  1. Another nice start and I keep Peralta until he falls apart. The ceiling with Suter is so low. It won’t take much for Peralta to top that. If he struggles 3-5 times in a row with maybe on one good start in there then yah maybe let Suter pitch.
  2. Jesus Aguilar is what he is...similar to last years season stats. He isn’t replacement level, but he really isn’t a great starter either. His BABIP is stupidly high. Put that at a normal level and his offensive stats are somewhat above average. His walk rate is up slightly (hard to calculate such a small increase in a small sample size), but his K rate is down quite a bit. We will see where those go over the course of a season, but it is a good sign. There is some signs he could improve a little on last year, but not dramatically. Yeah I think he could be a quality MLB hitter, but he plays a position where that isn’t a big accomplishment and his defense is pretty iffy.
  3. You might want to read Jeff Sullivan's chat on Fangraphs from yesterday. Quoting Sullivan "I think there are teams in the major leagues with worse starting first basemen than Ji Man Choi....all he's ever done is abuse Triple A, with a whole lot of walks. He's legit" He went on to say that it speaks to the organizational depth that the Brewers can DL Braun and replace him with Choi. By the way, happy 27th birthday Ji-Man! Oh Sullivan said it...herd up the sheep we must all think the same way. Listen to the blogger who is citing AAA numbers like there isn’t an endless list of AAAA type players.
  4. It wasn’t that good of a throw overall. I’d rather have a slower throw on line than having my catcher chase it and run back. He was far enough from being safe he didn’t even attempt an evasive slide. It wasn’t very close. Like usual after rounding third all I could think was “not even going to be close” and shocking...it wasn’t.
  5. I’m convinced Ed Sedar is an idiot...I really am. There is aggressive...and then there is borderline stupid. He is closer the the later.
  6. Villar should be in there every single day, never a question.
  7. Towards the end when someone swoops in who didn’t even watch the game comes to complain.
  8. That was a fairly hard play for him too. Brian Anderson kept saying he could have set himself, but I’m not so sure. At least set himself and still have time.
  9. Nope! This is one of the better IGTs so far actually. Free and easy casual conversation, no confrontation, and game discussion. Usually Page 1 and 2 are for talking about how dumb the lineup is and by this page we're just talking about how much we suck. Villar, Suter, and Arcia all playing well....I mean what more can one ask for?
  10. You cannot release Hernan Perez if you plan on carrying 3 1B.
  11. Why didn’t we DH for Arcia? Suter’s career OPS is higher than Arcia’s OPS this year. On another note I’d love to see Villar find success...that speed is so great to have in the line up. Infield hits galore even when not hitting too well.
  12. Things that aren’t happening: 1) Acquiring Beltre to be on our bench. Doesn’t need much explaining. 2) Joey Gallo as a bench bat once we get him on a bargain in a trade. The Rangers will drive that talent into its grave before they dump him at 24 years old. He still managed a 3 WAR last year...not too shabby.
  13. Corey Ray should project just fine in RF. He should have the power to be a prototypical guy at the corner spot. Not like he is a 10 homer guy. If he hits enough to tap into his power it will come. If the power doesn’t come then you won’t have to worry about him even using an MLB roster spot. He seems like prime trade bait to fill a hole with a proven guy in the future though.
  14. Over a 162 game schedule he is on pace for nearly a 30/30 season, #7 in SLG %, tied for #11 in steals, #3 in doubles, #2 in HRs, #1 in total bases, and a Top 15 OPS in the southern league. Yup...really unimpressive stats. He has extremely impressive stats (Top 15 easily) and plays a premium position. All this and he may be just tapping into his potential.
  15. This situation really shows the hole in the testing system. Cano was connected to Biogenesis through his assistant. He has probably been doing the stuff forever and took this long to screw it up. Even after nearly getting caught up in Biogenesis he still didn’t stop. A guy like Ryan Braun could still easily do them if he is confident enough in the masking agent.
  16. You can have your own opinion, but it seems the entire “group” isn’t with you. It’s also probably not going to go well when we use one of the most popular forums and post a discussion about the sideline reporter that has zero effect on just about everything. These kind of threads are probably better off in the off topic area where we talk about other silly pointless things. When you post something (let’s be honest) pretty pointless in the MLB forum you are going to get way more feedback than it probably deserves.
  17. Changing the length of Braun’s bat or where he stands in the box will do absolutely nothing. All you will do is transfer the problem to something else. Stand closer to get the outside pitch? Time to get busted inside (something Braun struggles with already). Shorten the bat? Time to strikeout on even more outside pitches.
  18. We have a thread on Brian Anderson being bad....clearly no one is safe.
  19. What does she say? 100 words a game? Come on guys...really.
  20. [sarcasm]It's little nuggets like these you wish the broadcast team would at least mention once.[/sarcasm] I get mentioning it once a game because not everyone sits here and watches 100+ games...but good lord. They mention it every inning when a ball gets close to the warning track. Yesterday they literally said, "Before the humidor that is probably to the warning track." Come on....lol
  21. This ump kinda sucks. Villar would have a solid OBP if he would stop getting hosed with three balls.
