  1. Rough night for Keon tonight in A ball. That Gus Varland kid who started for the Snappers has got some pretty obscene numbers to start out his professional career, I must say.
  2. What?
  3. I think Raw Biz has got it. Mr. Fuji managing Neidhart rings a bell (so to speak) now that I think better of it.
  4. When we face a lefty again, I wouldn't mind seeing Braun get a start at 1B and have Hernan in RF.
  5. July (12 games): .220/.238/.341 August (14 games): .395/.419/.447
  6. I love how after the video it says "Now we can say the announcers are a bit being grumpy old men. But they might have a point." Yes, indeed they might.
  7. I'm going to guess The Doctor of Style-Slick
  8. Better than I had even hoped. I'd highly recommend it to anyone who gets their hands on some salmon. Also, it's a great way to do well by the fish that gave you its life, making good use of all the meat.
  9. See, aren't you glad they don't have that extra inning rule in place? I missed most of the game day action as I was busy welding a boat trailer out here, for a Pirates fan of all people. Didn't charge him a penny, and the Brewers came through after my work was done. I wish I could have been at this game!!
  10. It sold for $2,640, including the buyer's premium. That seems high, but the ancient and rare memorabilia market is full of very rich guys dropping six-figures on stuff all the time, so for some, this could be a bargain. Graded 1.5 with those creases on it, it's doubtful that there is a lesser version around for much less. Everytime I wonder when the bottom is going to drop out of the super high priced market, it doesn't. I got curious and looked up the item. I'm assuming you missed typing 3 zeros at the end of that price, correct?
  11. Thanks, Baldkin! Now I know I didn't think to use the remainder for stock. The rest was pretty crisp and juicy, so it probably would have had some nice flavor. My girlfriend was making fish soup, too. Although, I probably would have been chased from the stove if I'd tried adding my heads to it. Oh, and here are the heads...
  12. Last weekend I pulled a new one with my weber kettle. We'd been out drift netting silvers (coho salmon) and as we cleaned the fish I saved the heads from several to take home for the grill. Removed and discarded the gills from the heads and then split them down the middle. Drizzled all the half-heads in a bowl with olive oil, seasoned with garlic herb salt and fish seasoning. Grilled both sides of the heads on low heat, covered, over a mixture of kingsford and some wood lump coal. The result: The meat from the base of the head was just your typical, delicious grilled salmon. The meat from the cheeks and jaws, though, very much resembled chicken thighs both in taste and texture. I'll definitely be making that one again. If I knew how to post my own pics on here I would. A grill full of heads is a sight to behold!
  13. I want Yu to come back and pitch next year. Badly. And the year after that. Badly. I want lots and lots of terrible, expensive pitching from him until the cubs finally have to admit to a sunk cost and DFA Darvish. I'm rooting for the most damage possible, both fiscal and on the field. Hell, I hope he plugs and overflows the toilet in the cubs clubhouse.
  14. If the Brewers go on a nice little run here it will only be because they're just good enough to beat the bad teams & can't hang with the actual good teams. If they keep the winning up & clinch a wild card spot it won't really matter because they aren't good enough to win one game much less make a deep postseason run. If they do shock the naysayers & make a deep postseason run, but ultimately come up short of winning the World Series it will be a wasted season because Stearns didn't go all in enough to win it all when we had the chance. If they truly blow the world's collective mind & win it all, it will still be difficult to get excited about because our farm system isn't as strong as it was a year ago before our top prospects graduated or were traded for legitimate MLB players. That is pure gold. A mod should put that post in a new thread, lock the thread and pin it to the top of the major league forum.
  15. I don't know why, but I am cracking up over the fact that a Kevin Mench aka Shrek transaction rumor thread has garnered 25 (and counting!) posts in the middle of a playoff push in 2018. Fun fact: in 2000, 22 year old Kevin Mench led the Florida State League in OPS at an impressive 1.042
  16. If we’re gonna go there, then I suppose I’d rather a Yelich/ El Caballo platoon. Then you could call it Yellee.
  17. RIP Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart. Gone too early at age 63.
  18. There have been plenty of times where I've felt so thankful not to be able to watch a game. This one ranks right up there with the best of 'em.
  19. Don’t know that I’d agree on adding Ray, but I’m still awarding the +1 by merit of the Rowdy Roddy Piper reference.
  20. Thanks for the info. I’ll see if I can find the ingredients in Anchorage next time I make the trip. I always work on bringing home a few ducks in the fall, this sounds like it would make for a pretty unique feast. We usually get pintails, shovelers and scaup around here alongwith the occasional mallard. What kind of duck(s) did you use?
  21. I wouldn’t mind giving that a try. My problem is the time, money and effort required just to procure all of the vomit ingredients. Many of them I’m not certain I’ve heard of, let alone seen or tasted. Often I am lax to try making a new dish for that very reason. I hate cluttering up the fridge and cupboard with one-off-use ingredients and having them go bad.
  22. Re: the Chacin dialogue above. It’s really fun to envision a scenario where the Brewers F.O. were discussing and projecting something in the neighborhood of the results we’ve seen on Yhoulis vs. the rest. Helps me to believe in the team, what it can do, and the vision of the personnel of D.S. and the rest who have constructed it thusly. This season is going to be remembered well in the Brewers history timeline.
