be hearing the announcers and will have to refresh. Normally any streaming I do over my connection is close to perfect. It’s a Facebook issue. I’m sure this is something that can be improved long term. I never really have problems with Fox Sports Go, but Facebook is frustrating often times. I’m guessing the investment to improve such a thing isn’t there yet as they continue to test the Facebook thing out.
  2. Well, I'm trying to be factual and paint a broader picture of the possible outcomes given the countless number of variables. That's the alternative to simply declaring the Brewers front office got lucky like you did. Well I won’t argue, cause I didn’t say that. I was also painting a broader picture and typically do so when posting here. So think you saw “got lucky” and ran with that. Cause my post said way more than that and I said in a way...not “we got lucky”. There was the notion Stearns and the Brewers in general were smart to avoid these guys. In reality, relative to their current performance (why this thread is based off of), we probably offered a bad contract to more than just one of the players listed. So saying, “Stearns and Co. know what the hell they are doing” because none of these guys signed here is somewhat of a stretch. If we offered Lynn $8mil for this year and another team outbid is at $9mil do we really know whatcha the hell we are doing (just an example)? I’m also well aware of performance varying by where you are. I have banged that drum many many times over the years.
  3. Oh, alright. Sorry I said anything that didn’t keep going with the Stearns and Co. are geniuses train. Way to pull the “what if” game to discount what I said. I could have done that to if I wanted. Going by that rationale why even talk about the topic. We will never know if Alex Cobb would have had a sub 3 ERA here. All I was saying is even the contracts we were offering were likely terrible ideas because most of these guys have been complete garbage. Yes, we did indeed not value these guys very highly, rightfully so...but even us were probably willing to throw quite a few millions at some of these guys. In my opinion a bit of an outlier year for pretty much the entire class of notable starters to flame out and struggle. Usually a few of that higher contract pitchers (that we typically chase) do fine...not so much this year.
  4. Briggs doesn’t like it because it isn’t what he wants and it has to be his way. Rebuilding isn’t an option because he is old and every year can be special. Briggs doesn’t care about the young generations. To him he would rather them just cater to him and when his generation dies off baseball can just fizzle out of existence. So really I see no arguing with him because it will be just like his thoughts on rebuilding. You aren’t going to get through to him and change his mind. Let me tell you about how Scooter Gennett and Khris Davis are doing though.
  5. To be fair we definitely offered contracts to many of these guys and probably a ton to Darvish/Arrieta. So in a way we are lucky we got outbid. Obviously we ended up not looking for rotation upgrades as hard as it was made out to be. Which turned out to be a pretty good thing. Even the money we were offering these guys would have been a disaster so far.
  6. 1) 99% sure you don’t need an account 2) Even if you do just make an account. You can make it as fake and private as you want. 3) Anything with a Facebook app can get it on your TV. Apple TV...definitely can get it on your TV. You may need an account on the apps though. 4) Is it really that big of a deal to your MLB extra innings if a game is on Facebook? You still get it? Man no one is saying you gotta make an account add your mother and all your high school friends.
  7. As someone who has cable and in the Brewers market I hate it so much. The delay can be and usually is pretty bad. I get the notifications for scoring etc. well before it happens on Facebook. The lag and pausing can be just awful. You have to refresh or it will just make the delay even worse. That has to improve. I actually like the broadcast itself. Good announcers and the interviews are cool a lot of times. Though at times a little to excessive. Why doesn’t FSWI ever do in game interviews? Not allowed?
  8. Cardinals are already treading water in the central. The Cubs are a good team and it looks like the Brewers are really good too. The Cardinals aren’t going to get the wins it will take barring some big time moves at the deadline. A lot of national writers are calling for just that, but I’m not so convinced they will do it. That’s a really bold prediction that the wild card race will come down to the three 2nd place finishers. I’d ask for how you got to that conclusion, but I don’t know if I could handle it. We don’t NEED to win any specific series. I never get that talk. It isn’t even an important series. No series is more important than another. Yeah, you are doing yourself favors doing well against good teams, but it doesn’t count anymore than any other win. I mean what happens if we get swept? Pack up the bags for the year?
  9. Whatever your position on marijuana the fact this is tested for and affects people’s work (outside of driving, machinery and/or other situations that could be dangerous) is kind of insane. Like why is this tested for? For what purpose does the NFL find this as an issue? That being said you can’t fix stupid. If you know you get tested for it and decide to do it anyway here are the punishments. Stupid people losing thousands of dollars in just two short weeks. This is why these football players are broke in a couple years.
