  1. Dude has one powerful sweet swing. I bet scouts just adore him. Everyone complained about us not having a superstar prospect in the system...well, this guy is it. I haven't seen enough video of our prospects to feel good about putting in a top 25 ranking, but I tend to feel an agreement with much of the ranking you posted. In my head, Brinson's the new #1.
  2. I'm going on a trip to southeast AK tomorrow, and won't have connectivity until the 1st. What a time to be without internet, I am bound to have some Brewers surprises waiting.
  3. I thought the Tigers were stupid to sign him to that contract...but for Texas to trade for that contract, with the two most valuable years already gone, while giving up Kinsler was dumb on epic proportions. Can't say I didn't see this coming. Now it appears quite possible that Prince is done for the year, if not longer. If indeed that is the case, here's a quick and admittedly basic look at his pay and results: As a Brewer: 7 years, 230 HR, total earnings of $34,914,500. After being a Brewer, to date: 5 years, 89 HR, total earnings of $118,000,000. Almost enough to make me wish he'd signed with the cubs or cardinals.
  4. Speaking of the new trackpad in Macs, let me say I am not a fan. Mine has one major glitch, which I haven't been able to solve by adjusting settings. When I type, occasionally my thumb muscle will touch the trackpad and cause random unpredictable things to instantly occur with my existing text and cursor placement.
  5. It's still pretty decent fishing water, especially if you like to make pickled pike (which I do.) There are lots of smaller fish. For swimming and such, it would be way down on my list though.
  6. I was really hoping they would set a record for regular season wins, get all their fans riled up, and then promptly lose the NLDS, but that's just me.
  7. Used to live in Gordon BTW, minor quibble from earlier in thread, but it's Mellen, not Melon. Technically, yes. But not how we used to tease them. And remembering Gordon... the flowage was always nice too. I don't remember any cabins allows on it, but there was a campground where I spent many a summer... tubing, swimming, fishing, showering under the falls. Ah.. good times. Gordon flowage and St. Croix river below it has really changed over the years since they started the cranberry farm just up river from the flowage. It dumps so much fertilizer and nutrients into the system that the aquatic vegetation has really exploded.
  8. Used to live in Gordon BTW, minor quibble from earlier in thread, but it's Mellen, not Melon.
  9. I was figuring an extra 20 ft on it, but sometimes it's hard to tell.
  10. Did anyone in attendance happen to catch the estimated distance on Carter's 2nd HR? Great win, it's fun to watch the young guys have a good time at the expense of the cards for a change.
  11. No. I put that run on my mental scoreboard as soon as it was ball 4. Walking the pitcher is bad enough, but the st louis pitcher? Forget it, that runner is coming home. That's just the way she goes with these guys.
  12. Getting the run around from health insurance. After about a dozen phone calls I still don't have a doctor's appointment because I've yet to find somebody who can or will tell me of an orthopedic specialist that is "within network." At this point I would honestly prefer if my employer just skipped the insurance, let me fend for myself and paid me the money they spend on my insurance each year instead.
  13. Is that a typo on the BC game? Ponce got through 4 IP with 4 hits on 24 pitches? And no double play or caught stealing to help with that? Interesting.
  14. Your friends are right. You've had a couple nice little park dates to sort of kick the tires. Now it's time to plan a proper date and show her a good time.
  15. I can envision a few different scenarios for how this all plays out for Wily. Here's hoping Dabney is able to help him get on the track to reaching his potential.
  16. [sarcasm]Why we didn't just shove Cabrera off 3rd and tag him for the easy out there I'll never know.[/sarcasm]
  17. Colon beat the batter to first. The throw was hard, high, and off target. Also, loved that they had a mound meeting after to let him catch his breath I saw things differently. Here's a fun pic after the ball ticked off Colon's glove, courtesy of espn http://scores.espn.go.com/mlb/photos?gameId=360609108&photoId=5528154 The only shot they had to get Braun was for Loney to lead Colon to the bag with the throw but he couldn't get there.
  18. I don't know why Knebel wasn't pulled after Loney reached. Smith was warm, Cabrera up. I don't want to get on CC's case here but that was a total no-brainer from where I'm sitting.
  19. Kind of funny that Loney got an error on that play. He made the perfect throw but Colon was too slow to get where he needed to be.
  20. I'm with Plush. This will be interesting to look at 5 years from now.
  21. Back visiting, going to tonight's game with my Dad. Here's hoping Davies can keep up the good work.
  22. Call me superstitious, but I do not want to see Villar get in this year.
  23. Or make that green top of the wall be the HR. I know the rules, but that fan doesn't really deserve to be tossed. Just about anybody would have tried to catch that.
