  1. If they went after a Jacoby Ellsbury I’d love to see what they do next. Very possible the only reason he accepts a trade is to be released or if the off chance we actually want to play him that would certainly scream Santana/Brinson trade.
  2. Alright let’s all get super excited about where Keon Broxton is going and what MiLB filler we are getting back!! Cause we know the suspense will continually make us speculate something way more exciting than that.
  3. Prices are not coming down. Arrietta, Lynn, and Cobb may settle for less years but the amount per year will not be going down. ......so the price is coming down.
  4. Clancy no team is ever going to trade players to a foreign league without that player’s consent and good luck with that. These players are human beings with lives and typically families. You can’t just treat them like garbage and ship them off to a different continent...that is terrible. If a GM did this they would be absolutely crucified. This is such a terrible idea and I don’t think it is even possible anyway.
  5. They do, they get paid for giving the Korean team the rights. I think you need to understand for a Korean player to interest the Brewers that player would be MVP material in their league(Thames). That doesn’t make any sense for the Korean teams. We just traded someone we didn’t even want for some money. Not like we just traded Lewis Brinson
  6. We may spend big and have payroll space, but investing $100mil for a pitcher that will be 34 in the youngest year is just not going to happen. Why not just sign one of the FAs. Sure they may have less upside, but they are at least not already in a age screaming regression.
  7. Yah people keep referring to Wang “giving up”. The Brewers didn’t want him and obviously weren’t going to keep him around. He has already made pretty darn good money the last few years and if you are just a fringe roster guy the foreign leagues can easily be more lucrative.
  8. I mean David Stearns would probably consider Neil Walker a huge move while (I think?) what you are inferring with your thread is something more major than that. Stearns also seemed to change the topic from “significant move” and answered it by talking about a “meaningful move” which could be almost anything.
  9. Yes, he is making a selfish decision. And he has every right to do so. But I also have every right to call him a bum we wasted time and resources on. Hey, I am really sorry to hear Wang didn’t sign your ball/card. I am sure he didn’t mean anything by it. Obviously we didn’t want them, no MLB team wanted to trade for them, and the only thing interested in these two pitchers(that they also wanted) was a foreign league. Giving them to foreign teams doesn’t mean anything or make us look bad. We literally did what was considered in the players best interest. We probably look good if anything. I don’t see why you are so up in arms about this. Clearly they had little chance to make a MLB impact this year and we didn’t even want to keep them around. Would you be this upset if we just released them? What is the difference. If we planned on any use with them they would still be here.
  10. We aren’t getting him for Brinson and Ortiz...it would take more. I’d expect at least three quite intriguing prospects to nab him. Now part of his value will be lessened because you will have to pay him some big chunks of change in the later years, but he is a 5+ WAR talent and the oldest year will be 31? Wow. I mean what is best case for Lewis Brinson? 6 years at that production? And that is highly unlikely to happen. You are essentially deciding to pay a little bit and give up one decent prospect for the sure thing 5+ WAR guy. That would be a no brainer trade for Milwaukee. Highway robbery.
  11. Why not cheer for the Vikings to win on the back of Keenum? Then they can back up a truck to him sinking their cap? Or he demands so much they can’t afford him and have no QB?
  12. No, I highly doubt that. Unlikely we trade Thames and roll with Aguilar starting so still no way for him to make the roster as we would bring someone in to play 1B. I’d say it is way more likely we would sell high on Aguilar much like we did with Jason Rogers this opening up a spot for Choi to compete for. I doubt that is going on either though. This guy is banking on an injury to start the season nothing more.
  13. I really hope to do this someday if I can rationalize such a steep price. It’s definitely worth the money for all the unforgettable memories. Especially this year with some many more recent Brewers.
  14. Yeah, Sully from Monsters, Inc, because the Kids in the clubhouse ran around imitating that movie and the players loved it. So awful. Almost as horrible as untucking their jerseys. Jesh, alright Mr.Grinch.
  15. Maybe a year away? He made one defensive play in A-ball and you have him possibly being the team's starting 2nd baseman at some point this season? 5 players from the first 9 picks in the 2015 draft played in 2017 with 3 of them being very significant. That is what is supposed to happen when you draft a college player in the top 10. https://www.baseball-reference.com/draft/?year_ID=2015&draft_round=1&draft_type=junreg&query_type=year_round&from_type_jc=0&from_type_hs=0&from_type_4y=0&from_type_unk=0 How many of them were questionable defensively in the infield and have played almost zero defense the last two years? You can’t just compare guys like that when they have huge differences. He has essentially proven nothing in the minors with his bat or glove. If you are that confident in Hiura then Harrison would make more sense. Our current options are not good(or extremely not trustworthy) and Neil Walker likely costs a 3 year commitment. Josh Harrison can be a one year guy who can either be traded or have his option declined if Hiura is ready for 2019. Sure he is pricey, but we have a ton of payroll space and it would make the prospect cost close to zero.
  16. People are really overblowing the “giving up prospects” thing. It would likely take...well not a whole lot. I don’t think Harrison is a bad option. He gives you average offense(maybe a little upside for more at Miller Park) and pretty solid defense. Seems like an expensive stop gap. I could see it if Neil Walker would take too many years they don’t want to commit to.
  17. Seems like recycled information, but hard to say.
  18. #1 Well the best way is to have a connection. #2 Go to Harvard or a similar school #3 One heck of a resume #4 Realistically they do post most jobs to the public...even pretty major ones. I will try and put the link in here, but a quick google search pulls it up. I have seen pretty major analytic job postings before. https://www.teamworkonline.com/baseball-jobs/milwaukeebaseball/milwaukee-brewers
  19. His comment didn’t say he wasn’t trading Travis Shaw. It was a very typical empty comment that every GM says. “ “I don’t anticipat...oops well the right deal came along.”
  20. You can take everything David Stearns says and throw it into a garbage can. It is meaningless...totally empty words. Maybe you are unfamiliar with how a GMs talk to the media, but they are not going to tell you anything negative or ever hint at specific moves. They are not going to tell you who they are shopping or EVER tell you they don’t plan on having a player around long. They act like they don’t have to move players they won’t be retaining in 2 months when it is July. They are going to deflect almost all media rumors. Their job is not to give us inside scoops.
  21. The almost sad accuracy of this.
  22. This is really good news if he comes back earlier. Get a good look at him and what kind of impact he will have down the stretch if we are competing. Better idea of what to do at the deadline regardless.
  23. No offense to our beat writers, but they kind of suck when it comes to rumors etc. Rumors/Big news always comes from the other teams local writers or a Rosenthal type.
  24. Yankees and Mets definitely would have motivation to want the cheaper guy. Yankees probably want to save as much as possible for mega contracts(Harper) or avoid the luxury tax, Mets really don’t want a high payroll and it is already up there, and the Braves never make sense. I guess everyone needs to understand such a flurry of moves probably depends on very specific things happening that would be favorable in the eyes of Stearns. To downgrade at 3B and spend money to get older I’m guessing the return on Shaw would be really good. Just like the Cain signing after a Santana trade. If we sign Arrieta or Darvish I am sure it would be at a not jaw dropping price.
