  1. Nah, not fouled. Replay on bat checking across half the plate pretty obvious he went. The ball clearly changed direction before it hit the ground meaning it hit the bat. And the plate is not what determines a swing or not. In fact, there are no written rules for what determines a strike on a check swing. Yup I agree...pretty sure he fouled that off. Schroeder was quick to write it off as not a foul like usual so we didn't get more replays. Its not that noticeable because Gennett was pulling the bat back and angled the barrel toward the catcher. To me it looked like the ball hit toward the end of the bat.
  2. I don't think anyone really does. Something to talk about.
  3. Bellinger plus some change(not super promising players) is probably the best one could dream on. That is if the Brewers pick up salary. I really just don't see it at this point. Ryan Braun is the second best player in franchise history. To trade him I think they would need a can't miss guy so they know they won't end up trading Braun for nothing. The only way I see a deal happening is if Stearns wants to go fishing in the lower levels. I know when Hamels was traded the return didn't look groundbreaking, but a ton of the players they got ended up on Top 100 lists after the trade went down. That's probably the most realistic way we can get a good return and get him traded. Also you aren't getting Urias no matter what you offer. He is on the MLB team and has ace stuff.
  4. And then trade him for a haul next offseason.
  5. Yah that isn't a lot. Kiss 40% of that goodbye because the tax man came along. Suddenly that number is $11.4mil. That isn't going to last you very long. If he spent $500,000 a year on average that money is already gone. and that is pretending he spent nothing while his career was going on. He would have to live a pretty normal life for that money to last for the rest of his life. One bad investment could really tank the little he had. There are people that have blown $100mil in 5 or less years. I do not think it would take much to spend $12mil in 20+ years.
  6. Just because a player is taken high or is a college hitter doesn't mean they should fly through the system. College hitters are all different from eachother. Some of them still need their game to take shape more while other just need to get used to more difficult competition. If I remember right Senzel was considered the most MLB ready hitter in the draft. If you place expectations on a guy just because he is a high draft pick or a college hitter I promise you your player development will be horrendous, full of failures. You will have a Mike Zunino and be dumbfounded on why he can't hit .200
  7. Gotta remember Yount is from a time of much smaller salaries. If he didn't invest it to grow I wouldn't be surprised if he has burned through a lot of it. Regardless he didn't make $100mil like many do these days. A $100,000 check for stuff he probably didn't value a ton is likely pretty nice.
  8. Brent Suter is the kind of guy who is a career minor leaguer who occasionally gets a call up because of an injury etc. His ceiling is probably a below average player no one is sure why he has a MLB job on a consistent basis. I will say his ?slider? is a nice offering at 72mph to throw hitters off a bit, but having a change up speed fastball just isn't going to work. He depends on weak contact and defense to save the day. He will never work as a starter and he isn't exactly what you want in a bullpen arm. When it comes to bullpen arms you want over the top stuff and strikeouts. Brent Suter offers neither of those things. His type of pitching also makes him a worthless asset coming into a jam with less than two outs. You aren't going to call on Suter with less than two outs and people in scoring position because the ball is likely to be put in play and giving up sacrifice flys is not ok for a bullpen pitcher. I give the guy mad props for making it to the top level throwing 86mph, I really do. That being said I hope he soaks it all in because he isn't good enough to get a long term spot.
  9. The pitcher cant throw a strike to save his life and Arcia swings at the first pitch that was 2 feet off the plate. That is the kind of stupidity that loses games plain and simple.
  10. Surprised Erceg shows so much power despite a very lanky frame. Kind of looks like he he could add some muscle and really have some above average power.
  11. Rickie Weeks didn't hit his ceiling because of horrible injuries to his wrists and his legs. He was pretty darn good in the early going before that injury in 2011 officially tanked him. The fact he watched a lot of pitches is definitely not a big reason he ended up not being as great as some hoped. Regarding Keon he is similar. A guy who strikes out a ton, but excels in his other offensive skills where it might just make up for all the whiffs. It's going to take a large sample size to really know if he can actually do that. Bringing his hands down made a ton of sense and it has worked out greatly for him. I think we might have a solid CFer on our hands in Keon.
  12. I think he wants the money. Whether he needs it or just wants it. It's hard for us to imagine selling such milestones, but that's because we all are nowhere near MLB quality players and idolize them. It's a lot different when you actually have those skills. After 20 years he probably has stared at his baseball stuff long enough.
  13. Maybe in the US. Who knows what law he could have broken in Brazil. In the US it probably wouldn't be legal for a security guard to hold someone at gunpoint demanding them to pay for breaking a bathroom mirror. However sounds like one can in Brazil.
  14. Between all the games against the Cubs, Cardinals, and on the road we are going to lose a ton of games. If Davies has hit reality/wall that is just a cherry on the top. I also have to imagine quite a few players will get shut down early possibly adding a loss or two. The bottom of the league is pretty tight together, but I still expect them to end up in the Top 5.
  15. Exactly and if he doesn't work out as a starter he could flourish as a reliever.
  16. Domingo Santana nearing his return...bumped up to Colorado Springs for today's game.
  17. Performance wise I am not really concerned. So many hitters start out slow. Of course I would like to see some improvement in September or I might consider sending him back to AAA next season. On the bright side he has shown patience, drawn some walks, and not struck out at a high rate. If those things weren't happening I'd be a bit more concerned.
  18. Yah except JJ Hardy was actually hitting decently in the minors when we called him up. Arcia on the other hand was having a pretty bad season considering he was in a hitters paradise.
  19. No in my opinion the way they enforce it is perfect. There are situations where a team isn't going to try and throw you out. Down by 5 runs and stealing 2nd with two outs in the bottom of the 9th is a great example. There is no risk...NONE. The infielders are so far off the base they could not try to get you out even if they wanted to.
  20. No thanks. You shouldn't get a stolen base if the other team isn't trying to stop you. It isn't stealing if it is given to you.
  21. Pretty sure Texas isn't going to let Stearns dictate where they place their players. Players the Brewers may not even end up acquiring.
  22. Since he doesn't live in Milwaukee and lives on the west coast I'm sure he'd love to be traded there. Probably even more so now with two kids there. Well I mean since those teams aren't on his no trade list that really wouldn't make him likely to wave his no trade clause because he wouldn't need to do it.
  23. Pretty cool Wisconsin native Jaren Kendall is #1.
  24. Well it's because of his religion and his religion ONLY that he is an absolute media darling. I realize this is more the media's fault and not Tim's but please answer me this DocLuna 7... Why should Tebow get to ride the Son of God's coat tails while everyone else has to actually perform on the field in order to even get a 10th of the attention this guy gets? Don't be mad he is marketing himself and making money. If do the same if I was lucky enough.
  25. And Ryan Braun is still the best thing ever. Let's not compare beating a wife/girlfriend to taking PEDs. Well his comment was about "bad boys" in general" and he wasn't referring to just Chapman.
