  1. One of the biggest issues with bowl games is they don't take place during the season. It's complete nonsense to have a month or longer break between games. If a coach moves to a new school they have to go now, you can't really wait, you've got to work on recruiting and getting your staff hired. As a player when the transfer portal opens you need to enter immediately, if they wait too long there may not be as many opportunities available. In today's world, the only postseason games that really matter are CFP games, we've seen the shift starting about 3 or 4 years ago, NFL prospects aren't waiting around even for major bowl games, neither are coaches on the way out, certainly not transfers. That's also the biggest reason the playoff needs to expand as soon as possible.
  2. Thank you sweet Jesus, it's a new day in Madison! Could not be more thrilled with the Mertz news. This program is on the way up
  3. Fantastic news! This program needed a complete overhaul.
  4. God I hope so. He absolutely can not be the starter heading into next season.
  5. It's just so tough for a backup to come into a spot like that. The amount of practice reps he's getting are already minimal and he's been on the bench all game. The little things are so overlooked like getting the play in, getting everyone set, the cadence, etc.
  6. That's not all on the O-line. A false start with a backup QB in is likely due to the cadence and on one of them not being able to get a play call in.
  7. You guys want to get around to fixing the thread title?
  8. I do wonder if this will be the new program strategy now that we are in the era of the transfer portal. Punt on the freshman recruiting class and attempt to fill out the roster with a very large amount of transfers. They did get a high amount of them in 2022.
  9. That 2019 class headlined by Brown and Mertz is a massive failure with both ending up as colossal busts. Luckily the next few classes can't really bust since they've recruited almost nobody.
  10. I think I've been way to optimistic this year about Graham Mertz.
  11. Maybe it's been covered already, but isn't there a transaction rumors &proposals forum for these types of threads?

  13. It's that and they put absolutely no emphasis on stopping the run, basically as an organizational strategy. Edge players like Gary and Smith consistently lose containment on the edges. The safetys never play in the box. It works about as poorly as you'd expect. If you can't stop the run you have a bad defense.
  14. Remember, good teams win, great teams cover!
  15. It turned into a good betting night for me!
  16. Given the situation, it would help a lot more to have a QB who can run.
  17. Would be tough to do worse than walker at LB. At least he gets the rest of the night off.
  18. It's funny you mention that because that's exactly what the Packers did back in '03 when Favre hurt his thumb. Take a look at the year Ahman Green had.
  19. That is the one any only place I most certainly support the Brewers moving to!
  20. Pennant on the line, elimination game, and the one inning reliever doesn't pitch.
  21. And also one that would've missed every other year with their 6th place finish other than the Covid year. When the series probabilities run 60/40 55/45 35/65 or somewhere in that neighborhood anyone who gets in has a pretty good chance.
  22. All in elimination for San Diego. A not very good 87 win team wins the pennant. Remain competitive and get as many bits of the apple as possible. That is all you can do in the Brewers situation to maximize a chance at winning the pennant.
  23. I know there was some BS flag on that last play, but if Runyan catches that ball on a bounce, he might be able to get into the endzone. That was almost the greatest last second play ever.
  24. And even worse is the amount of quit this team has in them. They end up in a lot of obvious run situations where the opponent is trying to burn clock in the 4th quarter by running and they can't stop it, with like six first round picks lined up on defense, they can't stop basic running plays. Offensively, seems like after a turnover or drop, they go into a shell and the missed assignments just pile up.
