  1. Wow did I miss by a country mile. Love that it's Reggie #1. Say what you want, dude was a pleasure to watch.
  2. I'll toss a few guesses out there in Frank Thomas, Albert Belle, Cecil Fielder, Kirby Puckett
  3. Houser has a fairly unique line for his day's work.
  4. I was just thinking yesterday, he clearly needs some stiffer competition than aa. 2 singles against him so far on the year.
  5. That article sums it up pretty well. It isn't that we don't HAVE water out here, but piped water presents many challenges.
  6. Another scoreless hitless inning for Chapman today. His numbers so far this season are plain incredible. I could see him being a guy they could flip this summer, if they were to bring him on up to the majors soon.
  7. I'm glad, and not the least bit surprised. Last September I was starting to wonder if we'd already seen the best of Jungmann...Hopefully not, but no matter the what, right now his pitching is not MLB caliber. Will be rooting for him to get it together.
  8. I would like to see some games being forfeited if a player is taking substances. Last night Dee Gordon had a key hit and the Marlins ended up winning the game. The guy shouldn't of been playing if this test was taken in spring training. It doesn't take a month to verify results. Verlander's stance as well. Makes some sense. I think the reasoning is, can't suspend until the ruling is firm. Innocent until proven guilty, etc. I agree the the process should have more expediency but it is what it is.
  9. We're out because some friends down river were crashing with us. Kuskokwim already broke last week (4/20, earliest recorded break up here.)
  10. Bethel. Though work takes me out to the surrounding villages for weeks at a time.
  11. I think you are missing the point. Whether it be the offseason or not, these guys all have the resources to reach one of their MLB paid trainers that know exactly what can and cannot be used. It doesn't matter if they are being supervised by this trainer specifically. If the player doesn't do this, they are not too bright and deserve what they get. Maybe so. I can however see how this all can be a challenge for someone not fluent in English, regardless of their intelligence level. Like I've said, I just wonder if, and how many, guys have gotten hit out of what they thought was the clear blue sky. None of us know. It could be zero for all I know.
  12. I do believe that the vast majority of these guys 100% deserve their suspensions. Just more or less wondering here, how many have truly been surprised when they popped positive.
  13. Most pro athletes work with trainers that don't work for their ball club during the off season.
  14. That could very well be. Even then, it's certainly plausible that a sleazy trainer could juice an athlete without them knowing, or con them into thinking he's got the tests beaten. I honestly don't have any clue what it's like to be an MLB player, so it's all speculation on my end.
  15. Running out of water. This is a real thing where I live; we get water delivery on a semi-weekly basis, so sometime today a city truck will refill our 1000 gallon tank, after a completely different truck empties the other tank we have. Today is water day and we ran out last night. I've got dirty socks and dirty dishes and a shower would be nice.
  16. I get that, Plush. My point is though, when a guy goes into a GNC or wherever, how does he know he's not purchasing something that could get him into trouble.
  17. I read that. Dee's statement is just like all the rest of them. It got me to wondering just how many supplements contain substances banned by MLB and fail to adequately list it. There are 74 banned substances under http://mlb.mlb.com/pa/pdf/jda.pdf. I cross-checked it with my daily multivitamins and couldn't find anything, but there are plenty of things on there which I couldn't say for sure that they do not contain something banned by MLB. I can certainly see how unintended use is plausible, especially so for any players who are not fluent readers.
  18. It was a valuable exercise since it will happen to the Brewers this year, even though it was never in question today. I'd say that's a fair prediction. We no longer have Carlos around to swat some weird quacker and break up the no-no for us.
  19. Nice bomb Davis hit off Verlander tonight, 448 ft. Triple to go along with it. He's had a nice week+ for himself, hope he keeps it up. I always root for ex-Brewers to do well (besides against us of course.)
  20. Ennder I think you pretty much nailed it. A few people have been dumping on Anderson after his last start but bad starts happen. Judging a pitcher on his worst day is about like judging a pitcher on his best day. I do believe that Segura's play might make some people regret the trade. I myself might be given to some of that thinking, I leaned high end on Jean and still tend to. I really think Arizona saw his potential and went with it, and I think Stearns knew what we had in him as well. Hopefully Diaz makes it a good trade. Obviously right now Diamondbackfan is liking it but as the thread says, too early to judge.
  21. Quoted for truth. I have to attend one of these games at some point this year. Likewise. When I get to visit WI this summer, I'm looking forward to seeing this tandem.
  22. They had Surhoff!!
  23. You know what though? We get guys like this sometimes on tv but this is what I want on the radio. Only a Brewers fan listens to a Brewers game on the radio. Not saying specifically August-I have no idea what he's like as a guy or on the mic. But I'd rather listen to a former Brewer on the radio than just about anybody else.
  24. Used to be one of my late childhood root-fors. I got really excited when he tossed a shutout in '89 but that kind of ended up being the high water mark.
  25. Am I the only one who gets momentarily thrown off looking at the box score when the Sky Sox play the Sounds?
