  1. Or maybe not.. We do, but he may be working himself out of late inning situations.
  2. Real Answer: Score more runs and then just not care who pitches.
  3. I go Knebel to be honest. We have to trust Knebel and that allows us all three fresh going into the start of the week.
  4. No way Braun should be ahead of Santana. I will take the historical numbers for Braun vs. LHP. Both are pretty interchangeable in the grand scheme. Santana has greatly struggled versus LHP this year...though not sure that really is something I’d expect in the long term. I’m not fan of Braun at all...but vs. LHP I will take my chances.
  5. Starting pitching is the biggest need in my opinion, followed by SS/2B (likely a super utility guy), C (likely backup), and then relief pitching (good value snag more).
  6. Jeffress sitting at 4x the 293 ERA+ record
  7. I am so sick of Sogard hitting foul ball bombs. For someone so experienced and patient at the plate to get walks he just can’t wait back long enough to hit a homer.
  8. With Santana playing better we are going to finally that mega logjam we were worried about when Thames comes back...it appears. Santana is probably the odd man out. LHP: Aguilar/Braun RHP: Aguilar/Thames (Thames/Santana also could be popular) Both scenarios shift Yelich to RF with Santana having nowhere to play. I would play Thames in LF for RHP no problem when he OPS 1.000 against them. Of course if Aguilar comes back down to earth he probably doesn’t start vs. LHP making things easier.
  9. Santana didn’t line out. He got jammed and floated it to the SS. Villar saw some pitches, but just got blown away by the fastball.
  10. FWIW: Fangrpahs has Realmuto as the #2 catcher in the game and Salvador Perez #9. Pina is #24.
  11. I’ve thought about that idea before...but it just seems like a lot of work for little “hypothetical” improvement. Hader destroys everyone just pitch him against the righties then the lefties again. I just see little gain from the effort. You likely take out a good OFer to put the pitcher out there, then waste a PH to get him out, then use a PH whenever the pitcher spot comes up. No thanks in my opinion. Only way I could see it is if you had a really elite lefty who sucks against righties and your righties are pretty terrible getting lefties out. Even then...ehh.
  12. The Cardinals have Alex Reyes returning to the mound this week (against us). That’s a huge gain for them. In his rehab tour he absolutely destroyed everything and anything.
  13. This is probably the most overrated Brewers farm I have seen since following the team. Even Hiura is nowhere near a cant miss prospect. After that you have a ton of nice, but not great prospects. A lot of the better guys are really struggling this year. I see a lot of guys who I can be pretty confident will make the majors someday...but the impact they will have is highly questionable. Do I really want to trade 3-4 guys to nab Machado? Not really, but if we are a top team in the MLB I sure won’t blame Stearns for doing it.
  14. Jonathan Villar is a high BAbip player. No, he can never sustain a high BAbip. That being said he will have many months where he will sport a high BAbip because that’s the kind of player he is. -Last 4 months he has averaged over a .400 BAbip -He has eclipsed a .375 BAbip in 8 months since we acquired him -That means 8/14 (57%) of the time he has carried a ridiculous BAbip...more often than not. Yes, he is going through one of those high BAbip times and isn’t really lighting the world on fire. He has also looked much better as of late. It’s too early to know how useful Villar will be this year. Discounting him because of a high BAbip isn’t really accurate though. He could carry that almost all year. He has been doing so for 4-5 straight months now.
  15. I love this forum because I can talk (and read) about something enjoyable without the world’s sewage infiltrating it. You guys are really ruining the enjoyment right now.
  16. And assuming Hader, Jeffress, and Knebel (plus others) can continue to be dominating relievers (No reason to think they can’t) they just aren’t go to lose many games late which gives them a pretty high floor. Just need decent starters to get them leads. That’s the biggest question mark for the rest of the season.
  17. Saladino can hit and has provided some slick fielding! We also hold a 4 game lead on the entire NL! 101 win pace! Aguilar still hitting! Bullpen still dominating! On another note I think the Brewers are going to add bigtime at the deadline. Between that, our bullpen, and our September roster strength I think this team is looking real strong this year. The only thing that will stop us from grabbing a postseason spot is a rotation implosion.
  18. I don’t care about the future. I care about now, as in the next few months. Zach Davies is pitching pretty poorly, Chacin is pitching stellar. Davies isn’t anything special and I honestly don’t see why just because he is young he is assured to improve. He is in his third season with an arsenal that depends purely on control. I don’t see a much higher ceiling. I’m not ignoring stats (and your stats were wrong). On the other hand you are ignoring things like mechanics a pitcher may alter. The Brewers signed Chacin because they saw something they believed they could fix and make him even better. Age is a weird argument because this year is the only year that matters. Chacin is 30...not even close to old. THAT being said I think it would be really nice to at least get a few starts from Nelson to at least get some kind of idea what he might do the rest of the season. He could hit the ground running, never know.
  19. I hate Sogard because we seem to need 10 “Veteran Grit “ jokes daily that stopped being funny after about 3 times 6 months ago.
