  1. Anyone a little disappointed they are labeling Knebel the closer? Was hoping they would just let Jeffress/Hader/Knebel pitch whenever necessary and whenever it makes sense. Why save Knebel all week for one inning? We have the arms to let multiple guys have that all important inning. Just always make sure one can pitch the next day.
  2. This idea sounds nice in theory, but in practice there are a ton of problems. Teams already overwork their bullpens as it is. What if you do this, the starter bombs, and then you have to use even more relievers. What about burning your prized relievers only to have your starter just absolutely suck (Hi Suter)? There is so much opportunity for wasted bullpen I just cannot imagine this over an entire season. I really can’t. It’s a cool idea and I applaud the outside the box thinking.
  3. He needs to refind his power. Last year is close to the bare minimum I would expect offensively and still consider him a good starter. Fangraphs rated him out as the #17 SS of 22 that qualified. So he is middle of the pack last year hitting averageish. His defense is great, but below average offense just makes him an okay starter. Though somehow Arcia rated out #21 last year according to Fangraphs on defense...that...I don't know if I agree with.
  4. He would make it if he made it to July with mind boggling stats. I don't see that happening however.
  5. Especially a Tier 3 reliever. Not like he is Alroldis Chapman taking some out of the ordinary deal.
  6. Hader...Jeffress...Knebel. That is a winning formula if they can make the postseason.
  7. And let him get hurt? No. PH everytime you can. Anderson, Nelson, Guerra. All batting/running. No thank you. Let them just stand there and take the strikeout. My reasoning is that the PH being used is essentially worthless...so I guess using the pitcher let him stand at the back of the batter box for all I care.
  8. Lorenzo Cain’s homerun was a 109mph rocket he sent 418 feet. Flirted with clearing the Goodwill section in LF.
  9. I have no way to back this up, but PHing for your pitcher with two outs and no one on seems like a wasted resource. I know the pitcher is done, but sometimes I wonder if it would be better to just let your pitcher hit and save the PHer for some other time. Maybe save him for a match up later in the game or something or with men on base? I wonder sometimes.
  10. If not for our trade for an outfielder and signing of one (our biggest strength before them supposedly) our outfield would involve Domingo Santana, Brett Phillips, and Lewis Brinson. Ouch
  11. That sounded like a bomb and looked like a bomb before they ever took the camera off Cain. It was indeed a bomb. Wow
  12. The contract always seemed fair to me. If he pitches well he locks up almost $10mil. He has never really pitched well elsewhere for an extended amount of time. The last time he left he got caught up in non baseball issues. Who knows what would have happened if he went elsewhere this year. Could have continued a downward slope out of baseball. I think he made the right decision financially and personally for the long term by returning to Milwaukee. I get the MLBPA wants players always chasing the top dollar, but there can be good reasons to not.
  13. I love the gray jersey, but on TV it looks way too dark. The gray pants that match are terrible.
  14. 1) Cain 2) Yelich 3) Realmuto 4) Machado 5) Shaw 6) Aguilar/Thames 7) Santana/Braun 8) Villar 9) 2018 World Series Champions
  15. Boone Logan has pitched two innings people...breath. That’s like demanding to release a starter after one start. You gotta give him time. I mean at least 10 appearances at the very least to not sound completely reactionary.
  16. Wonder if there is a Jarry Hairston Jr. type guy to acquire this deadline if Arcia continues to stink up the joint? Cheap guy who can give us offense for a few months.
  17. Orlando Arcia has found a way to consistently suck more and more every passing day. His OPS is approaching .500. Sucks Dubon got hurt. A couple more weeks and I would have given him a shot at the starting gig. This is just getting ridiculous. At this point there should be no concern about Villar as it stands. That could change, but he is fine right now.
  18. I’d trade for him. If the bullpen continues to be lights out, Jimmy Nelson returns without missing a beat, Anderson returns to dominant form, and Chacin also continues to pitch to a mid rotation level. Then maybe I could see an all-in type trade. We would then have a solid World Series contender. Three really good starters (maybe a fourth one pitching well) with this bullpen could win a lot of games. Right now we are riding a bullpen that is not even remotely close to sustainable in my opinion. Once/If that reverts to a normal level this team screams .500.
  19. At this rate he would have to be an ace to be better as a starter. He currently ranks #16 of all pitchers in baseball in fWAR. Now I don't know if he has been that valuable, but it shows he is having a TOR impact in a bullpen role.
  20. Your best bet is if Yelich is around long enough the other person forgets. Yelich is stellar, but I seriously doubt he ever puts up the stats to win an MVP award offensively.
  21. His ERA+ is 1067. 100 is considered average.
  22. Go for it, doesn’t mean everyone else has to.
  23. Theo won a World Series on the back of a rental bullpen arm...total BS saying he won’t go big on a rental anymore.
