  1. The guys on MLBN were sure falling all over themselves about Judge's 100 mph throw this evening, I even heard "hardest I've ever seen from an outfielder." Brett Phillips says hi.
  2. Extra-Base Hits Crucial in Shuckers 6-4 Win Over BayBears Biloxi Bangs Out 12 Hits, Draws 10 Walks In Victory By Garrett Greene Zack Brown worked around some struggles and limited damage that could have been worse. Good to see the composure from ZB to hold off a blowup. He's certainly been taking some big steps so far this year, and he worked on honing some damage control skills tonight. The Biloxi bullpen continues to slam the door when given the opportunity. The top of the Shuckers' order fared well, and Ray and Stokes had multi hit games. Biloxi batters overall recorded 12 hits (3 2b, 3b, hr) and worked for 10BB. Plenty to like with the hitters tonight. Biloxi Box Score Biloxi Game Log Biloxi takes the lead: Biloxi Top of the 3rd Wendell Rijo singles on a ground ball to shortstop Connor Justus. Corey Ray grounds into a double play, second baseman Luis Rengifo to shortstop Connor Justus to first baseman Jared Walsh. Wendell Rijo out at 2nd. Troy Stokes Jr. doubles (15) on a ground ball to center fielder Brandon Sandoval. Jake Hager walks. Jake Gatewood homers (7) on a fly ball to left center field. Troy Stokes Jr. scores. Jake Hager scores. Lucas Erceg singles on a ground ball to right fielder Brendon Sanger. Blake Allemand walks. Lucas Erceg to 2nd. Clint Coulter strikes out swinging. And builds upon it: Biloxi Top of the 4th Mitch Ghelfi grounds out, catcher Julian Leon to first baseman Jared Walsh. Wendell Rijo grounds out, third baseman Riley Unroe to first baseman Jared Walsh. Pitching Change: Samil De Los Santos replaces Joe Gatto. Corey Ray walks. With Troy Stokes Jr. batting, Corey Ray steals (12) 2nd base. Troy Stokes Jr. triples (3) on a line drive to center fielder Brandon Sandoval. Corey Ray scores. Jake Hager singles on a line drive to center fielder Brandon Sandoval. Troy Stokes Jr. scores. Jake Hager advances to 3rd, on a fielding error by center fielder Brandon Sandoval. Jake Gatewood walks. Lucas Erceg flies out to left fielder Brennon Lund. Biloxi Pitching Zack Brown (W, 3-0) 5 IP, 5H, 4R, 4ER, 4BB, 3K QTC (H, 4) 1.1, 1H, 1K John Olczak (H, 5) 1.2, 1H, 2K Nate Griep 1.0 (S, 16) Biloxi Hitting Corey Ray 2-4, 2b(15), 2BB, 2SB, CS Troy Stokes Jr. 3-6, 2b(15), 3b(3), RBI (23), SB Jake Hager 1-2, RBI (21), 3BB Jake Gatewood 1-3, HR(7), 3RBI(29)
  3. Here's a text I received last night from a former co-worker. (He's a big cards fan.) "Cards need to dump Holland. What a nightmare! Can't even demote him to the minors. Lost 3 games outright when his team was ahead and today dug a deeper hole as closer." I mean, of course most if not all the cards fans are pretty ticked off. But to know somebody personally who is tossing and turning over their club blowing games...It's pretty swell.
  4. Of course it’s a long ways from here until the postseason. You’re right though. A bullpen working like ours is now...if you have that in October you really have something going for you.
  5. I kind of wondered today if it might make better sense to have Choi at 1B and let Aguilar DH.
  6. Hopefully milb.com gets fixed soon, it is irksome being unable to see scores.
  7. Wow does time fly. It doesn’t seem that long ago when I listened to Woodard’s debut gem on the radio and it’s near 21 years ago. Anyone else remember the sickening gut feeling that Fetters was gonna blow it in the 9th or was that just me?