  10. I really feel if he can stay healthy (that is indeed an if), Donaldson would have a very good second half and stretch run if he were with a contender. If that is the case, why not with us! He could be a real bargain compared to Machado as a left side of the infield rental. Still who knows what it would cost. If other teams believe in a rebound the bidding could go north of what the draft pick is worth.
  11. Alright Josh Donaldson isn’t as bad as you guys make him out to be. He was one of the best players in the game the last half decade. Sure his stats are down this year, but he is still a solid player with a ceiling much higher than he is showing right now. It is going to cost something decent or the Blue Jays will just hold him. You’d have to offer close to what the draft pick is worth if he declines a QO. At this point you probably don’t offer him the QO, but any kind of turnaround to warm up his FA market it is a no brainer. I don’t buy the “not motivated” garbage. The dude had 5 elite seasons prior to this one and is about to hit FA. Even at 32 he still would be licking his chops for $50mil+. Heck probably Cain money. If that doesn’t motivate you not sure what does.
  12. Haha wow the great fall of Ryan Braun. A bat 3x as long would have missed that pitch. Get him an eye doctor appointment real quick.
  13. Heck we already made a nice upgrade to the offense in Brad Miller. If we were healthy this offense would be pretty nice. Not having Cain, Yelich, and Braun is bad. That’s the real problem right now and that is before we consider the possibility of Shaw struggling due to injury. We have a solid core on offense and could use an upgrade to the infield. I think the Brewers might be looking for the best deal and figure out where everyone will play afterwards. That’s what I get from trying Shaw at 2nd and Aguilar at 3B.
  14. Orf can play there adequately. Saladino could as well. They have Dylan Moore in AAA as well. That’s not just a bit of a scary thought...it’s terrifing. Yikes.
  15. Domingo Santana could be more like his 2016 self and be okay. An .800 OPS...ASSUMING...his defensive improvements are sustainable in the long run is decent. It isn’t crazy by any means, but certainly starter quality. He will find his power stroke again, patience. I doubt he just fell of the earth when it comes to his power. If I recall a lot of his power came to the opposite field. If he doesn’t have that strong opposite field stroke his power likely is going to take quite a hit.
  16. That’s why it made even less sense to me. Arcia is gone and I don’t expect him back until September or at the very least don’t expect the Brewers to bring him back very soon. So now we sport Villar/Miller/Perez/Sogard up the middle. Saladino will return, but he isn’t a gold glove guy by any means. So what do we have now? Average defense at best on any given day? Shaw/Aguilar both leave a lot to be desired defensively with little range.
  17. I don’t get the fascination with Stroman now or before. - Average K rate his entire career - Over 9.0 H/9 for three years in a row - 1.300+ WHIP last 3 years - Gives up some HRs - Walking a lot this year - FIP has never been that special Guy generates a lot of excitement over one low ERA season. Is his age just pumping up the value that much? The stats have never really screamed a ton of excitement. His ERA last year seems about as reliable as Chase Anderson’s was. Not sure we can afford to add a raging dumpster fire pitcher to our rotation anyway. We are trying to compete and trying to right the ship in July could lead to a lot of losses and never turning it around this year.
  18. Of course he can. Aguilar played 3B and the world didn't come to an end. Thames plays in the OF, Miller plays SS, I can go on and on. Aguilar played 7.1 innings, not sure how that is comparable. It isn’t hard to hide someone in the OF and have them be...good enough. Eric Thames is awful out there though and it only should be done in an absolute emergency for the offense. Jonathan Villar has hit LHP well this year and in 2016, but is that really worth defense that sports a fielding % far below .900? I don’t even know why you’d bring this up. They wouldn’t put him at SS when Arcia was hitting like a pitcher, no way in a million years will he see time at 3B. Your examples aren’t even remotely close to comparable. All they do is prove how much worse Villar is at 3B than what are already considered tragic liabilities at their respective positions.
  19. Villar cannot play 3B...that was a terrible experiment when it happened.
  20. No, not another *homer robbery* that probably wasn’t actually a homer. Schroeder at it again. Great catch regardless though. It wasn’t a myth. He constantly made terrible plays when his defense was being criticized that way.
  21. Addition by subtraction... Hmm, no.
  22. Gag, no thanks.
  23. Market value for deGrom isn’t just $25mil a year or so. Market value would likely be well over $100mil. Let me know when we can sign a deGrom for $25mil a year for 2.5 years. You aren’t getting a guy like deGrom in FA at his current price and lack of lengthy control spanning into his retirement. Even at a bigger price tag he is still a massive bargain compared to getting someone in FA because we don’t have to be tied to him until he is 35+.
  24. Orlando Arcia is worse this year than.... 2011 slugging SS...Yuniesky Betancourt.
