  1. I really don't care about his batting average. I'd rather have a .220 hitter with a .330 OBP than a .270 hitter with a .295 OBP. Considering where he bats in the line-up...definitely will take the AVG. Today is a fantastic example. A walk would have been utterly worthless with who comes up behind him. Regardless he is hitting .273 with an OBP of .313...not the example you are using. If we want to talk about sad...Orlando Arcia's horrid split between his average and OBP% despite the pitcher behind him. You would think he would walk more just to get to the pitcher.
  2. I doubt Hader cares too terribly much. The way he is pitching could equate to a $100mil+ contract by the time he hits free agency. I will live with my role at that point. He could totally flame out as a starter and the heavy innings/pitches could make him a totally different reliever if reverted back.
  3. And Arcia better get to every ball in the infield the way he hits.
  4. The ability to bring him in when he is truly needed is really hard to peg value wise...but it has to be a lot. I think you could argue his impact so far has been just as valuable as a top of the rotation guy so far this year. How many times does a starter pitch like an ace only for his offense to score one or zero runs? Or the offense makes it a blow out. Anyone could pitch those games.
  5. I’ve seen it many times. By Josh Hader
  6. Brent Suter has not gotten the job done. We have one really good pitcher so we really need an above average 5th starter. He is no where near that.
  7. Maybe our fans should refuse to buy tickets to games they don’t want to go to. Then the Cub fans can just buy them directly from the Brewers. Cub fans filling our park is probably better for us than instead just having 20k Brewer fans attend.
  8. Even after selling the Cubs tickets they probably still spend more on the Brewers than you. This must mean they are a bigger fan than you because they are supporting the team more, correct? After all...money is what put a better team on the field. If you were a real fan you would be buying season tickets and not miss a single game. If you do you better not sell your tickets unless they provide three forms of Brewer fandom proof.
  9. The sarcasm was missed...my bad
  10. Where is the TE pick?!
  11. His FIP says he should be much better and his K/9!!! Ace!
  12. We are about to find out honestly. He is going to get his chance to prove himself. So far it is a pretty small sample.
  13. Villar’s biggest problem moving forward is the fact even if he is average he can’t use one of his most valuable assets, speed, that much. At least in a super useful way. There is no need for him at the top of the order anymore(if his OBP skills return to a more acceptable level) because of Yelich/Cain additions. Stealing infront of Arcia and the pitcher is pretty pointless...even infront of the the catcher, Arcia, and the pitcher. If his isn’t going to tap into his power anymore he should be in a position where he can create runs with his speed.
  14. That is all fine and dandy if he can prove to repeat it. You would likely have to pay 5 WAR price to get him (so like Yelich-esque price). He could easily dip down to a 3 WAR guy or lower moving forward. Not so special and not a huge improvement for the price over Villar.
  15. Rebuild? Aaron Rodgers alone could carry a team to a super bowl. If we had some average QB...I would agree. However, it doesn't take much addition and luck to go deep with Aaron Rodgers. They are not in denial.
  16. He was smart not to trade them for less than what he thought they were worth. I'm guessing he would have traded one or two of those guys in a minute if he got the return he wanted. Still would. You could say that about literally any player at any time. He was actively trying to trade at least two of those guys pretty hard. He likely preferred to not keep all three. Having all three right now is a matter of luck we got lowballed or nowhere near what Stearns wanted. Can't say that about every player.
  17. Why not just make it a rule and require it? I still can't believe they haven't made pitchers wear something more than a cap on their head. The only thing I have ever seen is some front padded thing that makes zero logical sense because they don’t get hit in their forehead. Problem is to protect them they would need some type of full helmet surrounding their entire head because often times (all the time really) it is l the back side or the side. That might really mess up how they can pitch etc. I just don’t see it. It is a really rare freak occurance. Forcing them to wear something like that for a random freak occurance seems like a tough sell. Voluntarily? Sure.
  18. Always enjoyed when he did the little baseball tips on the field after the games.
  19. Thames didn’t need any help at home. The catcher is on the right side of the foul line. There is absolutely zero reason he should be running on the right side of the foul line. He also was slow jogging it even when it was clear no one had camped under the ball yet. Wow...I mean just wow. That was brutal.
  20. I see teams consistently field teams of 11-13 players. I think my junior year it was like 13 players and we weren’t that bad. This year my high school is fielding a 11 man roster. My high school was pretty darn small...so if you think your school won’t field a spring team then your school must be pretty dang small. We lost a ton of players to track and a few to golf. It was kinda sad because some of those guys were really good before they switched in middle school. That being said I understand summer baseball has a lot of problems and downsides too. Where I lived we would lose players to jobs and farming in the summer.
  21. They were mostly in the Milwaukee area. Okay, so why were these schools doing summer baseball? What was even the original motivation for summer baseball? Because right now it seems everyone is dominating the conversation about things really irrelevent to summer baseball. If it was to avoid weather northern teams would figure out how to do it. If these teams are around Milwaukee I am sure travel teams are not helping matters.