  8. He did. He had a couple games in AAA Omaha and that was enough to tell him it was time to call it a career.
  9. It's always sad when a player gets hurt right as they are about to make the show for their first time. Who knows if and when that chance will ever come along again. What makes it more painful for him no doubt, Dubon would have been (and hopefully still will be, someday) the first MLB player born and raised in Honduras. On a personal note, an old friend of mine is Honduran, and inexplicably a Mets fan. I had high hopes of Dubon being the catalyst to converting my friend to Brewer fandom.
  10. Hopefully he can get a single to finish the cycle this afternoon.
  11. Sorry for the double post on Biloxi last night, internet here in Quinhagak was being a little funky when I submitted.
  12. Stay tuned, he had to leave the game tonight in Biloxi after attempting to throw out a baserunner.
  13. Final: Biloxi 1, Jacksonville 0 Pitchers Who Hit: Houser K's Six, Scores Game's Only Run Knebel and Logan Solid in Rehab, Vogt Leaves Early By Spencer Siegel Biloxi Box Score Biloxi Game Log It was a great night for the regular Biloxi pitchers as well as rehabbing Brewers Corey Knebel and Boone Logan, as they limited Jacksonville to 3 singles and 4 walks. The Shuckers' bats managed 8 hits and 5 walks, but their lone run came via back to back doubles from Houser and Ray. It is worth noting that catcher Stephen Vogt left the game in the 6th after making throws to 2nd and 3rd trying to throw out base stealing Jumbo Shrimp Cade Gotta. Vogt went straight to the clubhouse upon exiting. Shucker Kodi Medieros is scheduled to start tomorrow, going for the sweep. Biloxi Bottom of the 3rd Adrian Houser doubles (1) on a line drive to left fielder Cade Gotta. Corey Ray doubles (10) on a fly ball to center fielder Monte Harrison. Adrian Houser scores. Troy Stokes Jr. called out on strikes. Stephen Vogt lines out to left fielder Cade Gotta. Nick Franklin walks. Lucas Erceg flies out to center fielder Monte Harrison. Quick Notes: Biloxi Batting: Lucas Erceg 1-3, BB Jake Gatewood 1-3, BB Corey Ray 1-4, 2B, RBI Adrian Houser 1-2, 2B, R Biloxi Pitching: Adrian Houser 4 IP, 2H, 2BB, 6K Wuilder Rodriguez(W 1-1) 2.0, 1H, 1BB, 1K Boone Logan 1.0, 1BB, 1K Corey Knebel .2, 1K Q T-C (S, 2) 1.1, 2K Jumbo Shrimp: Isan Diaz 0-2, 2BB (.194) Monte Harrison 0-4, 3K (.250)

  15. Final: Biloxi 6, Jacksonville 4 Comeback Win Led By Rijo Two Homer Night Erceg Hits Go-Ahead Homer as Brown Ties Career High in K's By Spencer Siegel Biloxi Box Score Biloxi Game Log This was a bit of a wild one, and fortunately the Shuckers got the win. They seemed gifted a run in the second inning when Tyler Heineman lead off with a walk, and reached third with nobody out off a couple wild pitches. But, Heineman would have to wait until the 7th to cross home plate. Each team also failed to score with bases loaded and 1 out, Biloxi in the 5th and Jacksonville in the 7th. The Biloxi bats did record 10 hits, 3 HR, 2 2B and 6 BBs, and that was enough to get the edge. Besides the 3rd inning troubles, there is a lot to like about Zack Brown's evening, especially the 8 Ks and 12 groundouts. Turning point of the game: Biloxi Bottom of the 7th Pitching Change: Jose Quijada replaces Kolton Mahoney, batting 9th, replacing Skyler Ewing. Corey Ray strikes out swinging. Troy Stokes Jr. singles on a fly ball to right fielder John Norwood. With Lucas Erceg batting, Troy Stokes Jr. steals (5) 2nd base. Lucas Erceg homers (2) on a fly ball to right field. Troy Stokes Jr. scores. Tyler Heineman singles on a ground ball to right fielder John Norwood. Pitching Change: Esmerling