  1. Probably did honestly. I can't remember who, but shortly after the Braun suspension someone did use his lawyer. I am sure he gets a lot of business after that successful appeal.
  2. Loosening up is great and all...except they usually don’t have legit prescriptions for this stuff when they get it. Likely wouldn’t get it prescribed even if it wasn’t against MLB rules. A lot of this stuff is illegal to be prescribed unless you have a really good reason. There are many products legal for them to use for healing etc. a line was drawn and players are crossing over it. Let’s not act like they don’t have access to good substances to use.
  3. All this talk and Gennett was still only a 2.4 WAR player last year. Which tells me he isn’t even that special anyway because of defense. He was a nice player, but he didn’t make sense for us and there was zero logical argument at the time to keep him over Villar. Didn’t work out for us, darn. Sometimes players go elsewhere and magically break out...we got lucky with one in Shaw. You win some...and you lose some.
  4. Yah, he would have had plenty of time to retreat 5 feet back to 3B when the throw made it to home.
  5. Fiers never threw fast. All I was comparing was early results being a little better than they probably should.
  6. If it's hard to pick up the ball off him, it will always be hard. That's not the type of thing batters where hitters adapt. But I do agree he struggles with location at times. He does have a good change, just had no reason to use it in Colorado, he knows better than that. He is different though, the way he hides it...and the way he looks in general. That will throw batters off, it was similar with Mike Fiers. Who after a nice Cy Young run to start his career ended up mostly average (not saying he will end up like Fiers). I’m just saying I could see a similar hype train ending in a lot of dissapointment. Though his lack of command might be problematic from the get go. I could see nice success in our bullpen heavy pitching staff.
  7. I’m not really that convinced on Freddy Peralta. I don’t care about his early success one bit. He has the perfect make-up to have incredible rookie success and then take massive steps back once the league gets used to him. His control is pretty questionable and throwing that much down the middle of the plate seems destined to not work. Without an improvement in control he probably will have a shaky time in a rotation. Very intriguing guy none the less. Should be fun to see what he can do.
  8. Wouldn’t really shock me. The talent is still there. Maybe he is just destined to never figure it out here, much like Segura.
  9. There is quite literally no reason Villar should not be playing vs. a righty. Perez should be hiting when a lefty pitches. That is what their platoon splits warrant if that is what the Brewers want to do. Honestly I think Villar should play every day...but how he isn’t in vs. a righty seems questionable.
  10. How do we KNOW what Villar is? Just curious? One good year and then a bad one is all you need? Automatically the bad year forever? So if Arcia continues to struggle all year do we then know for sure he sucks? I mean I thought for sure Jean Segura was a one year wonder (half year really) and that appeared to be wrong and he sucked way longer. How quick we want to write players off.
  11. Villar can play SS nearly the same way Braun "can" play 3B Awful comparison. Villar can competently play SS...not well, but lightyears better than Braun at 3B. If his bat was 2016 version scouts didn’t have much issue with Villar at SS.
  12. I know we are desperate for better hitting, but Nate Orf? Come on guys. He didn’t hit till getting to Colorado. Heck he is 28 I’d expect him to hit anywhere in AAA. The only other place he put up really good stats was as a 23 year old in rookie ball. Players like him and half our filler in AAA puts up MVP numbers. You are kidding yourself if you think he can hit better than current options. The odds are stupidly low. He is MiLB roster filler.
  13. I’ve gone to 4 games this year including today. They have been shut out in 3/4 and scored 8 in the other game. I’m not usually pessimistic....but....
  14. I mean 4 WAR...pretty darn good I would say. We all probably have a different definition for the word though.
  15. What talent though? His prospect ranking exploded because of the small possibility his bat would be something after one good year. He then proceeded to be "meh" in Colorado's hitter haven. He was young, I know. He essentially lives off one great year in AA. The way he is swinging the bat on a daily basis is quite sad. Either someone needs to fix the way he bats or we need to sop treating him like he is something special. He looks terrible at the plate, the mechanics don't make sense, and he produces. No amoun of ABs are going to make him better unless he sees a massive overhaul on multiple fronts. Jonathan Villar had phenominal 24/25 year old seasons, but for some reason he is 100% 2017 Villar and no chance to be good again to the majority of people on this board. I just don't get how one can be so positive about Arcia, but Villar is assured to be trash. Both are young players with talent.
  16. Short term, yup! Wouldn't even hesitate. He would still play a lot between SS/2B where it wouldn't effect his developement at all. Of course 2B production is so bad too I doubt we would fix two black holes up the middle at once. He has been the 14th worst offensive player this year...out of 220 players with 90+ PA. That's not just bad. Comparing him to Yount is interesting to say the least, especially considering Yount entered the league at 18 years old. I guess A. Escobar will start mashing any second now. Age as an easy out answer...weird it doesn't work for 27 year old Villar though. Throwing him out there everyday when he resembles a pitcher at the plate is doing nothing positive I can tell you that. Would I be starting Sogard/Perez over him...uhh no. I would not complain if they upgraded him to help the offense etc. though. SHORT TERM
  17. I find it interesting everyone is incredibly concerned with our terrible offense from Villar, but no one mentions the almost twice as bad offense Arcia is giving us. Yes, Arcia plays great defense...it is not making up for his awful offense. Both rank terribly at their position (Arcia slightly worse by 4 or so players). If we are actually trying to improve the team to compete this year I wouldn't even flinch grabbing a rental/short term player to start at SS. No need to let a complete black hole keep the job. It is kind of unbelievable that people give Arcia a free pass.
  18. I mean Bandy caught 17% of base stealers last year...so it isn’t like he is an assured whiz behind the plate.
  19. I thought trying to get Patrick Corbin was a bad move. You just never know. I wasn’t really a fan of it either. Just throwing it out there because this thread is very biased towards the bad moves we failed to do, but no mention of the good moves we failed to do. There are a million rumors an off-season though. We are going to be connected to ones that would have been really bad and others that would have been really good. Nature of the beast.
  20. Worse is the people who agree to sell or you show interest just for them to go into the dark. Probably finding some better offer or get cold feet.