De La Rosa replaces Jose Quijada, batting 9th. Jake Gatewood doubles (2) on a ground ball to left fielder Kyle Barrett. Tyler Heineman scores. Clint Coulter flies out to right fielder John Norwood. Jake Hager pops out to catcher Rodrigo Vigil in foul territory. Quick Notes: Biloxi Batting: Troy Stokes Jr. 2-5, SB, R Lucas Erceg 2-5, HR, 2 RBI Wendell Rijo 3-3, 2B, 2 HR, BB, 2 R, 3 RBI Biloxi Pitching: Zack Brown 6.1 IP, 5H, 4R, 1ER, 2BB, 8K Boone Logan 0.0, 1H, 1BB Jon Olczak 0.2, 1K Q T-C 0.2, 1H, 1BB, 2K Nate Griep 1.1 IP Jacksonville: Isan Diaz 0-3 2BB (.198) Monte Harrison 2-5, 2B (.260)
  16. It is absolutely NOT illegal to use social media posts as a reason not to hire someone, or fire them. Unless you use that as a reason to discriminate against someone that falls into one of the protected classes. I don't know of any company who doesn't check out someone's social media as part of the interview process. In my opinion, I really don't hold things against someone for stuff they posted in HS or college. I may ask about it, but for the most part I chalk it up to young people do and say stupid things, I know I did. If it's more recent activity though, sure, I ding people all the time. I don't this of course, but in theory I could choose not to hire someone for being a Cubs fan. Nothing illegal about that. Are you saying you would hire a cubs fan? Hire them to do what?
  17. Then here is some schadenfreude for you
  18. Was it Molitor? Yes sir, July 26 1987 I remember listening to that.
  19. I think it's time to pull the trigger on making Counsell a player-coach. There was a time in I believe 2012 when we had a bizarre wave of injuries to the guys who could play SS. I actually was starting to wonder if Counsell would have to come out of the office and suit up for a few games.
  20. I'll be happy if Hamilton doesn't get a HR off us this series. For some reason it really bothers me that 1/3 of his 18 career HRs have come off Milwaukee pitching.
  21. If (and hopefully when) Dylan File advances to AA Biloxi I think one of the MGM Park food vendors needs to sell Dylan File Gumbo.
  22. I wonder the velocity on that Brown fastball. It sure looked quick.
  23. Final: Biloxi 5, Mississippi 4 Four-Run Eighth Fuels Shuckers' Franchise Record Seventh Straight Win Biloxi Bats Around in Eighth To Spark Second Comeback in a Row By Spencer Siegel Biloxi Box Score Biloxi Game Log Biloxi starter Adrian Houser started with a rough first inning, surrendering 2 earned runs via a leadoff walk and 2 Braves singles. Houser rebounded nicely in the 2nd inducing a groundout and 2 swinging Ks to end his evening. Shuckers got a run back in the bottom of the 2nd inning after a Blake Allemand leadoff double. Kodi Medieros came on in relief and had a rough 3rd inning with 3 walks (1 intentional) and a double, surrendering 1 run. Medieros settled in to cruise through the next 4 innings, allowing only 1 single. The game remained 3-1 until Biloxi's big 8th inning: Biloxi Bottom of the 8th Offensive Substitution: Pinch-hitter Dylan Moore replaces Jon Olczak. Jacob Webb intentionally walks Blake Allemand. Jake Hager out on a sacrifice fly to center fielder Connor Lien. Nick Franklin scores. Jake Gatewood to 3rd. Blake Allemand to 2nd. Dustin Houle grounds out, shortstop Luis Valenzuela to first baseman Michael Snyder. Quick Notes: Biloxi Batting Lucas Erceg 2-3, 2B, BB Blake Allemand 1-2, 2B, 2BB Corey Ray 0-4, 2K Biloxi Pitching Adrian Houser 2IP, 2H, 2ER, 1BB, 4K Kodi Medieros 5IP, 2H, 1ER, 3BB(1 intentional), 5K John Olczak 1IP, (W, 1-0) Nate Griep 1IP, 1H, 1ER, 1BB, 1K (S,5) Former Brewer Michael Reed 1-3, 2R, 2BB, 2K for the Braves
